Personally the way I see it is that we have been constantly lied to about 'They were terrorists' by the IDF since the very beginning of this war. Only when some evidence comes out that someone they blasted wasn't a terrorist at all do they then backtrack.
Its not a good basis for running a court that decides who to kill on the basis of being a terrorist.
Again though, if you trust them that's your choice.

These people would be convicted in Israeli military court of being terrorists.

That's just one example of many.

"Al Jazeera said" is also not proof of innocence for every case. Ismael Abu Omar was journalisming from inside Israel on October 7th saying how great it was, no? Seems unusual at best. There are confirmed UNRWA members who were not only in Hamas but aided October 7th. I'm sure every profession has such double agents, including some journalists. That out-of-play respect for medics or journalists is mostly an invention of Western rules of war and it has to go both ways. When journalists play both sides of the field it's perfidy. Or hospitals hiding weapons caches.

The point is that the IDF obviously fabricated this evidence. As if Hamas keeps lists of journalists with things like '[Journo's name] - Sniper' written on them lol. Absolutely ridiculous.

You are assuming your own conclusion that a journalist cannot also be in Hamas. That's circular.

They would have a list of Hamas people, and then that person would also be a journalist affiliated with a different organization. Why wouldn't they have personnel rosters? Lists of operatives? Communication records? Is your belief Hamas has no paper trail, like it's a massive Fight Club? Or do you mean for a journalist agent specifically it would be top secret super covered up with no provable record?

I'm not offering a solution, other than simply imprisoning these people and holding trials to determine whether they stay imprisoned.
I'm simply saying I don't trust the IDF to determine whether any Palestinian gets to live, because they constantly lie about people being terrorists as an excuse to kill Palestinian people. They aren't going to suddenly stop doing that now.

Despite not stopping, they have apparently highly reduced that at least.

There is quite alot of space between 'secret super covered up' and 'written out in the most convenient possible terms for Israel' and if the paperwork did exist it was probably somewhere within that space.

Would you believe it if an EU operative went to Russia and found a piece of paper saying 'we blackmailed Donald Trump in 2015 to permanently weaken America on the world stage to Russia's advantage - Signed - PUTIN' ?

Some things are just implausibly convenient and this is one of those.

That's not independent from the pool of what cases are tried. If you put hydrochloric acid on an acid test, it will give you pH under 7 every time. If you try people with the strongest levels of evidence, you will get guilty verdicts every time.

There is a whole WiKi page for the journalists that have been killed by IDF during this war:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_journalists_in_the_Gaza_war

I already posted this when it happened, it's a great piece of journalism, it's very obvious that these were journalists, IDF with no warning fired a tank shell, then another, when asked for comment they said "they are sorry" and moved on. No investigation, no repercussions for the soldiers. That was October 2023. That builds a culture.

https://www.reuters.com/graphics/ISRAEL-LEBANON/JOURNALIST/akveabxrzvr/

Let's fast forward to 2025 in August, when IDF killed 22 people, rescue workers and (again) Reuters camera man, they were at a stairwell of a hospital, a known gathering spots for journalists, this article goes into details, again, plenty of visual evidence and absolute proof disclaiming IDF and Israeli politician claims:

https://www.reuters.com/investigations/visual-evidence-upends-israels-official-story-deadly-attack-gaza-hospital-2025-09-26/

No one from IDF has even been investigated for this, they are, when asked for comment saying they are still thinking about it:

https://www.nbcnews.com/world/gaza/year-israeli-strikes-killed-journalists-hospital-no-one-held-accountab-rcna594406

These are just the 2 very clear cases of IDF deliberately, with precision targeting and murdering journalists, lying about it and then refusing to investigate.

They didn't even try to claim, in these cases that the journalists are Hamas, as the authoritarian super fans here would like to get you to bog down this in to.

So when you are an Israeli and join IDF, especially if you are younger and have been exposed to all of the dehumanization and other anti-Palestinian and anti-Muslim propaganda, and at this point anti-Journalist propaganda, you go into Gaza and you know that if you decide to kill a journalist (or a kid, or a woman) no one will hold you responsible, in fact, you will be celebrating with your friends after.

So, are you a pessimist? - On my better days. Are you a nihilist? - Not as much as I should be.

Both these points are irrelevant and I'm in no mood to be taken for a ride around the suburbs of the conversation. Like I said, if you want to believe that the IDF is a trustworthy judge of whether or not any Palestinian is a terrorist, that is your choice.

Yes I'm sure Stalin's government said something similar about the trials they held.

Let’s split the difference. It’s not genocide because they’re not just killing all the Gazans at once, they’re creating a scenario where Gazans are a renewable victim source and then killing them in a sustainable way to maximize Gazan suffering. Do we have a word for that? Seems like genocide is a bit too mild. It’s different, but it’s also worse.
