Yes, and that’s my point. It’s really fucking objectively stupid. If he presented these “strategies” at even any business meeting the adults in the room would just fire him for not understanding anything about negotiation. I doubt he would even make it out of a pitch meeting. But for some reason, I’m guessing them never actually being a part of any business to business negotiation, think this is a good strategy because they get to feel macho before they get the worst deal the other side is willing to tolerate? It makes no sense that people can see his two page playbook, watch it never work in real time, over and over, and still think he’s a master negotiator | ||

Each and every one of them knows that this is Trump being buddies with Milei while he doesn't like the new UK PM because he's young and (relatively) popular, and yet tomorrow they will have to go on the news and just think up "rational" explanations as to why this is in US national interest. There really is no human beings on the planet that I have less respect then those guys, guys like Rubio and Vance especially, being willing to prostitute yourself like that is quite a feat. I guess being a politician self selects for being able to do something like that, but god damn son. | ||

They're in the middle of the ocean, far outside the territorial waters of anyone, and are basically unassailable. We have a base on the ground there, nobody else does, and in a competition of who sinks last recent events in the Middle East have shown a very strong advantage to the guy with his feet on solid ground. Presumably he thinks that the UK can only hold them due to US protection because that's his default position on everything but there is an RAF base there with a squadron of typhoons. | ||

It was an artificial conflict generated by a military dictator to manufacture a nationalist popularity surge after he mismanaged the country and somehow it outlived that dictator. And now indoctrinated Argentinians are apparently taking it seriously, even though Britain did them a favour by killing their occupiers, sinking their ships, and in doing so toppling their shitty government. | ||
