Even better: All the people who were arm chair calling for insurrection and violent civil war are now saying "that was ANTIFA, not us".

It is likely hugely positive for Republicans if Trump is not a possibility. No way he is getting impeached unless they are 100 % certain they have republican votes. Otherwise they are just stupid. Having Trump both as a boogyman and tearing holes in the GOP is an incredible asset for 2024.

(CNN)The mob of Trump supporters who stormed the US Capitol on Wednesday included conspiracy theorists linked to QAnon and the Proud Boys -- two right-wing extremist factions that President Donald Trump repeatedly refused to condemn during his election campaign last year. The insurrection at the heart of America's democracy, egged on by Trump's rhetoric, represented a stunning show of force for the fringe movements and their adherents. Four people were left dead during the mayhem, according to the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, including one woman shot by a U.S. Capitol Police officer and three other people who had medical emergencies. One of the most recognizable figures in the videos and photos of the chaos on Capitol Hill was a man in his 30s with a painted face, fur hat and a helmet with horns. The protester, Jake Angeli -- known by followers as the QAnon Shaman -- quickly became a symbol of the bizarre and frightening spectacle as photos circulated of him roaming the Capitol halls holding an American flag affixed to a spear in one hand and a bullhorn in the other, and even standing shirtless atop the Senate dais. I hope she means it in a Stop Trump Way and not in the Let’s Be Nice to Shitty Republicans way, but I’m worried. EDIT: Pelosi refusing to commit to a timeline is pissing me off too, if you invoke Schumer then fucking say you’ll impeach him if we don’t 25th him today. Do not waffle like this.

What was Robert E Lee thinking by signing the cease fire agreement!? It's like you guys want civil unrest or more. People can be scum, but people are misguided due to there being one too many platforms for the misguidance to intoxicate young people's minds.

We need the sane ones but we cannot accept unity with them unless they’re willing to remove their most severely offending members. Unity can mean a lot of things and when Democrats usually invoke it it never amounts to anything good. Again, I hope I’m wrong, I hope it’s unity to remove the psychotic seditious congresspeople, but I cannot accept seeing unity with people like Ted fucking Cruz.

What does it even mean to remove the severely offending members? You mean house/senate people voting against certifying the vote? In my eyes, impeaching and removing Trump is the most important thing, but it would also be nice to remove everyone who objected.

Unfortunately, I don't know how we actually figure out who does and does not support the assault. Plenty of Republicans (leadership and constituents) have been standing unified behind Trump for years, and now some of them are pikachu-facing with shock at how this could have happened... they say that they don't support the assault, yet they absolutely do, because they supported Trump's rhetoric and actions for years. Tens of millions of people. The vast majority of the Republican party. For me, personally, I draw the line at whether or not someone voted for Trump *a second time*. If you voted for him the first time, I think it's cringeworthy but maybe you just got conned hard. Fool you once, shame on Trump. But if four years of Trump didn't convince you to not vote for him in 2020, then shame on you. At that point, you're dead to me. And that happens to be nearly every single Republican who voted in this election. The "sane part", to me, is the set of Republicans who didn't vote for Trump in 2020. And that's a pretty small part.
