Hawley claims that this objection is vital to the process.
Now moving towards Pennsylvania laws and why PA election was bad. He's harping on the use of mail-in ballots and the rule changes last year. Wait I'm sorry, am I misinterpreting this, are we seeing Republicans DOUBLE DOWN on this election fraud bullshit? Oh most certainly. Matt Gaetz still wants to reject the electors and said in his speech that the people who stormed the capitol are actually antifa
Theres actually no way that the US can survive the continued existence of the Republican party.

Seriously, the day of a literal insurrection breaching the fucking Capitol building and we have these actual lunatics spouting this bullshit?
We can't possibly seriously consider letting them keep their positions? We can't possibly let Cruz or Hawley or Gaetz keep their positions right?
There has to be SOMETHING we can do, because while I talk shit about and am deeply cynical and pessimistic about politicians all the time this is crossing some serious lines that even I find surprising.
What do we have to do to get every fucking republican who contributed to literal insurrection ejected from their positions in Congress? 'Cause they're not going anywhere without force, I'd be willing to bet every last one of these fucks would win reelection if they make it through their terms. Can we let these people continue to be a part of government? Can we seriously let them get away with this? If they keep their positions after this shit show its an utter failure of our government to hold itself accountable and a failure on the citizenry I am so loathe to criticize to hold our politicians accountable.
Fucking hell.

Honestly hope we can get Cruz out of office way before 2024. Absolute disgrace of a politician

is that talking about today? So it's 4 people who died and not just the 1 woman?
11:10 p.m.
Four people died as supporters of President Donald Trump violently occupied the U.S. Capitol.
Washington, D.C., Police Chief Robert Contee said the dead on Wednesday included a woman who was shot by the U.S. Capitol Police, as well as three others who died in “medical emergencies.”

Medical emergencies? I’m assuming we’ll learn more eventually

The multiplier is way, way, way past "doubling" at this point.

These people came in totally expecting the police to back them because they're white patriots, imagine the shock when the police start using force on them. Add in getting maced while having coronavirus, its no surprise some of them are getting heart attacks and the like.

Matt Gaetz is a special kind of awful. Its only a matter of time before its found out hes involved in some form of corruption. You dont pal around with Trump and be his lap dog for that long without getting dirty.

Fucking hell. It would be really nice to have a website where a user could search their states representatives and then filter by votes they went for or against. And then have people tweet or post when elections come around showing "hey look at this asshole, yeah right here, here is where they voted ye on this bullshit." and then the site kept track of everything

Honestly, swing states and everyone that went against Trump has to be prepared for every conspiracy laden protest movement to coalesce around Trump.
This means Whitmer and Raffensperger need to be prepared because they're absolutely going to be targets.

From memory 538 has this for senators.

We should not let any of these scumbags make it to their reelection campaign. They have to be ousted from Congress ASAP.
|
Talks about Trump beeing removed from office. I dont think it will happen but it would be kinda funny if all those bets that Trump wouldnt complete his term would have to be payed out at the very last moment.

Fucking hell. Have you noticed that as soon as one of Trump's loyal lieutenants sets a boundary they're not willing to cross for him, the crazy wing of the right jumps on them with fury? We've seen this with Barr, Pompeo, Pence, they've even chanted "destroy the GOP".
Have you noticed that those that keep crossing those boundaries and perpetuating those lies face no such adversity from the non crazy majority of conservatives?
This is the only explanation I can think of for why 121 House Republicans just voted to keep telling the crazy wing that yes, Santa is real.
|
Yeah, we have to seriously start having CONSEQUENCES for crossing these lines, we've had four years of line crossing with fuck all for consequences and this is the first of many potential culminations of that.
We CANNOT let them get away with it, they cannot get away with even something like a censure, they MUST be removed from office if we're going to have any chance of going forward maintaining an even vaguely sane government where we can expect to not have to experience progressively more fascistic coups as the proto-Fascists become less and less proto.
And I HATE that we have Joe Biden for president right now because of all of the people in the Democrat primaries he is probably the most likely to try and let them get away scot free out of some sense of "uNiTy" or something.

Irreversable damage for the GOP. Like how could they salvage this? The more traditional GOP conservatives could remove trump but then they are left with a party that wont go above 40% ever. On the other hand they got the court for over a decade to come so thats at least something. Sticking with Trump under these conditions seems impossible as well,i dont think Trump will ever be able to win an election again and the traditional conservatives probably wont put up with all this. I dont know if he will get removed from office but it seems quiet likely he will at least get kicked out of the party (is that even possible,i would assume yes). A fractured GOP,now if only the democrats would break up into a progressive party and a more traditional party as well then maybe there can be some real politics in the usa based on compromises instead of 1 party taking all and leaving the other halve of the country dissatisfied. That probably wont happen and maybe it wouldnt be a good idea for usa politics either, its not like continental europe and the rheinland model where compromises and cooperation between political partys are the norm. Its quiet interesting to see what will happen from here,a lot depends on bidens presidency i guess. Can he find a good middle ground between the more traditional democrats and the large group of progressive democrats while also possibly apeal to some of the moderate republicans.
|
I just wonder where we go from here. Even when Trump is finally gone, all these people aren't just going to go away. Fox news that feeds poison into their ears daily is not going away. And aside from a brief period of contrition I doubt the GOP will change significantly because of this. As much as we want to blame our leaders, we may be rotting from the bottom up.
