Hello fellow teamliquid.net goers,
What I need is a calendar program. Prerequisites:
- Displays days like a normal calendar all 30ish.
- better not be browser based I’m never going to notice it like that
- Has alarm where I can make me notify something at a given time and date.
- Has daily alarms i.e. I can put shit like its 10pm go to sleep for every day.
- It Is free
I’m a very organized person not because I like to be because I’m one lazy S.O.B. and I forget to do things so I need reminders thus I keep myself organized and not fall back on my work. Recently I thought about ditching a normal calendar (which I've been using scene I went to high-school) for something that I’ll notice as much but have more room to put info and times.
Yes, I know I could easily dl a few programs here and there but I don’t want to dl 10 programs I rather just check out 1 or 2 peer reviewed programs, as I hate installing shit just to uninstall it. Also threads like this can help others. "Just because you don't raise your hand doesn't mean you don't have a question"
Thank you for your time, ~Izzy

Why not browser based exactly? Hell, Google calendar will even text message you with reminders for things.
|
I don't do text messages or IM or shitty look at my 500 dollar phone which is just a really tiny net book that makes calls.
Also because it's internet based and I'm not.
|
Most cell phones have exactly what you're looking for.
|
I use my cell phone to make calls and not calls to talk to my bro for 2 hours for no reason. A phone is a means to a end calls should go like "Hey we are on for tonight?" "Yeah" "okay bye"
Plain and simple I'm not a phone person. Never will be. Hell I miss half my calls why would I use something I already ignore.
|
Edit: nvm, no idea why you are coping an attitude to people trying to help.
|
Because they aren't listening?
Is it helping to ask for a watermelon and given a cantaloupe and then being told "It's about the same" seriously I'm being pretty clear in my request.

yeah google cal is some sexy shit. gl finding something else better.
Maybe try sunbird?

mozilla always makes good stuff and my friend recommended it

Rainlendar is the obvious choice.
|
I use Microsoft Outlook and I have Windows sidebar gadgets for my calendar and another for tasks. Works pretty well.
Not free, but Windows Live Mail does the same thing and is.

Maybe if you read the dam OP you wouldn't get cursed at for making a stupid suggestion.
Let me google that for you read that dam op you dumb ass. I didn't go around and randomly go installing programs because i rather have one that people are known to already like.

You better chill out before you visit Disneyland. And you have to at least make an attempt searching for one before you start attacking random people who are trying to help you and give you different suggestions besides your narrow-minded focus.

Thank you for your time, ~Izzy
haha that's cute. oh thats how you did it. weee.
|
rainlender. i've been using it for over a year and it's amazing.
|
eh? OP clearly stated things that people disregarded or blatantly ignored.

Psh I'm already going to Disneyland mid august with my gf. All this thread proves is that majority of the TL users don't read OP and skim most other posts most likely only reading the post before them.

guess you should've titled it "non-browser calender program"
|
Even if the OP is acting like a douche, I'll thank the people who suggested Rainlendar. I need a good calendar program just in time for grad school.

same here, although OP isn't what you call..... a honorable Tler, at least we have some of us who are kind to respond with the right intentions (in which I also thank since I check Rainlender and it looks nice and maybe will use it) but if you are going to make an OP such as this and not expect to get flamed, then welcome to the internet newbie.
Now, I can easily see any further flaming from the OP or the other people may attract the mods to come so.... I'll take my own leave now, thank you very much! ^_^
|
but if you are going to make an OP such as this and not expect to get flamed, then welcome to the internet newbie.
before you leave clarify this statement, OP was pretty unprovocative and was neat, orderly and asked a clear question(?) I don't see how this leads to flaming
wait so you insult the OP , "silly newbie" , ... then leave with that silly cop out statement? well , glad to see you're keeping on par with your name "quickstriker"

well then, it seems you haven't read the entire thread at all. He was insulting at majority of us and TL in general and you're telling me I'm insulting him? I'm simply telling him that he should well know exactly what it would get himself into if he decides to attack people like that in which he did when some of us commented... Mr. HeavOnEarth-san.
|
I'm insulting heavy cell phone users. And TL users that don't read the OP.
Seriously you are not helping when you try to help but not listening to the person you are only getting in the way. --"Hey can you help me paint my house blue ionno too much about paint so maybe you can fill me in" "LMGTFY painting a house" --"Seriously???..." "Oh okay, here this is some good quality green paint" --"but i want blue paint..." "Oh this is a nice brush too" --"I needed paint not a brush..."
Is that the Majority of TL? I wouldn't know the demographic that makes up TL.
|
Well I suppose I might as well admit my mistakes in which I think I have lost a big one here. Yea, I agree with ya OP, it is insulting and annoying when people do that to ya, it happened to me.... I suppose I was being some idiotic nonsense person.... But in any case, I at least try to read the whole thread before posting in one so yea... that necessary isn't the case for others.... but yea, gl with your searching....
And I will be honest, I do feel like that is sort of what majority of TL are to some extent... just my personal opinion...

Although it doesn't have alarms as you requested, Desktop Calendar is supersimple and free. The full version may have alarms but I'm not sure, but that's not free unless you can find it somewhere illegally.
http://tinnes.org.uk/desktopcalendar/index.html
That's the best I can do, goodluck.
edit: Also, as has been stated, I'd suggest you improve your attitude with people who are going out of the way to make helpful suggestions for you, even if they aren't EXACTLY what you asked for.
|
I just think its funny that he told the majority of cell phone users they are using their phones incorrectly.
