I miss election night 2004. That was a fun night.

Really? I thought that night was the destroyer of hopes and dreams?

No it was amazing. Tom Daschle out of the senate, GOP gains in both houses, and Kerry lost.

Its doesn't get any better.

You're happy about where that took us?

To victory in Iraq and 2 good judges on the Supreme Court.

EDIT: Mostly the judges.

did you really just say victory in iraq?

Well, I don't see any major military operations. Seems to have calmed down a lot. Seems like we can start bringing troops home soon.

So yes. That is good. Better than quitting in the middle

EDIT: presidency should be settled by a good bloody battle in starcraft... only those who can both micro their units(citizens) and macro their games w/ a nice build (strategy) should be allowed to be the president... hahaha seriously wat doesn't starcraft have that a president should... other than the whole speech and charisma thing... but i think FBH stlye could pull that up as well

as silly as it sounds to normal, sensible people, having a black president will do wonders with foreign relations and the image of the united states overall

No, they've been acting like Republicans have since Goldwater lost.

Earlier in the thread, people brought up the planned assassination attempt against him.

Because he is the first black president, that would be particularly damaging to the United States, our race relations, and international relations.

It would be about the worst possible outcome.

Doesn't look like the dems will get 60 senate seats.

McConnel kept his seat.

GOP can still filibuster.

you assume that every republican will want to filibuster
there are enough moderates in the republican party that not having 60 dems might not be a problem
not to mention the fact that not every democrat is going to like every proposed law
whether he'd help to filibuster his own party though..who knows

actually it's widely believed that the republican party will shift to the right if tonight is a landslide, reason being that the more moderate republicans coincidentally occupy the seats most vulnerable to a Dem tidal wave.

It's not like there is any doubt about the election. I guess the news channels don't want to state the plain fact that Obama obviously wins because they won't want people to switch off. All my channels are no it anyway though so I really can't watch anything else.

+1
Someone has said something really good about this and I love the image:

" Imagine a random iranian who all his life has been tell that the americans are all a bunch of rich whites racists...and then he wakes up the 5th november with the new president of USA having almost the same name as his neighbour and the same skin tone as him."
