I have a curve-shaped keyboard, fairly unique, that i've used for about 13 years. it's such good workmanship i guess that it has never once given me problems. Only thing is, I was 10 and now I was 23. What's in between that? Puberty. My formerly white keyboard is now completely an even shade of deep, sick, yellow. 13 years of grease and sweat permanently ingrained in plastic. how do i get that color out of it? It's probably the most disgusting thing i've ever seen. I mean it doesn't come off on you, it's just the singularly unique color. It sparks an indefinable Lovecraftian terror in the human mind.
The dangers of poor typing skills can be evinced by the dire parable about the hungry boy who accidentally ate a luscious red Yamato, and promptly died.

Some plastics have flame retardant chemicals in them to meet safety guidelines that end up turning yellow from exposure to light over time. It could be that

I had a keyboard I obsessed over kepping clean, but after a while some dirt worked in that I just could not rub off. A little bit of %100 acetone did the trick though.

really, cuz thats pretty freaking easy.

If anything you should at least mention that you can just wash it IN THE SHOWER (or bath) with all of the water you want and scrub scrub scrub away and so long as you wait for it to dry you will be A OK.

Nowadays computer is a big part of our lives. Many paperwork, documents, games, chat, and many more are used on the computer. Sometimes we get lazy and don't bother cleaning our keyboard or wipe their computer. As time pass by you will that your keyboard is starting to dust up and get dirty. Sometimes you think to yourself, "I want to clean my keyboard its so dirty and ugly, but ughhh i just don't know how!" Well in this guide i will go over a few different methods to clean your keyboard. If your keyboard looks like this..

then you came to the right thread!
Hope one works and hope at least one will help you!

What you will need?
1.Thin Cloth
2.Duster
3.Cotton Buds
4.Can of compress air
5.Flat tip screwdriver

Method 1

1. Always shut down your computer and detach your keyboard first. Make sure you don't have your computer running while doing this because it can harm your computer.

2. Turn the keyboard upside down and remove all the screws from the back.

3.Lift the top half of the keyboard (The one with the keys on it) off and put the bottom half to one side.
* There may be some clips on the keyboard, also, check for screws hidden under labels.

4.Turn the top half around so that you can see the backs of the keys, squeeze the tabs on each key to remove it.

5. Put the keys in a hot bowl of water and wash it.

6.Leave the keys on the side dry it.

7.Once everything is dry reassemble the keyboard.

It will be as good as new!

Method 2

The first one might be a little difficult and more time consuming, but dont worry this is another option!

1.Detach your keyboard and turn off the computer like always.

2.Turn the keyboard upside down tap it a couple times so that random dirt pieces will fall out.

3. Use a can of compress air and blow out any dirt or things that you don't want.

4. Clean the keyboard with a cotton swab dipped into alcohol.

5. You may also use a flat screwdriver to gently remove the keys. Do this by gently prying up each key with a small screwdriver or a similar lever. When the keys have been remove blow it and wash it out. Then put it back to place

Method 3

1.Again you always turn off the computer and detach the keyboard.

2. Get a butter knife and a thin cloth.

3. Wrap the blade of the butter knife in the j-cloth, ensuring the cloth is as tight as possible. (Depending on the knife, you may simply want to just place the knife blade in the center of the cloth and pull the corners back, creating a one-layer thick cover over the blade)

4. Using force, scratch all the dust an dirty things off the side of the keys

Comments

Hope this helps everyone! I have used these methods many time and i see great results.
If you want to clean your laptop, compress air itself is enough. Hey, to everyone who asked how to clean a laptop keyboard. It's best to use a can of compress air but make sure you dont turn your can of compress air upside down. Keep the can of compress air a inch or two away from your keyboard as you direct the air between the keys. If the air is not reaching to a certain part you want it to reach you may always tilt your laptop, so that you can access to the correct angle. Another method you may choose is to take the keys out individually, however i do not prefer it because some laptops might be fragile and some might not even go on. If you are confident in taking out the keys then you may do so, but don't use too much force just use enough force to pop the key out. If you forget the order in which the keys on your keyboard go, simply boot up your computer. Go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>Accessibility>On Screen Keyboard This will give you a keyboard on the screen, which you can simply copy the order of letters/numbers/characters off. This will be posted in the comment sections. If you have any questions please feel free to ask by PM me or reply on this thread. Thanks everyone for viewing!

Hi Jack!

Just wondering if you got the idea from my Blog post or it came naturally to you?

quirinus is gonna be pissed.

Jk. Nah, it's cool, I should feel proud if anything!
If my computer could run SC2, I'd consider making a guide too.

That said, let's go to the criticism!
You should format the text better, and some of the pictures are just inserted in the middle of the text, with no space between, etc. Pictures of the process would make the guide more fun and more instructional. (and longer )

Next, I'd try to make the guide more fun to read (jokes, funny references, etc.), as that's the easiest way to get free points, but that's just me - some guides are just ment to be serious.

What I do like is that you have given us not one but three methods! (Sounds like a commercial. xD)
And I totally forgot that you can buy compressed gas in that form. I guess water compressor works too.

Might try this next time I clean my keyboard! (If I'm not going to be lazy again.)
Thanks for the read.

That keyboard picture is really sick :s
My secret to keeping a clean keyboard? Keeping your hands clean! I can't stand having a dirty keyboard anyways, so I just wipe it with a cloth and alcohol from time to time.

I think you should add this guide to the appendix of the "Male Masturbation" guide.

any advice on cleaning laptop keyboards? most of them have no visible way to detach themselves, and the keys are much closer together, making the good old turn upside down and blow method not very effective.

You can pry the top function bar off of pretty much every laptop. Get a small flat head screw driver and depress a key, like insert, then gently pull the top bar off the laptop. That will expose 2-3 screws that hold the laptop keyboard in place.

Unscrew these, then carefully flip it back to expose the ribbon that connects the keyboard to the motherboard. Pull the catch to release the ribbon and voila, keyboard sans laptop. You can then wash it in the sink, or just employ the upside down and tap method.
Some cause happiness wherever they go; others, whenever they go.

Really, really old mac keyboard. I believe it was back with the fruity colored ones. I have one sitting in the corner of my room.

LMAO. It would really assist due to the VERY vague Disposal section. How are you supposed to know not to just blow it into the keyboard if his guide doesn't tell you?!
