A person close to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell tells CBS News that the leader supports impeaching Mr. Trump but will not publicly discuss his views until the House formally sends the article of impeachment to the Senate for a trial. The New York Times first reported that McConnell privately backs the impeachment of the president. https://www.cbsnews.com/live-updates/trump-impeachment-house-vote-2021-01-13/?ftag=CNM-00-10aab7e&linkId=109055538#post-update-53bb1854. By US terms it's sedition. Treason is an almost impossibility by US law - it involves giving aid to someone who congress has declared war with (which we haven't done since uh, 1950s?). In 250 years there have only ever been 30 people charged with it, and only 1 execution. edit: Also, more and more reports are coming out that house Rs are literally in tears because they're afraid for their family's lives if they vote for impeachment. Idiots, morons, they're the ones who caused this through their own incompetent bootlicking. (And lots of them are complaining that the new metal detectors at the entrance are a violation their constitutional rights, to show that they're still stupid).

Damn, that means Trump's almost certainly going to be convicted. McConnell is fine with hate being directed at him and it gives cover for literally everyone else to vote. He's probably too old/infirm for another term. He may play procedural games to get it in Biden's first few days, but he can also ram it through before then - depends on what his motives are. https://www.cbsnews.com/live-updates/trump-impeachment-house-vote-2021-01-13/?ftag=CNM-00-10aab7e&linkId=109055538#post-update-53bb1854. Also, masks do not fit with the "covid-19 is a hoax" conspiracy theory. Masks or not, just calling for the rally these days should be considered a felony. Thousands might die because of it. those people who did what they did deserve death.

What doubt is there now there he was a full fledged dictator and much closer to a mafia figure than to a president. The embarrassment that he is, is completely clear now. The Republican party, and everyone who voted for him, especially in 2020 needs to take a hard look in the mirror at their priorities and realize that they are completely fucked up. The only reason you should have, and should continue to support Trump is if you believe that the US is under control of a deep state pedophile ring that eats the goo from the adrenal gland of their child victims to stay young and powerful. Also that Trump is sent from god to stop them. And if you believe that, yikes. And every person who threw their hands in the air saying "well gosh I sure wish I had another option, but voting for a democrat is clearly worse" shoulders blame. Everyone who insisted there was no alternative to Trump is guilty of enabling this.

She added: "Wednesday [Jan. 6] was an extremely traumatizing event and it is not an exaggeration to say that many many members of the House were nearly assassinated. It's just not an exaggeration to say that at all. We were very lucky that things happened within certain minutes that allowed members to escape the House floor unharmed. But many of us narrowly escaped death." Ocasio-Cortez has made connecting directly with constituents through social media a part of her brand, taking them behind the scenes into what life as a Congresswoman is like, hosting candid conversations and sharing videos like her receiving the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination. In her video on Tuesday, she said she felt unsafe in the secure room where she was held with other lawmakers while the Capitol was under lockdown. "I myself did not even feel safe going to that extraction point, because there were QAnon and white supremacist sympathizers and frankly white supremacist members of Congress in that extraction point, who I know, and who I had felt would disclose my location and allow me to, who would create opportunities to allow me to be hurt, kidnapped, etc." Source

Anyway, given how competent those traitors were, i'm sure there are recordings of the people who provided schematics/destroyed alarms.
