Well in a philosophical perspective it would have been the same too make two people who havent given their consent fight...
Or was this an attempt at humor? Not the same as people. These animals have no idea that they're fighting for sport or any rational idea whats going on whatsoever. Technically, they could never give consent. And on the other hand, most animal fights, especially between relatively slow animals like insects, are usually boring. I'd much rather see a fight between two consenting people(aka MMA). Does it matter if they're "not the same as people"? Inflicting harm on living creatures for your own perverse amusement is sick. How you can find grasshoppers, crawfish, and scorpions visibly writhing in pain entertaining is just beyond me. It's just cruel and disgusting.
personally i've always wondered how nature's weapons would fare against each other and bugs have some of the most highly developed weapons that have been evolved. the way the hercules beetle managed to beat a scorpion and appear impervious to stinging was highly interesting to me, especially considering how the bug that i don't recognize (5th from the bottom, right) manages to overpower the hercules beetle with leverage and lift him multiple times.
stuff like the crawfish vs scorpion made me cringe when the stinger hit the eye, and i'm not really interested in things like claw vs. claw just as much as i'm not interested in two pitbulls trying to rip each others throats out. i'm not the kind of person who endorses animal fights, that shit disgusts me and the fact that this is not far off from that is saddening but i look at it more as a science project or something.
with that said, are there any ant vs. x vids? certain ants are known badass fighters with really nasty bites and i think even 1 bull ant would be a good fight for a lot of the bugs they have.

I don't get excitement or joy, but I did find it interesting.

Man the beetle vs scorpion fight was AWESOME. He straight up lifted the scorpion and just crunched his face. That is manly.
And the scorpion vs hornet fight was awesome too. Dude gets BODY slammed from like five times his own height AND gets stuck with venom. His response was to flip around a bit, get back on his feet, and go after the scorpion again. Ofc the scorpion calmly stabbed him in the chest with more venom and the hornet died. But that's one bad ass hornet for you. Deserves a MoH imo.

The beetle like thing was a baller. And the grass hopper ... never give up, never surrender! ^^

Holy crap that beetle
It's almost as manly as Reach

man reading my comments in this thread is really painful

You could see it this way. If you die, you are to weak to live on. If those insects were caught by humans, they weren´t strong enough to avoid beign captured. If they die in that cage, they weren´t strong enough to live on. If someone comes into my room right now and kills me, i am not strong enough to live on. Nothing is strong enough to live on. Thats nature. Leave it be.

Did anyone see the "special match" which was some sort of maniacal cricket versus a centipede with really weird long legs? That was the only one which really disgusted me as the centipede didn't even fight. He kept trying to walk away, while the cricket systematically just chewed his legs off (of which there were many). At the end of the fight, there was literally a PILE of limbs strewn across the floor, while the cricket rabidly gathered them inwards, as if they were firewood, and hunched over them gnawing away. It was just really bizarre and macabre.
Speaking of which, does anyone know what type of bug that weird cricket thing was? It seemed much more aggressive than the average cricket and had a head that reminded me of a carpenter ant.

The scorpion versus the... lobster? some sort of crustacean anyway... was awesome xD

Pretty neat, if only for the fact that this is the only way you can really see how it "might" turn out if such bugs were pitted against each other, though it is not a very accurate representation, considering the environmental constraints (such as lack of room for flight, and uncomfortably strange surroundings for some of the other bugs). Then, to actually see any true results of the bouts, you'd have to run each fight multiple times. Point is, it really isn't that informative, for those who say that is a main reason they like watching it. However, there really is no other way to properly answer questions such as "who would win, a scorpion or a hornet?" except if you actually pit them against each other.
So, while I can't help but feel disgusted by such selfish behavior as having anything kill one another for one's own amusement (in any facet), I am also interested, as the fights have already occurred, so refusing to watch them out of disgust would be of little consequence, except to promote a feeling of superiority for dismissing the videos in the first place. Interesting, though cruel, either way.
