If the group were 10% more organized, they very well could have taken Congress hostage and done a lot more damage. You're wondering why people that didn't wear masks while committing domestic terrorism on livestream during the only time period in history requiring everyone to carry masks around weren't more organized?

Ideally you'd have at least one or two competent, evil people capable of organizing the crowd in an event like that. Evidently they had enough forethought to tour the Capitol and get a couple Congressmen on board with the whole thing, but they got baited by silly things like an officer taking a turn away from the entrance to the Senate floor. Really, it's amazing how close they were to doing a whole lot of damage but bungling that little last bit. Perhaps not necessarily surprising, but certainly amazing.

On a related note, J Edgar Hoover is rolling in his grave over the fact that he died before he could potentially charge sitting congresspeople like this lol Screw a few sitting congresspeople he could go after the president himself. I don't know if he'd vote for trump or if his wife being russian would have been a deal-breaker. Either way he'd be positively aroused to get even a former president on tax fraud. Could you imagine what he would have done with all the parler data and the way that people spread their location and face on sites that he can get with auto-approved FISA warrants? He would have torn through all those people in order to get cover for assassinating more black leaders.

Even then it was a matter of not following the Black officers left and instead going right and they would have been right outside of the unsecured Senate shelter.

They were so racist and stupid that their brains shut off when they saw a black officer and they chased him like lemmings. It's honestly amazing (and makes me suspect that the officer has a lot of experience with these types, given the way he taunted them and stayed juuust out of reach of them the whole time). Here's some more footage showing they had access to floor plans (via WaPo writer) : Apparently there's serious discussion about expelling qanoners Majorie Taylor-Greene and Boebert.

As we discuss how poorly this went, we should remember if the terrorists hadn't followed the officer, we'd be having very different conversations right now.

And considering masks effectiveness Trump politicizing them cost the economy billions if not trillions. It is going to be hard to rank all of Trumps worst decisions but that one has to be in the top 10. I haven't talked to all of them, but considering how many videos the insurrectionists took of themselves, not wearing masks could be just as much about wanting to prove their presence to their peers. Also, masks do not fit with the "covid-19 is a hoax" conspiracy theory. Masks or not, just calling for the rally these days should be considered a felony. Thousands might die because of it.

Its too transparent. Positioning themselves to blame democrats and the impeachment when Trump's moron followers do whatever they're going to do next.

Telling people not to rock the boat when bad things happen to you is also by the book rural America thinking. This goes along with the cultural development stuff. The idea that rocking the boat is always a bad thing is some medieval shit.

They just need to get off their regressive crazy horse and join the sane people. But of course that is not what they mean or want. When they say "we need unity", they mean "you should come to us so we can be united here". The idea of changing even the smallest detail about themselves or their politics to unite with others doesn't even cross their minds.
