what do you want a list of all the things i know about Brazil? Or do you want to know the generalized idea someone gets from you're country? if it is, then how are you going to expect anything other than a severely generalized answer, mostly consisting of the things Brazil makes it's self famous for? is the fact that Brazil makes it's self famous for these things what makes you angry? Before you start ranting on about my ignorance etc, know that I lived in Brazil for about 5 years, speak fluent Portuguese, have been to quite a few regions of Brazil, and have a lot of close family there. lol also if the mods knew what ViB has been saying he would warned at the very least.

Not at all, my purpose with this thread is to educate people about Brazil, and since we are in the 3rd page now, some people probably learned something. My OP might not have been the best, but my goals were reached, which was, to engage in conversation about Brazil in "gringos" perceptions.

- Brazil is the 5th biggest country in the world (After Russia, Canada, EUA, China) - Besides being 3rd world, is the country where the population has the biggest hours spent on internet (more than USA, Japan, etc... China was not in the study) (http://info.abril.com.br/noticias/internet/brasil-e-campeao-de-tempo-gasto-na-internet-06052009-18.shl) If this is a good thing its up to you to decide ![]() - Our volleyball is being more sucessfull than soccer in titles, almost invencible, winning 17 of 21 international titles disputed (and 3 2nd places and 1 3rd place) during 2001-2006. - As VIB pointed, our elections are completely on eletronic urns, with the final results coming on the other day (some on the same day). Yes, we vote and know our president the same day. - Just read this. I think foreigners could not believe. People in general (~80%) buys the latest eletronic products from our neighbor country Paraguay. Products are bought there with dollars (illegal) by ppl we call "camelôs", pass the border hidden to not pay taxes, and are sold in every city center existent. If i want i can go tomorrow to the city center and buy almost anything by half price or less, be it tvs, sound systems, laptops, dvds, cds, consoles, clothes, shoes, cell phones, toys, etc. Piracy is just blended with original produtcs (while tvs, graphic cards, laptops are all original, dvds, cds, clothes and shoes are almost all manufactured/pirated on China and bought there) Why sell some original things? Its not the same price? Simple. Brazil taxes eletronics in general (some exceptions) by 40% to enter the country, without others taxes (the final price can be 60-80% higher). So a 300 dollars PS3, imported, go to ~550 dollars. If you buy in Paraguay, the same PS3 can be bought by 360 dollars. A 2000 dollars notebook comes at an absurd ~4000 dollars. Just tax alone. If you buy on Paraguay its 2200 dollars. This is not piracy, as Sony/HP/Dell not lost anything. Who loses is the dumb government on taxes not collected. So the middle-class/high-class brazillians have the same latest tech as USA (with a little delay), but almost everything enter the country illegally and is sold at every city corner (at open, the autorities dont close the commerces to not put the country in chaos)
