LOL @ people invoking the "right to party". :D this is a great idea if u aren't afraid of getting your ass kicked and Bill I guess you are right the landlord prolly would lie heh
Ass kicked? If they try anything I have my Sig Sauer and AR-10 in my apartment so I don't think any 'ass-kicking' would be going on, especially when they have no decorum. Secondly, you are out in left field with your hypothetical scenarios. He clearly layed out what was going on.
The civil thing to do would be to ask them to stop after a reasonable time, if they say 'fuck you' and continue then call the cops. You have no right to infringe on the sleep of others.
Wasn't it in the torture thread people calling sleep deprivation torture.....oh the hypocrisy!

OP is a faggot go to hell pussy
I have a veteran responsibility to TL and this kind of comment is unacceptable imo. I needs to be said though.

This thread is a good way to find out who is a selfish douche and who isn't.

no
I suppose these are college party kids so the chances they are easily thrown into violence is less, but I have firsthand experience with ridiculous ass drunkies looking for any excuse whatsoever to beat the shit out of someone. and all of that experience has come from environments similar to the one described in the OP

Lol@ not knowing he would get his ass kicked or at least harassed. 50% of the dudes who go to parties are there to fight. The rest are there to have a good time and get laid and/or get faded.
|
Yeah the parties in the redneck part of town are like that. Santee ("Klantee") and Lakeside (white supremacist documentary filmed there a few years ago). Rowdy skinhead gang banger wannabes, yes. In that case, you call the cops anonymously.
At any rate, the OP's neighbors seem more civil and thus merit a more civil approach than anonymous reporting. It's the neighborly thing to do.
Regardless, one's right to have a good time does not trump the right to live in peace of others. How could you not understand this?

Seriously, I would just find a new place to live. While the notion of a "right to party" as put forward by some people in this thread is totally and utterly idiotic, its just too much of a hassle to get them to stop (if its tons of different people in different apartments each night, would be different if it was just 1 or 2 neighboring apts.) and you won't get anywhere being a nice guy since college students who party every single night aren't exactly the sensitive type, in fact they're most likely a bunch of fuck-ups who should have some sense beaten into them.
While short-circuiting their apt. would be a nice solution and totally justified revenge, its only going to work like... once. Just find a new place even if its a pain.

On other parties, I also went to the parties nicely and asked them to tune it down. But they act like "we have a right to party". So I send the police to them. Worked pretty ok.
I am still a bit in a kill mood since my cellphone had no credit and this time the party stopped only at 7:15 am. But you are right, I should stick with the police.
Last night I went there at 1:30 and 5:00 nicely. At 6:30 I just shutdown their music station. But when I left they powered it back on. Thats why I needed stuff like cutting wires. Thinking back to it, I could trow them over the balcony. But when I am over there, I see they are just silly people trying hard to have fun.
Thanks again, I needed to vent, and you had the right answer. So, maybe apartments are different there than they are here, but let me get this straight... you went into their apartment, turned off their music, and walked out just fine? And you think these guys are unreasonable? That would have gotten you smacked in the face, at the very least, at most parties that I've been to. Anyway, there's no need to mess up their stuff when a call to the police will shut down a party pretty quickly.
I couldnt call the police cause my phone was out of money. I could walk right in and out because these people leave there doors open for the smokers and people who wanna stand outside and scream. And I don't look like I can be fucked with, so bunch of drunken lozers is not gonna touch me when I turn of their music station.
And Thanks Chef.
Calling the police only works so well in the way that each time there is a party, it is given by someone else. So there is no way they will learn from it.
I will go abroad in september, so I will not move untill then. And the place where I live is not a student campus or anything. Many people who live here, work and don't party. But yes, 5 - 10% of the people are those annoying partiers. The rent is cheap, that's why I live here. I am still getting my degree, I don't have a lot of money to spend. Also, Some people have decent parties till 02.00 or something. I can live with that.
I tried sleeping with earplugs. I can't sleep with stuff in my ear, lol.
The analogues with indian food and stuff; you can't compare shit randomly with each other. These are clearly spoiled lozers with too much time on their hand and too little respect for their surroundings. They think they are special, they are young and will make it. God I hate those people. Even when I shut down their music at 6:30 they were like "Oh, but can we do one more song?" They tought it a nice compromise; instead of turning the music of right now, just another song. At fkin 6:30. And when I left, they continued for another hour.
I think I will make that device that creates a short-circuit, in case the police doesn't shut them down. Just as a last 03:00 o clock resort.
Yes, I am exagerating those things about molotov cocktails, off course. And to the people who support my case, thanks, it really does feel better. The thing I hate the most is since I didn't sleep I am not over it yet. Most things I am over the next morning. But today there was no morning.

Partying until 7 am is so far beyond the line of "live with it" it's ridiculous.
Whether or not he likes to party has nothing to do with it: when you have a real job to wake up for and perform, partying until 3 am is not an option.
And presumably Navane doesn't have the money to live somewhere better. (Not to mention when you move you have to pay activation fees and deposits for your utilities, which just makes it worse if he's low on cash.)
So basically Navane has 2 options here: 1. let a bunch of assholes fuck up his life 2. kill the parties
I mean seriously, who HAS to party early in the morning? I know it sucks when you've gotta stop at midnight even though you really wanna keep going. But that's called having some goddamn respect for your fellow man.
(And if you wanna say Navane has no respect for them -- which is only natural, since they don't respect him at all -- well Navane can respect them by letting them party until he has to sleep. You think their noise won't be a pain in the ass if he's trying to do other stuff besides sleep? But when it starts killing his sleep, and he HAS to wake up early the next morning, then like I said, they don't HAVE to party that late so obviously they are the ones who have to stop.) This.
God forbid the party-goers be unreasonably and unnecessarily forced to find a different partying spot or turn down the music. They should not be obligated to endure the pain of finding a different friend's house or bar or a club to party at instead. What's an entire night of no/restless sleep to a man if 30 others are deliriously happy for no apparently reason? The man is a puss, let him have earplugs. This should teach him to do extensive research next time he decides to move into an apartment that looks fine during the day. Those youthful little critters walking around during the day should've been more clear of a warning of restless nights than Robotics Facility of Reaver drop. That's what you get. You didn't see that Reaver drop coming, you lose the game. Guess you lose your life now. Ha.
Ahem, lack of sleep goes way beyond feeling slightly tired during the day. It fucks people up like nothing else. It starts getting more difficult to think clearly or get motivated, and all kinds of shit starts going down the drain fast. I'm not sure why so many people here don't seem to understand how awful this can be.
The party-goers haven't done anything to try and cater to OP's requests such as turning down the music; they clearly have no respect for OP's sleep. I wouldn't ask the OP to be too considerate towards them either. Still, instead of taking it into your own hands, you should call the cops (I'd imagine this would be reasonable in Netherland laws).
In U.S. law, this falls into nuisance since your right to enjoyment of property is being violated. This includes things like that bitch in neighbor's backyard barking all night long. (See what I did there?) I'm sure there's something similar in Netherland laws you can probably look up. I personally wouldn't over-do the police calling thing (only maybe during the weekdays?) but this does sound pretty serious. Good luck.

If you feel that way why don't you explain why - try to refute some of the more articulate responses in this thread (such as Bill's post).
If you are incapable of explaining why then your post is based on irrational anger and it obviously does not "need to be said".

Some level of partying is acceptable, but 7:15 am is crossing the line no matter where you draw it. When a party is going on too late and you know you're in the right, go over and ask them nicely to stop. Ask whose party it is and find out where that person is and talk to them personally. Explain that you have something really important going on the next morning ("work") and would they please do you this favor and turn down the volume. If it doesn't work the first time, come back a second time and explain that you will be forced to call the police. If that doesn't work, call the police. If you only do this at the parties that are excessive, things might get better.
If you ever do get people to actually stop/make less noise this way, consider leaving a thank-you note or something. If people think of you as a nice and reasonable person you'll get better results than if they think you're that jerk that always interrupts their parties. Also see if you can develop some level of acquaintance with the people reponsible --- if you know someone it's a lot easier to ask them a favor. (Even though not being obnoxious isn't really a "favor", they will perceive it as one.)
Bottom line: be persistent, be reasonable, people may start getting the message. And move out when you get the chance.

can someone pm me the location of ear plugs, where the fuck do i buy them

Navane I think a great idea would be for you to go door to door, with a survey, asking people what they think about the noise at night, and if they give an answer u want to hear, ask for their support in making it a quieter place.
It will be very easy to do if residents there are supporting each other in it.

Wow @ the replies in this thread. You can really tell who has their priorities where, and who are immature and inconsiderate douchebags. I mean, given the general age of TL.net I expected there to be -some- ignorant people supporting the 'right to party' garbage, but I didn't expect this many. Talk about lack of respect for others... I sincerely hope many of you are forced into apartments and have kids blaring music all night long when you have to wake up for work at 7am the next day, then you'll know what it's like.
Edit - I live travis's suggestion above, peer pressure works way better than just the police by themselves. ^_^

as somebody earlier said, warn twice (first kindly, second threatening to call cops), then call the cops. calling the cops on someone always should be your last resort cus they will hate you with a passion. If there are parties like this going on in many different appartements ur kinda fucked though if u call the cops on all of em cus u will be the most hated person in the entire building. And anybody who thinks neighbour hate has no effect on your life is a douche.. Neighbours can make your life a lot worse if they want to without you ever being able to even find out.
|
solution: move kids are going to party. I don't know why you would move into somewhere like that not expecting tons of parties. As for the right to party...YOU GOTTA FIGHT FOR YO RIGHT TO PARRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTAY!
