thank fucking god holy shit. But with planes already in the air, what is about to happen? Deeply hoping they turn the fuck around. The Planes in the air are theoretically safer then them being on the ground at the base. Presumably, they've just been scrambled to defend against a possible attack by other aircraft. Hope you're right. If we actually don't retaliate, I will be incredibly happy. I will be extremely surprised, but joyfully so.
Yeah seems like not retaliating is the right move. If this is Iran's entire response to Soleimani's killing, this is pretty much a big win for the US. We killed their top general, and in response they caused some property damage. This kind of shows that we kind push Iran around to a significant extent.

I hope that means no further escalation?

The few german soldiers stationed in Erbil are fine too.
Seems like a "save face" measure, we'll see where the US is taking this now. But, lets be very clear, this won't be the next "world war" that some people are suggesting.
The US, maybe its lapdog the UK. The rest of the world isn't stupid enough to follow the US into yet another war that they started (and make no mistake here, this is just the result of an escalation that's going on for decades - remember when the US handed out medals for shooting down an Iran Air civilian airliner, 300 or so deaths and flatout refused to even apologise?) and while Iran certainly isn't innocent, the aggressor here always was the US.

I would be amazed if Trump didn't retaliate. Not making a political point, not using words sarcastically, it would be an amazing development.

Yup, if there's a time to take to the streets to try to stop a possible war, that time is now

Anyone else find it hard to believe Trump isn't being suppressed? As in he wants to speak/tweet but is being forcibly stopped?

I'm sure he wants to tweet that we killed a high-ranking Iranian terrorist and they blew up some dirt and concrete, but it would be unwise. I'm sure they are figuring out exactly what to say. if the rockets or whatever were fired from inside Iran they prob need to be more forceful and calculated.

Idk if there were people in his administration who could stop him doing things, this timeline would have diverged a long time ago.

The lives of millions and millions of people (and probably the fate of the whole planet because good luck responding to climate collapse during ww3) currently depend on the little hamster running on its wheel in the brain of one senile old man.
Will his ego win? Or will someone be able to convince him that this is a win so he backs down?
This is absolutely mad.

This is absolutely mad. Well put. Members of the military's lives are currently resting on Trump's emotional stability
