Yeah, they're excited and interested. Just look at them when a player flashes and escapes compared to every other caster. For them they shout and scream at them. The average caster just says "their flash is up so they got away".

Don't get me wrong, we do need some more energetic casters, but we don't need "AHHH WHAT SICK MICRO" everytime a Probe gets away from a Marine.

It basically comes down to this: if you dont like someone's casting, it is probably a good indication that you really dont NEED them to be casting in order to understand or enjoy the game. So hit mute and do it for yourself. If you are relying on a caster to explain the game or high level strategies to you, then you probably arent in a position to actually determine whether or not a caster is good. On the other hand, Koreans and Tobi Wan for Dota 2 just make the game enjoyable to watch, so who cares if you cant understand what they are saying or if they might hypothesize something incorrect. Like with Moletrap: I know more about the game than he does. I dont need to hear him throw out ideas that are wrong, nor do I need to hear a play by play. I can just mute it and listen to some music. On the other hand, Jatt knows the game better than me (or at least did for the Kings tourney) so it was good to listen to his knowledge. Play by play just depends on wether or not you like the guy enough. Deman and Joe Miller do a good job with it. Phreak sucks. But it is what it is. You dont like it, hit mute. You dont NEED them to understand what is going on (but again, if you DO need them, then you should shut up and watch anyway because you arent good enough to make the distinction between good and bad casters).

This is partly it, but they just never make insightful comments. Between that and their apparent surprise at every little thing, I question how much they've even played this game. They certainly come off as extremely unskilled players. Excitement over trivial details detracts from commentary, not adds to it. You want to get excited about things that actually warrant it. When you flip your shit with "OH MY GOD" "THAT WAS SO AMAZING" every time a gank happens and someone flashes away, it's just irritating.

Casters should either be really good at the game, so they can give deep strategical analysis or be fun to listen to. Of course some combination of the two is probably the best. However, I absolutely hate watching esports (and regular sport) with muted sound. Muting for the sake of bad commentators takes away in-game sound, audience "noise" and stuff like that. I don't really know why, but it makes it a lot less enjoyable to watch for me. I don't even know why they bother hiring casters when they aren't especially good at casting, aren't especially funny/charismatic and lastly know about as much about the game as your average 1000 Elo player. Edit: Forgot to mention what Craton just wrote: They yell annoying random shit.

I think LoL needs the excitement/excited casters. It just makes watching LoL more fun.
