Obviously we'd have to know all the n^th derivatives to create the taylor series manually, but there are ways to compose taylor series and the ones in 8 are compositions of well known functions. 9 is done using the definition of directional derivative. http://tutorial.math.lamar.edu/Classes/CalcIII/DirectionalDeriv.aspx 10 is about the tangent plane and then using that plane to evaluate approximations near a point. This is the 3-variable extrapolation of using tangent lines to approximate values. You can also just do the approximation part with differentials, which is way easier, but it seems the question wants you to use tangent planes 11 is chain rule 12 is more tangent stuff and then you have to do more math on top of it 13 is more chain rule | ||
