Republicans are, right now, trying to work out regulatory schemes where they can make sure the government finds out whenever someone gets pregnant so they can stop them from leaving the state, try to prosecute them for stuff they do in other states, etc. Many of these bills also have provisions (I’d say “obviously unconstitutional” provisions but I don’t think that’s a given anymore) to prevent people from spreading information about how to get abortions, transporting them across the border to get abortions, etc.
If you really think the only reason I’d call that creepy and authoritarian is because I’m pro-choice, you have a strong tolerance for tyranny. Is there any source of Republicans trying to stop pregnant people from leaving a state? I tried to search for it and couldn't find anything. This is what I saw that made me post that:

Might be fake I suppose, if someone has a better source I’d appreciate it. Or if you can find conclusively that it’s fake let me know and I’ll edit.

None of those bills ban leaving a state when pregnant. As much as you hate what the Republicans are doing, don't spread fake news.

This is the bill relevant to the tweet.

Oh sure, if a pregnant woman goes on vacation they’re not gonna try to stop her (so far anyway). But that “aiding and abetting” clause is gonna get real broad if she gets an abortion while she’s gone.

twitter.com Hopefully not a double post. Staggering footage from recent GOP debate with Cheney. It’s her versus literal children, little rhetoric machines, and faulty ones at that

Just don’t fuck up the, pretty bloody basic talking points.

I guess those states won't be visited by pregnant persons anymore, why would one risk dying in a middle of a vacation ? It really feels like the supreme court is trying its hardest to look as partisan as possible, with a quick series of rulings. But I don't see Biden making it official and packing it. He's not the type to destroy institutions nor does he have the influence to do so.

Biden would rather still play by norms and rules while Republicans are igniting the Supreme Court as an institution, scorching yet more ground for political gain. Let's wring our hands a little more about how disappointing the Republicans are and remind ourselves that there's nothing we can do.
It also doesn't help that now that Biden is on board with torching the filibuster for abortion rights, Manchin and Synema still won't go for it. There was never a left-wing majority in the Senate. So between the fact that the Senate can stall everything, the Supreme Court can de facto rewrite the laws we have, and the president has all the impetus of a snail to fix things, the outlook ain't great.

Democrats probably should have nominated the firebrand over the guy whose clumsy navigation of his own sexism/racism helped Clarence Thomas make it onto the court and is fond of reminiscing of the times when he could chat up segregationist colleagues/friends.

He won the primary. When you say Democrats do you mean primary voters?

Yeah whenever people talk about “why not choose the progressive”, I am left wondering if they remember the primary happening where they lost. Gosh if only West Virginia elected a socialist instead of Manchin. Pelosi should have made that happen?? Or something??

I mean Democrats nominated the wrong candidate if they wanted someone to boldly fight against Republicans destroying democracy, instead they nominated the guy who ran on cooperating with Republicans.

When asked how long American drivers should expect to deal with high fuel prices, Biden told reporters "as long as it takes, so Russia cannot in fact defeat Ukraine and move beyond Ukraine." He continued, "this is a critical, critical position for the world."
Biden's approval rating has sharply fallen this year with much of the decline attributable to voters anxious about the spike in gas prices. Rising inflation is eating into paychecks when Americans go shopping at the grocery store or pay rent.
I am heartened to see that, having failed to be willing to do anything to actually address the issue, our president has at least provided a feel-good scapegoat. My wallet is feeling lighter already.

It's like...every democrat is going to say they want to work with the Rs to get things done and when the Rs say "Ha, fuck you!" who's really going to push back? Sanders? He would be in the same boat as Biden. Left standing around looking like a loss Travolta meme. We may have gotten some good soundbites but that would have been it. The boldness to say "Fuck the constitution and everything the US stands for, my way or the highway" takes a certain breed of person and let's be honest, there are very few of those running/in political office on the Dems.

The progressive candidates ended up doing well across the California primaries just held. Thank fuck that asshole Rick Caruso will almost certainly get defeated in the runoff. Also nice to see opponents of mass incarceration getting strong results for judge and sheriff offices
