Oh, I thought the sound would be relatively dampened already considering that the parties aren't in his apartment. I myself am a light-sleeper so even small noises bother me. That became problematic when I lived with a roommate who snored loudly, and additionally our beds were only about 4 feet away from each other. Fortunately earplugs could dampen the sound enough to where I either couldn't hear the snoring, or I could barely hear it which allowed me to go to sleep easily. So I recommend that you try earplugs first. As a frequency earplug user, I don't think that earplugs are an inconvenience. The ones I have are really comfortable and they tend to fall out when I fall asleep because the cord connecting them and because I roll over in my bed while I'm sleeping; which is a good thing because it allows me to hear my alarm clock in the morning. The kind of look like this ![]() You can buy them at most local convenience stores for $2. I like sleeping with them on, so I would definitely choose to use them over having to deal with the cops or go around polling residents. In my opinion, it would be less of a headache.

Most likely because I'm a college student. I guess I'm naturally able to fall asleep no problem with loud noise then. I party all the time late at night. Personally, I don't think cops should be called until like 1:30 at night at the earliest, and only in extreme cases. You're in a friggin' apartment complex you gotta compromise... you decided to live in a complex where there are a shitton of people living next to you. And yes I know that's very biased from my side and bordering on nonsensical, I just hate it when people get anal about the littlest of noise. I mean, typically if you have loud music in an apartment, it gets significantly muffled and quieter to other apartments as there are walls. Usually the music you hear is less than half the volume you'd have your TV on.

The mayority of your posts are like this, why dont you contribute something instead of always answering like a jerk? you are like what 24? 25? and cant be mature? Jesus christ... thats why almost everyone ignores you grow up baal seriously. And i would advise to either ask them polite 2 or 3 times max, if they continue either call the cops or just try to find a way to make a deal with them... or try to sleep outside your place when they party or something.. you are in quite a spot here ![]()

Everyone defending their youth are hypocrites... obviously, if you were such party people, you'd be out having a party, wouldn't you? As for me, I am a party maker and party destroyer. To destroy one, honestly, just go in there and be as loud as them and as annoying as them, JUST like them. They might just run you out or, they might think you're one of them. Either or, you can just go in there and cut the wires to their jams with little scissors and take some beers or freeload or something. Be exactly like them, show them how they're acting. You'll be mocking them, surely ;] just from experience...you could throw your own party or crash theirs with a bunch of your friends, because, STRENGTH IN NUMBERS!!! =D in all honesty though, think of something else to do than kill them...parties are harmless ;3

It would be cool if everyone who is opposed to the OP could list their age, level and type of education, and current occupation. It would be pretty interesting to see the demographic.

In real life you can't just man it up. In real life people have jobs and routines and need sleep. A lot of tl members obviously have yet to realise these facts.

After 10pm it's 45dB max. So if you live in a "quiet area" and music comes and goes, you will reach that easily. Just call the cops, if the story repeats for some time you can file a noise complaint and you will have people come and measure the noise at your sleeping place (there's regulations for this too of course, noise has to be measured at 1 mt from the windows, etc, etc). This can get them into a lot of trouble (like having to cash in money for you, or for ways to keep the noise down). That's how it works here. If they are immature kids, as soon as they receive some visits from the police, or a note saying they have to pay money, I'm sure they will stop fucking with your sleep.

It would be cool if everyone who is opposed to the OP could list their age, level and type of education, and current occupation. It would be pretty interesting to see the demographic. I think most of the posters are exaggerating how much they actually party, for the sake of e-cred. For some people it's very important to their self-esteem that people think they go to a lot of parties. See MarklarMarklar's blogs. I would venture to guess for most TLers, a party is defined as 6 or 7 people drinking beers on the couch or deck. Which is fine, but it's not the same noise you get from a house of people falling over each other, accidentally breaking things, and generally trying talk over each other getting louder and louder which is most likely what this guy is experiencing. Earbuds aren't really going to fix that. I own aircraft grade noise cancellers that people use who work near aircraft to protect their hearing, and those don't kill the noise of a really loud party (not to mention the pressure they put on the skull hurts after awhile). I think most of the people defending their 'hardcore' partying don't know what a real party is, and how disruptive and annoying it is.

Now i understand that he has to work and sleep, and moving isn't easy or doable but if you think you can stop any partying in a student apartment complex then i'm sorry for you, you're forgetting about your college times, just remember about it. Call police to do what? Unless there are many people in your situation i doubt they'll do anything, not like they even have anything to do. You guys do need to remember your youth and college times and you'll see why solutions like those will just not work.

Like everybody else already said, using them would easily protect you from any party noise. Another idea: Call in the cops. People never do that in Brazil, but I see it being done all the time in american movies so you could give that a try.

You're probably just going to have to file a complaint. Chances are there are other people who are annoyed by it if it really is that loud.

![]() A few parties every so often is fine but when we're talking about consistent 7am parties that don't keep quiet even after you politely ask them to, i think thats bang out of order. Do you realise it takes at least a few days to sort out a fucked up sleeping pattern and theres no way you can enjoy your day or even be productive if you're tired ALL the time. I cant believe theres so many ppl that think its ok. I would actually feel embarrassed trying to argue that these people are in the right. Noones saying people shouldnt party, this is about being reasonable and respecting people you live with. The guy went there politely at 1:30 AND 5:00 am and they still didnt stop. Please tell me you guys wouldnt do the same?

You live in a loud apartment complex, and it will be loud as long as there are a bunch of college kids living there. If it's a different party every night, there's no stopping it. You can try cutting speaker cables, being dick, etc... but you'll probably just end up as that crazy asshole who everyone hates. And they'll still party (maybe even making that extra effort to bother you!). You picked a shitty place to live, dude. Shoulda done your research better.

just, if its any consolation to you- i live in a house now, and i can usually count on friday or saturday nights, i wont be sleeping untill like 3AM because my neighbors will usually stand out in their driveway, or back yard, drink, and litteraly just yell and laugh as loud as they can. bascially, saying, "look everyone, im partying and having a good time and im cool". i find it very immature and disrespectful to others that most people find it totally fine to make as much noise as they want, at any time. though- those who desire peace and quiet, are the assholes. ironically, i also play in a punk band, and we practice at least 1X and sometimes 2X a week. we always stop playing before 8pm and only play for 2hours at a time. why? id like to think that if people are bothered by it they will know at least it wont go on for a long time, and it will be over at a certain time. the people who just yell for no reason, behind my house, do it for like 8 hours. its, funny sometimes, but when you want to sleep, it pisses you off. i agree with the guy who says their is no solution. part of living in a city with people will always involve this- even if you live in your own house. im sorry about your situation man.
