But it is important to remember this thirst for civil war round 2 has been on the minds of a large portion of the country since the day the traitors waved their white flag. They are still convinced they are the rightful owners of our country. Biden wouldn't change that.

Oy, the DNC really needs to just keep their heads down. Perhaps one of the most disliked groups ever. I hate them. The various establishment Democrat groups like the DNC and DCCC seem to be doing everything in their power to seem wildly out of touch and also seem to want to make it as simple as possible for people to doubt the process. They did the same thing in 2016 and they're making it abundantly clear that they've learned literally nothing.
I'm watching this debate. It appears the new common theme is "who gives a fuck what the Republicans think", which is good. This is a concept that should have been adopted long ago. The Republicans don't argue or campaign in good faith. Whatever any Democrat puts forth for policy will be criticized (probably in a dishonest manner. See the Republicans and Fox News claiming the Green New Deal banned eating beef and flight) by Republicans anyway so just ignore them. The Republicans had 2 years with total control of all 3 branches to fix the country in the way they claimed would work and all they did was make things measurably worse in ways that people can notice (particularly the tax changes). If that's their idea of good policy then it suffices to say they can be ignored until they actually put forth policy ideas that aren't complete and total garbage. With the current state of the Republican party, I cannot see that happening.
edit: this quote from Buttigieg sums it up well:
"If it's true that if we embrace a far-left agenda, they're gonna say we're a bunch of crazy socialists. If we embrace a conservative agenda, you know what they're gonna do? They're gonna say we're a bunch of crazy socialists. So let's just stand up for the right policy, go out there and defend it."

Even worse he'd placate them and the party would demand we suck it up because he's less overtly racist, warmongering, and incompetent than Trump and it would only embolden the groups of people you're talking about. They simply see that both parties are these things, so it only matters to what end.

They will fight us, just a matter of if we fight back or not.

Warren doesn't seem to be fairing too well tonight, think this and the next debate might cement the race in people's minds as Sanders and Warren as VP (her highlight was defending Bernie's M4A against Republican talking points), vs Biden with Harris as VP.

This debate needs some Jim Webb

"you don't have to yell" oh shut up dude
Bernie is doing much better this debate than the last

Going full "urban" is really weird in a discussion on racism.

O'Rourke, Buttigieg and Harris do a really good job at talking about racism in a way that shows Republicans we aren't being unreasonable. Sanders and Warren say the same things while sounding unreasonable.

A lot depends on the debates still imo. If Biden shits the bed again, I think buttigieg has a chance at being the new Biden. I dunno. It's all in the air, just saying Biden is surprising me. People over 50 just love them some Biden. None of the things that make him unacceptable to people under 45 even budges his over 50 support. Who knows what electorate modeling pollsters are using though? I'd be impressed if Democrats managed to be so terrible that they actually manage to put Biden up against Trump.
The thing with models is that people over 50 actually vote. If you're modeling based on the 18-29 demographic you're going to end up with the wrong result because that demographic votes at basically half the rate of the older people.

Yeah they wield the language quite well while living lives/taking action that is to the opposite impact.
Bernie nailed his reparations answer relative to his previous race takes though.

How Williamson is on stage at this point is beyond me. She reminds me of my Aunt who had too much wine at Thanksgiving.

Warren mentioning that corporations have no loyalty or patriotism to/for the US is a good point I like hearing said on the stage. Not a big fan of the "patriotism" part but I get the meaning.

There's a lot of ways to frame it, but Bernie's push to cancel student debt is pretty much perfect to change that dynamic. Never in their lives has their vote had so much easily recognizable and immediate value imo.
Hard not to vote for the guy who could just lift a $20-100k burden off your shoulders.

Don Lemon brings up the point that Delaney is worth $65 million and thus would be subject to Elizabeth Warren's wealth tax proposal. As he finishes asking Delaney the question Warren gets all excited looking and rubs her hands together:
This is some good shit right here.

To which Delaney pithily responded "F*ck them kids!", which as far as bumper sticker slogans from Democrats go, it's not the worst one they've come up with phonetically. That Cheshire grin was golden though.
Bernie really blew it... he thought the insurers were going to advertise (pay CNN) and it turned out it was big pharma

Reminds me of Kamala Harris recently. Elect me president so I can not be in the senate anymore where legislation to do this thing I'm talking about actually happens. If you actually want this agenda then you need Bernie to replace turtle as majority leader in the senate.
