I forget what game it was, but during Kiev there was an Ahri vs Karthus mid match-up where the Ahri rushed abysal and it worked really well. I'm not sure on the math, but it did allow Ahri to basically kill Karthus at will by dashing around in his defile. I guess the reasoning being something like she needs the AP and Abyssal passive to kill Karthus, but also the MR to stand in his defile long enough to not die. I'd love to see more adaptive gameplay like this. It's much more interesting than the generic Ring, Ring, Cap build.

Something like 0-4 in my LoL lifetime. CLGeu was just slightly ahead in timing I think (10-15s). MYM still mowed down top lane rather quickly. Either way, great call and great team fight by CLGeu.

Dunno Neo, corki's cs was only like 20 lower at most during laning and was 2-1 vs Sivir in deaths (only got 1 assist from the failed dive iirc), whose kill/assists started racking up only after the second drag fight. Considering that they were running Taric to presumably suppress that bot lane, the effects aren't really that apparent imo.

Considering that they were running Taric to presumably suppress that bot lane, the effects aren't really that apparent imo. I want to applaud MYM for their planning but they fumbled pretty hard on execution. MYM was ahead in kills. Their Morg push down mid and along with their Jungler, went for a 4v2 dive on Bot. Coordination like this I really look highly on (this is something CLGna really, really, really wants jiji to do but jiji too passive to gonk side lanes). MYM fails in that first tower dive where they lost 2 for 1. That hurt early on. But the bigger fail was in CS. Straight up mechanics. CLGeu was behind in kills and even that first Drag but they were never more than 1-2K gold behind. Better team won obviously but MYM has that potential if they just clean up their mistakes. Oh, and Taric, zzz. Need to really capitalize with him or else you have a real deadweight champ late game.

After playing them all for a little, I feel like Morde has the highest late-game damage output, Rumble the most utility, with Yorick being halfway in between.

Really their late game strength is dependant on ult usage. Morde is about whether you can get a fast and meaningful ghost from the other team, Yorrick is just about synergy with your ranged AD, and Rumble's is about positioning and whether the opposing team can deal with the zoning the line provides.

There was a post on Ele's blog with some mathcraft on it. It ended up being relatively situational depending on AP Scaling and CDR but Abyssal + Blasting Wand being just a bit cheaper but still offering close power output. So Abyssal lets you get a full item faster, but it tails off compared to the DCap Passive. http://rog.clgaming.net/blogs/a-different-view/5494-debunked-is-rabadon-s-deathcap-significantly-stronger-than-abyssal-scepter-as-a-first-rush-item-part-1

Just to get an idea of where they stand with the rest of the bunch, how would you say they compare to people generally recognized to fall off hard in late-game, e.g. Garen? Do they have decent late-game performance, or would you say they're really early-game (laning) one-trick ponies? I've picked up and really enjoy Morde/Yorick/Rumble (each with their slightly different play styles), but I want to make sure I don't end up playing only with heroes that are useless late-game. (As opposed to e.g. Kennen/Cass, which definitely do a lot more damage late-game)

It's been used for a while now on the EU servers if I remember correctly. M5 did it at Kiev even.
