I picked Yorick, called top. Then some other guy picks Akali, calls top too. Now normally, I back down if the other guy doesn't repick, but he didn't so I decided I wouldn't budge for him either. Fast forward 3 mins, we're both bot lane and our MF is failing pretty hard 2v1 and so she decides to come top as well. Our Akali, Fizz and MF start allchatting and saying to report me for picking Yorick, turns out they were a premade and they basically bullied me all game but we managed to win it because the enemies got overconfident. Anyways, should I have just backed down at the start and been Alistar (or someone else)?

You don't get to "call" a role. If you "call" top as 5th pick and your 1st pick guys takes it, then tough. If it's blind pick.. well.. then its blind pick and no one takes that seriously anyway.

His only weakness is being heavily counterjungled and not getting ganks, but in solo queue, especially at lower Elos, you generally won't get teams who pick and play appropriately to do that. I had Rammus go unbanned in 2 of the 5 ranked games I played recently. I took him in one and it was a total stomp, even with falling behind slightly due to early counterjungling. Started about a level behind early on and lost two reds, ended up 5-1-9. Basically they did an immediate red counter at spawn and then got the second because my mid went full retard and died before it respawned. Even had a couple flop gank follow ups by laners early on. But, since powerball lets you make up some time by getting around faster, I was able to grab a couple ganks by ganking through the enemy jungle or up the lane and even counterjungle the enemy (LS, iirc) by knowing his position during ganks/via wards. The other game it went unpicked (we took Shaco who was also inexplicably unbanned). So, in summary: he has a weakness, but it's hard to exploit in solo queue and he has strong enough ganks to compensate for it a bit. He's not autowin since you rely on team follow-up, but he can create a ton of pressure on lanes and still has really strong ganks. Learn how to deal with counterjungling and make sure to ward your wraiths and push your laners (primarily mid and secondarily top) into picking strong lanes. It's dumb (imo) to have a strong ganker and a weak laner who can't really capitalize on that, anyway.

What can I do about it? You could have him put netlimiter on his computer and set it to use less bandwidth than your ISP gives you, leaving you some to play on without latency.
