EPTThis thread is to compile a list of altered recommended items. We all have that champ we play that has some item Riot suggested for it that you never buy. Also if you’re new to a champ it helps prevent confusion when you’re not that familiar with what is good (i.e. Should I build that Guinsoo’s Rageblade on Skarner every game?) This also opens up a slot for most champs because for some you never buy Doran’s items.
So use this as a resource for advice and suggestions on what an optimal recommended item list would look like. Of course, this is not a be-all-end-all list. There are multiple roles for champs, different playstyles and obviously a variety of in-game scenarios that affect item choice. Please contribute, critique, and discuss recommendations. Take what you see and make it yours and give your thoughts on why.
Philosophy:
The items in your recommended list save time at the store so you can get back to the field of battle as quickly as possible. Sometimes you want to hustle out the gate at the beginning or just get that big ticket item you always get but it's not on the stupid list. This also allows you to keep the consumables tab up on the left all game long. What I personally have done is selected the most complete item and you can get the components in the “build” section. Some points:
• The idea is not to debate whether Banshee’s Veil or Force of Nature is the best item, because that can be situational. More importantly there is a Negatron Cloak in each so switching between the two is easy. We want the most comprehensive list, so getting to any reasonable item is within two clicks is great in my mind.
• A lot of times there are variations due to role. A lot of champs that go top also work in jungle. For now I’m just trying to find middle ground, but if there is a big enough difference in builds both will be listed (i.e. AP vs AD Shaco. Udyr was hard to do as well).
