Talon requires some thought to counter, but not particularly high mechanical skills. It's obvious as hell what he's going to do because there's only 1 thing he CAN do. It's always going to be the exact same shit so if it doesn't work then he loses.
Gp beats Talon silly. Yorick can deny talon if he wards the brushes. Etc etc.
If you are blindly putting talon top then yes he's a terrible pick. Thing is, Talon can even go bottom or mid so you need 3 lanes that can beat Talon for him to have no place to go.

Yeah but you're a squishy AP (or otherwise Talon shouldn't be facing you), so that Chainmail is pretty useless, while Talon wants to build damage anyways.

except on talon, brutalizer is a core item that will also help him demolish your squishy
chain vest helps no one crush the enemy carry. if talon building core items is able to force you away from YOUR core items, then he's already winning
it's the same logic as pantheon. extremely strong early game that forces the enemy to build to survive, slowing down their ability to actually contribute

Talon is the squishy killer. He loses to crazy sustainers, of which there are the highest concentration top-lane. It's like explaining 1 + 1 = 2 to someone. He's one of the best squishy rapists in the game.

For what it's worth, I still think it's worth banning Talon because just like with some other snowbally champs, it only takes 1 retard on your team to screw things up even if you know how to deal with him.

Chain vest completely neuters talon. It costs 700. Who the fuck cares that your carry is now invincible and freefarming mid, but 700 gold 'behind'?
Quite frankly, AP mid has an easy out in hourglass, which you're generally going to want one if your opponent's running one of their solo lanes exclusively invested into physical burst.

You don't even need sustain to beat talon if you can set him back early.
Full armor runes Wukong vs Talon top. Level 2, Xin gank, crush Talon, buy boots and pots, suddenly he can't trade at all without losing half his health for maybe 1/4 of mine.
(Especially since you can Q before he blinks to you, then follow his retreating with E -> Q.)
It's like when Pantseon was "imba" because no one wanted to spend 700 gold on an item that halved his damage output.
