Only skimmed it, but it didn't seem to mention the ratio between the base damage and AP ratio of the spell under question, which is obviously crucial for the calculation. The graphs really don't have much purpose, unless you implement the AP ratio : Base damage into it, somehow. From what I got after skimming it Abyssal plus blasting wand can be better than just Rabadon's in some situations. But it even admits that Rabadon's is better in most cases. Which is a long way from the initial claim of, "deathcap first doesn't really give you more damage than abyssal." Also the wording of the article is if it's significantly stronger. Which should tell you already that it's not stronger in most situations. You also have to ignore the fact that Rabadon's only gets stronger the longer the game goes on because of the 30% AP increase.

You also have to ignore the fact that Rabadon's only gets stronger the longer the game goes on because of the 30% AP increase. If you look at the graph. Rabadon will beat Abyssal in damage 99% of the time - only in rare situations i.e. below 0.3 AP ratios does Abyssal win. The point is that whilst Rabadon always wins, it does not win by much - in a low MR situation 0-100MR and standard AP ratios (0.7-1) or so Rabadon first only beats Abyssal by 10-15%. So it's up to you to say if the defensive stats/aura are worth that extra punch.

Furthermore, since you complete it 1000gold sooner than deathcap you get a pretty big window where you're way ahead of an opponent that rushes deathcap.

You don't need to combo them, just E and autoattack them to death. His lategame is pretty bad though I agree.
