Yes, that’s how you write a brief when you’re a dimeseeking First Amendment plaintiffs attorney, it’s zealous advocacy 101. One could look up the briefs in a hundred similar cases, 50 losers and 50 winner brought from both sides of the aisle, and find practically the same language dozens of times. Besides, if you really think you got a deep pocket like CNN against the ropes, you take that shit to trial and win on public terms. Confidential settlements lack a definite public character by design, which is why they are the bread and butter of plaintiffs attorneys who make a high-earning living on bringing marginally meritorious, yet zealously argued claims against risk averse deep pockets that are aimed directly at settlement rather than trial. The deep pocket swats the suit away because the exposure isn’t worth it, the plaintiff walks away feeling vindicated, and the lawyers end up with a nice chunk of change or political capital to spend elsewhere | ||

This is not going to end well. It's is kind of poetic for the US to end up in a new war when we hit page 2000 in here. Hope the soldiers were deep in their bunkers. But not sure how strong of a defense these bases have against actual ballistic missiles. | ||
