Although we all knew this was coming, it seems Rekkles has officaly announced he won't be able to compete in Season 3. There's a lot of QQ in the thread talking about how American labor laws are dumb and they should just let him play, but I think the age limit is a good thing. There are age limits in place for traditional sports. There's a physical aspect as well, but the NBA makes kids at least play one year in college when some of them would be physically able to join the NBA at 17. Finishing high school is more important than starting your pro gaming career one year early.

Question: I generally don't pay much attention to mathcraft and theorycrafting (especially since I wasn't playing at all at the end of season 2 and the start of 3 so I missed a lot of it). What is the logic behind the common phrase I'm seeing around here that people say resistances don't matter as much or got nerfed?

I think it has to do with the increased prices of resistances and the new reduction formula (% before flat).

A simple keyboard press compared to having to aim and click is much faster which could make a difference in smite-wars. I also don't see a downside to smartcasting it. It's not like other skillshot/wall spells where you want to be careful how you line it up. Or Ignite where you could accidentally hit the wrong target (like trying to smite a champion).

You can mess up and smite small lizard at red/blue since they sometimes stack together. Knowing the range for smiting over walls can be helpful too. When you're really competing smites with nonsmartcasted smite, you're clicking on the hotkey once so it shows the range so that you'll only have to click once more, which is similar to smartcasting smite. There are however, situations where you have to rush into baron face first to smite, or leap/dash/flash over into the pit to smite, and theoretically, smartcasting smite would be better in those situations. I'm wondering if it's common practice for pro players to smartcast smite.

There is no downside to smart casting smite and you should always do it imo.If a camp is stacked as you say you can just left click the thing you want to smite first and than cast smite to be sure you're hitting the right thing.

afaik, oddone/saint both smartcast smite since 99% of the time, you're going to be sitting next to the thing you're smiting or flashing in range to smite a baron. There is rarely a time when you'd benefit from seeing the range on smite since you can smite from anywhere within the pit. I'm not sure if there's any true benefit though since the last second or so before the smite, you're usually hovering over the smite key whether it's a key or mouseclick and just waiting til the right time to press it.
