Blizzard just released a new blog talking about future changes in both Hero League and Team League, some highlights:
Hero League Placements matches.
To improve the accuracy of a player’s rank, we are planning to introduce a set of placement matches that players will need to complete before they receive an official rank. During this phase, a player’s rank will not be assigned or displayed. Instead, other players will see the player is in their “Placement Phase.”
Grandmaster-like League (like hearthstone legend rank).
To recognize the best players in each region, we are planning to add a Grandmaster-equivalent rank above rank 1.
Players who are able to achieve this impressive level of play will be assigned a Grandmaster rank which shows the exact position of where they place amongst their fellow Grandmasters. For those wanting to track the best players in their region, we’ll have a leaderboard available from within the game for all to see.
Seasons.
When we do hold the first official season, all ranks will be reset and players will need to play through their placement matches as described above. Based on your prior season’s performance and how well you played in your placement matches, you’ll be placed in an appropriate rank that reflects your skill. In addition, we’ll be carrying over your internal skill rating (MMR) from the previous season to help ensure matches will be even and balanced.
Finally, you will be rewarded for your efforts! Make sure to try your hardest, as you’ll be awarded based on the highest rank you attained for the season.
Redesigning Team League.
Next, we are planning to remove five-player parties from Hero League and move them to Team League. After we make this change, if you have a party size of one to four, you can queue up for Hero League. If you have a full party of five (either as a pickup party, or a formal team with a name), you will queue up for Team League.

It was kinda unclear in the blog, but from what I understand, 5 mans who queue up for Hero League will be put up against either 5 man HL or 5 man TL teams, but they gain/lose Hero League points?

Ok my opinion:
I like that there will be placement matches. A grandmaster league is ok, altough I wonder how it will work, hopefully not like sc2s.
Now, about seasons, they are fine, but...if they don't reset the MMR, just the rank, could someone tell me what the point is? If you are, IDK, Rank 5, thats your skill lvl, you end up finishing a season in that rank, then it resets and well, your skill is in rank 5 so, bam, you are placed in rank 5...huh why even bother then changing the seasons? Or will they try to give you a false sense of progression putting you in, idk, rank 10 so you lvl up to 5 and you feel as if you "progressed"?
The teamleague changes are pretty good. Now if you are a 5 man party you'll be able to play team league, and get wrecked by real cordinated teams, but I guess it is fine if you got 5 people around that aren't your real team. Some people wanted Blizzard to make hero league aavailable just to solo players, maybe a party of 2 maximun, and although I can see why that would be ideal, right now its not posible as it would mean that if you got 3 or 4 friends you wouldn't be able to play any ranked mode with them which would suck.
To chairman, I think they will have like a party team league rank? sort of like...in sc2 when you queue with friends in team games and you get a rank in your profile even though you may never play with them again. I don't think you'll win hero league points but..I'm not really sure to be honest.

Is MMR internal so that my feelings don't get hurt when I see the number increase and decrease?
Its the same in SC2 too. If MMR is the most accurate indicator of a player's skill relative to everyone else then surely it would be a great idea to show it and rank everyone by it!

That doesn't make sense, since you have to pay 500g to form a TL team.

The thing is, you don't need a team to play on team league anymore. You can have one, and it will havea name an special ranking (porbably the legend thing will only be available to a team), but if you are just a party, you will also be playing on TeamLeague, if I undertood correctly.

the placements matches seems a lot more logical than a guy lvl 50 with the skill of a lvl 10 having to grind a lot of games to get his rank, and then a lot of people whining in reddit and TL about how they had to play with a guy lvl 47.

The way I'm interpreting the Blizzard blog is that you will have a new individual rating called "Team League Rating". This rating will only apply when you queue up in a 5-man pickup group. Your organized Team League 5-mans will each have a separate rating.
So your ratings could look something like this: Hero League Rank 15 (hidden MMR 1850) - this rating will be used when queueing in 1-4man pugs. You will play games using HL rules, for example there won't be any bans.
Team League Individual Rank 22 (hidden MMR 1590) - this rating will be used when queueing in 5 man pugs. You will play games using TL rules, which presumably will include bans.
Team League "My BFFs" Rank 9 (hidden MMR 2000) - this rating will only be used when queuing with this specific team - "My BFFs" - which required a 500g registration fee. TL rules apply.
I would assume that Blizzard will apply a slight MMR correction to TL games between "pug teams" and "500g registered teams". The latter is sure to be better organized.
