Votes are still coming in/being counted in bigger areas. The race is still close.

They're still counting, they're just not live reporting the counts because it'd be silly to update it each time a new vote arrived. They've counted the votes they've got but they plan to count any votes that were postmarked before the election and were delayed by USPS. They'll give us an update on Thursday. That seems reasonable.

This is so scary. It's already going to take decades to repair the damage Trump has done to the world and to american democracy. I don't want to imagine what he could do in four more years.

The problem is that the remaining votes in NV are day of returns of mail in ballots (which NV quirk they mailed mail in ballots to everyone). I suspect that favors Trump because it is day of vote (essentially). It's going to be super close.

Would that be acceptable in your country? Pim Fortuyn was murdered on May 6, 2002. He was still electable on May 15. Granted, that's 9 days instead of a month, but he was also the personification of his party and his politics, whereas this guy is more like somoene way downballot on the list. No clue what the Dutch would do, but one of the key differences is that while people are important in Dutch elections, your primary vote is for the party, not for the person. The personal votes (voting for specific candidates for any given party) only affect the "ranking" within a party, the total seats they get is determined by the total of votes for the party. So people voting for dead people is considerably less important: one may firstly assume that a vote for the dead people is still a vote for the party, and the ideals and policy proposals that party supports. Someone else in that party is expected to represent the same (but may do it with less flair/charisma, or a different personal focus).

Nevada counted pretty much everything. And unless lots of the late arrival votes and absentee broke for Trump witch is unlikely since Biden has been running up huge margins there it should stay blue

Not true. They're not counting day of returns of mail in ballots yet. Literally the Nevada Election (confirmed) twitter reported this.
Here’s what is left to count:
-Mail ballots received on Election Day -Mail ballots that will be received over the next week -Provisional ballots
Ballots outstanding is difficult to estimate in Nevada because every voter was sent a mail ballot. Obviously, not all will vote.

I see
And there are enough uncounted votes that the tossup states can still change colour at any time?

Yes. Although I don't want to give hope, some of the remaining states have not started counting mail in ballots yet, which overwhelmingly support Biden

I mean, if the US was a successful democracy, Biden would have crushed Trump tonight. Electoral college, voter suppression, all those favour Trump. Not talking about gerrymandering when it comes to other races.
Just for fairness sake: There is gerrymandering in Europe as well (France too). It's kinda normal in Germany, part of politics in school in my case even, a long time ago. Voted officials have the power to change district lines. After the unification e.g. the conservative majority made sure to disadvatage the left in Berlin.

Can people please remember that if Trump loses tonight, he can continue to lead the republican party and run again in 2024 ? Wouldn't that be even worse than him winning now ? I mean, as usual the dems would have to get the finances of the country out of the gutter, that is increasing taxes probably, and then you'll get the comments from Trump every day, again. And probably a 100% win in 4 years.
I don't even know what would be worse... But my head is hurting. The fact that it's that close is so baffling to the 80% of europeans that are not nuts. I remember that I was already baffled when Bush got reelected, but it gets worse every time, I can't even... And that's the leader of the free world... (for now)

Almost zero percent chance of Trump rerunning if he loses. The amount of court cases (both criminal and civil) he has queued up against him will not be kind. He is likely to try to escape to Russia (which he himself claimed he would do. If you ever wonder what Trump plans on doing next, he'll probably already said it himself)

Even if Trump wins, Trump Jr. would be the next candidate probably... lol.
