The Battle of the Best Invitational ended this week with Reynad taking his first constructed tournament over formidable opponents such as Firebat in the finals and Thijs in the semifinals. Though Reynad had previously won Lord of the Arena 1, many were quick to point out that this particular tournament was both an arena tournament and an invitational tournament that he himself had hosted.
Reynad's MVP deck of the tournament was his Mech Mage, a deck that he 3-0'd Firebat with and a deck that many people are calling the strongest deck in the game right now after the Undertaker nerf. Reynad's interpretation of Mech Mage, however, was quite different from others' interpretation of it as he chose to include Blingtron 3000, The Black Knight, and 2 Water Elementals instead of the typical Mech Mage 4 Drops, Mechanical Yeti and Piloted Shredder. All decklists can be found on the Battle of the Best website via the link on the bottom of the post.
Battle of the Best was almost notably one of the first tournaments in a while not to get DDoS'd. The last few major online tournaments including Pinnacle 1, Pinnacle 2, Kinguin For Charity Winter 2015, and even the ESL Master Builder series, were all victims of DDoS attacks, but Battle of the Best seemed to free of such issues.

I would hope a tournament sponsored by a hosting company with the slogan "Reliable Hosting" would be DDoS free
Gratz Reynad!

That's the wrong liquipedia link.

I've thought mechmage is OP since I played against it a few times and goblin blastmage needs a nerf for heaven's sake. Insane 4-drop.

GZ to Reynad.
It seems that he really know the MTG style decks really well.
Like zoo or mech mage work kinda like agrro decks from MTG very low curve, not so much big threaths.
While mid range decks are all over the place with cards from 2 to 9 mana cost.
And control isn't really control, like maybe a fatigue mage/freeze is control deck while warrior just do well to survive to turn 7-9 when he drops not so much control big creatures.
I would like to make a poll but since i haven't watch this.

It's kind of odd NOT having Water Elementals in a tempo deck when you think about it. Not saying Yeti/Shredder are bad 4 drops, but Water Elemental is more versatile and less riskier due to the spare parts RNG.

Need more luck than skill to win an invitational tournament with 8-16 players, those tournaments have not value.

It was a good tournament, no big issues as far as I can remember, keep it up!

Absolutely right! Especially with a deck like mechmage.
But congrats reynad.

This was really first tournament win for reynad??

After looking at Grand Final ans semis with Thijsnl i am kinda thinking this game is in the ridicoulos state. I gave up ladder in November before gvg came out and what I see here is bombs hiting face for 8, crazy weapon rng, spare parts rng.
I don't even know who is paying those guys and who like to watch. Like how many times can you watch a guy being defeated by such crap?
Reynad played well but maybe for the first time in his life, the luck was way on his side.

Spare Parts are insanely fun and never really unfair. I think they are a great addition to Hearthstone. Yeah, sometimes someone gets the one spare part that fits perfectly for the situation, but overall they are imo skill intensive, fair and fun.
Some other RNG elements are debatable, I really dislike some of them, too.

Spareparts are never unfair? Have you ever played a mech mage getting stealth for his antonidas? Thats fucking unfair, and it happens quit frequent...

And that's sad seeing how he get invited to everything ;D

Yup, you have a full board with 3 cards in hand while he has only antonidas and the stealth. Too bad, he kills you after next turn with double fireball, there's nothing you can do.

Something like turn 8 Antonidas into Cloaking Field is def. OP.
But grats, Reynad no matter what. I <3 you bae.
