A TL Admin makes a humerous (or not) post, and someone quotes it with "roflmao" or "ROFL gold" just to kiss ass (no offense to Admins here), when everyone knows that if someone relatively unknown made exactly the same post they would be flamed or ignored.
Whoever who does that, should be banned, TL admins, do not tolerate cock sucking, If you suck as a poster, if you post senseless crap (like some of my posts yes ) and if you are bad mannered, it's good bye for you.
The thing that annoys me, is the abundance of Whiny PvZ threads (not really), and the retarded new people who come and try to be funny and bump threads that are 2 years old. ;p.
Forum sheep i.e. herd mentality has got to be one of them.. i.e. all those mental midgets that wait to see what the preponderate opinion will be, to join in the idiot fest after.. With the sheep I like to include those that use one or two liners that say nothing or leave an ambiguous message, thus not only adding nothing, but making no commitment in their opinion i.e. cowards.
Wanabe e-bullies i.e. battle.boys who act tough and are spiteful on a forum, that add nothing and are in it for their own giggles or to vent their own feelings of inadequacy (see troll).
No-you're-wrong whiners i.e. those who are there ONLY to argue back, anything, the subject don't really matter, and specifically when they have never added much to the forum, community or game. They are those that argue for the sake of arguing, they have no intention of proving a point or convincing you of anything; all the want is for the argument to last forever as they cling for the attention.
Trolls* i.e. obvious. In general people that don't give a shit about the other members or the forum itself. There are many kinds, some worse than others.
Stoning rabble i.e. phucktwats that ask for a thread to be closed or someone to be banned. Here I include too those that do excessive back seat moderation (as tiffany so well put it see his post later).
Ungrateful phucks i.e. phuckers whom you leave a post helping them, or answering their question, or help them out in a PM and never even bother to say thank you.
The ghetto clown nerds i.e. a mild form of wanabe e-bully. They only leave posts that they (falsely) perceive as "funny" or hip. "funniness" and sounding hip is their primordial "directive" (pun intended since they are nerds, might as well use their language to describe them). Other than this they hardly ever add anything to the forums. They love leaving one or two words posts too, you know.. its easy. When stimulated they can turn into trolls or whiners. A synonym of immaturity. One caveat though, you will find them funny if you are immature yourself.
The scroll phukers i.e. They use double spacing or triple spacing or even more between their lines, sometimes even words, so that their 5 word post is as long as an essay thus abusing their space, literally, and abusing our scroll wheel/finger. A special type are the "huge text" & picture quoters i.e. they will quote a photo or pic or "huge text" ad naseum just adding clutter and nothing new.
There are purely attention seeking trolls. They do what they do because they are mainly seeking attention, even if it is in a negative and misguided way - the pissing off part is a by product. These guys are sometimes just passive aggressive personalities which can be easily be confused as pure trolls.
Nevertheless, there are even worse kinds of trolls. There is the "I am completely selfish and I don't care if you die" type of troll that loves being nasty and participates just to be able to hurt or harm other people. These too, are misguided haters with a deep feeling of inadequacy, i.e. the classic forum wanabe "e-bully" as mentioned.
Then there is the worst kind of all, the ones that do it with the specific intentional goal of ruining the forum, every thread and creating constant havoc . They usually are members of other failing forums, or that have already been rejected by another forum, who deep down are on a mission, consciously or unconsciously to ruin their new host forum.
i love this forum, every time i load it up, i start laughing at the ridiculous threads and their equally ridiculous responses.... no pet peeves here :D
lol, I've actually thought "when's the next pet peeve thread coming up?" because I had one in mind....
people who leave their ID name at the end of each post.... like this

Holy shit that annoys the hell out of me, especially when the post is really short. We KNOW IT'S YOU, THERE'S AN ID UP THERE FOR A REASON! I don't know why this annoys me so much but jeez.... [/rant]
1. People that pretend to be really smart or try to act that way but aren't. 2. People with an inflated sense of opinion 3. People who whine about people who whine about PvZ
also, live2win - some people put their own id in their post so that they can easily search for all posts that they've ever made by just searching their username

Yeah i agree here, except most people kinda stop doing that after awhile. The only person i can think of who still does it is Mynock ;] .
Its even worse when they add a word too like Rgds or something.
I forgot I also can't stand how some members who have been here like 1 1/2 years tops with thousands of posts get away with so much shit that other lower numbered posts members would never get away with.

I kinda like that. It's what makes TLnet NOT a "follow the rules" site. It's not a professional site trying to set a good example. It's pretty much a site saying "look, we all get along here fine. If you want in, that's fine but you gotta live with the things we do whether you like it or not. You don't like it, get out and don't come back, we're not here to make you happy."

I used to do that always up to about my 1000 post count. Dunno why I did it, was just a habbit I guess o_O
when people talk about shit they have no idea about as if theyre an expert. 80% of the posters in any of the "help/request" threads fall into this category
I actually have a couple of TL.net pet peeves, but the only one that comes to mind at the moment is:
- People linking to news stories that have been out for days, weeks sometimes. Maybe not even new stories, but shit thats been out for months. Stop lagging on the internet!
People who ONLY EVER quote other people as their entire post, or say "HAHAH" or "YEA" as their entire post. I can think of several 1000+ posters who've done this since day 1 and eluded the banstick somehow. I don't care about "lol" in a sharing a funny picture thread or something, but some people have one word replies for EVERY SINGLE POST.
Also hate when someone asks for something fucking obscure and someone else says USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION.
1. People who don't act humble and post as if they're better than everyone else. I might have been guilty of this a few times but I've tried to make a more conscious effort to be more humble in posts. This is the main reason why I hated on Dark]N[exuS so much. Yes some people have more posts than others, some know more about SC than others, but I think being humble is far greater than being proud. If you post really politely and try to encourage new posters to be better posters, imagine what a thriving community we could have. I used to be a terrible poster. Mycube actually told me I made wtf threads. I was determined not to be a bad poster and tried to contribute in any way I could. Now I've graciously been accepted as a scribe boy to keep some history.
2. People who start threads with <100 posts. It's okay if they do it for an interview or translation or news post. But a lot of times, those with <100 posts just haven't gotten the gist of the site and could have spent at least 5 more minutes and found the answer to what they were looking for.
3. OPs of Tourney threads that DON'T put the results in spoiler tags or put ANY info about the coming matches. If you're gonna make a tourney thread, it has some responsibilities with it. Put some previews, I mean HonestTea does all the work literally. All you gotta do is copy and paste and give credit to the sexy man. If you're gonna start the thread for the tournament, you might as well stay til the end or put the results of what you saw so far.
4. "Diarrhea" threads Coined by the great Manifesto, the words speaks for itself. It's like a totally unnecessary thread spills out even though it can be answered if they just reading the freaking News or click on Forum and see a more extensive forum recent history.

I hate ungrateful people who complain about this site despite how much it gives.
I hate people who demand but do not contribute.
I hate people who ask questions that are easily answered by reading.
I hate people who hide behind smurfs to insult others when other people back up what they say with their reputation.
I hate people who think this should be a professional website with journalistic writing that doesnt offend anyone, when in reality it is a fan website run by vollunteers.

If you change hate for dislike, since hate is a little too strong a word for me, I agree 100% Add to it people that use three accounts to argue with you, and agree with each other (when its just one tard) or smurf tard that brings in all his other tards to help him out.

why do you stress being humble so much? this is maybe the second or third time i've seen you said this.
here's my take on it - humility for the sake of humility is really fucking pretentious, and don't get me wrong, i'm not saying it's something you show. from what i've seen, i think you're a good guy, but it's a pet peeve of mine in real life when people brush off achievements or praise with things like 'no, i suck' when they clearly think they're the shit, or when there are others around that are far worse off than they are.
i'd much rather everyone be realistic about their own abilities without being too cocky. hell, i'd much rather have arrogant people who really can back up their shit than tons of simpering assholes that don't know how to take a compliment. there are too many christian asians (using this as an example because i used to be close friends with a lot of them years ago, before they joined the religious crowd and changed; also because i know you're in this group [not necessarily in a bad way]) at my school who have these dual backgrounds, both of which stress being reserved but in the end only make their people fake and disgusting.
what really sickens me is when people completely demean themselves before 'God' (i use this loosely, and the apostrophes are not meant to offend), and trivialize themselves until nothing really rests on them anymore. where is the individuality, confidence, and pride in being human? is it impossible to worship and be faithful to your lord while knowing and acknowledging honestly where you stand in the world?
just look at your last sentence. you were graciously accepted? no! you proved your merit through excellent posts and effort, and it was clear that tlnet would greatly benefit and be honored to have your help and contributions. the way you insist on phrasing it seems like it was a miracle that through hard work, you rose in the world (or at least e-world).
ugh flew off topic and just kept on going. summary: i agree with you that a little modesty is important, even refreshing, but i can't understand why it's repeatedly one of your top values. again, this post isn't a flame =) just curious

Acting modest is something that everyone should learn to do without having to 'act.' We are all on the same level here... We are all human beings... I don't see why everyone and their beliefs/moral what have you can't be takin into consideration. Kinda like putting yourself in their position. That picture is no doubt the main reason that made Kevin kill himself. You may need to read more about that. Anyway whatever it was, the picture itself is a shame for humankind and I could not see any slightest reason why it could be funny to some TLers. That one thing I dislike about TL, sometimes some people here are just so cruel, or well, don't know where is the limit. (from my personal opinion)

he realized what the picture really meant? are u serious? im sure he took the picutre because of what it really meant. depression came from public's gross lack of sympathy/value of his life's work. it takes a person of true dedication (a complete fucking pervert also works, but a pervert wouldnt give two shits about the public) to see and photograph those things while living among them, and when the whole world turns on u because of it, it makes your life pretty much worthless to you

I'm not going to debate this with you anymore, as you're just making very unwarranted assumptions. I've been reading about Carter since I was 15. It's clear he was very conflicted about his life's work, and the public's interpretation of what he'd done.
This picture haunted him his whole life, and it's fucking insulting you'd reduce it to a "they don't get me" type of situation with no apparent frame of reference on the subject.
his whole life? u mean the whole 17 months between him taking that picture and commiting suicide? dude just admit you either phrased your post wrong and there is deeper causes of his suicide than a photograph or that ure a complete fucking moron who pulls shit out of his ass.

these kind of arguements always remind me of a Daria episode where one of the characters says "whats the point of a senseless tragedy if you cant find a little humor in it". it's been pretty much the way ive looked at everything since.
I have never heard a funny rape joke. I have never heard a funny brutal & vulgar joke. I have never heard a funny Andrew Dice Clay joke. Yet I have openly laughed at a few dead baby jokes and said, "that's awful" afterwards. Go figure.
People using "..." at the end of each sentence to look smarter, when they're saying something just plain boring and predictable.
People repeating what others have said a billion times in the same thread.
New and completely clueless posters that think what they're saying is revolutionary when all they're really doing is repeating a random post someone else made or getting on a bandwagon.
Generalising based on ONE example.
People assuming they have the experience or mental capacity to make a valid post about game balance. Few people are qualified to do that, you are not. Get over it and stop posting about balance.
Using "IMO" where it is not needed. Either denotes how much of a coward the poster is, being afraid to stand up for what they think or shows that they can't have a strong enough opinion on anything.
Native English speakers that can't spell properly or have bad grammar.
People that make long-ass posts that could have easily been summarised in 2 paragraphs.
Writing [Red]NaDa instead of Nada, [Oops]Reach instead of Reach or 'SlayerS'_BoxeR instead of Boxer and then not communicate anything in the post.
Those saying "someone should test it" when referring to a random "balance fixing" idea. (Hey, let's make probes cost 45 mins and mutas hatch 4 seconds later. Would fix everything IMO, but someone should test it).
Giving advice in the strategy forum when you don't know what you're talking about and are only comparing whatever you're looking at to what pros are doing.
Random players describing what they do in a game situation ("well, I like to use speed zeal and storm vs mass hydras"), leaving the impression it's them and only them that are doing it, or that it's their style, when, yet again, it's only a poor copy of progamers' style.
Ignorant teenagers assuming they know more about a country from what a "teacher said" than someone living in that country.
Edit: Having an uncontrollable urge to edit my posts even though I read them thoroughly before posting, just so that I don't have to edit them right after.

This doesn't really make a whole lot of sense. Senseless tragedy has no point (at least to the people who find it tragic), and that is largely what makes it so tragic.
People who 'play for fun'. For example when someone is trying to get/is offered help in strategy section and after good advices the guy just says something like: "YAYA I know iam not supposed to do that and that but I play for fun LOLZ!" People who use the I play for fun line in b.net after losing a game piss me off too.

When was the last time anyone of the idiots who got soooooooooo ofended by the picture did shit to help famine in africa, how much of their income.
I guess it probably makes them feel good you know, to act repulsed by a silly joke, they might fool themselves and think they actually have empathy, maybe that makes them feel like better persons than they really are.

because making fun of something like that is a clear cop-out. not only are you appealing to the lowest common denominator, you're exploiting a "shock factor", appealing to not the humor in your audience, but the morbid fascination.

Now I've graciously been accepted as a scribe boy to keep some history.
why do you stress being humble so much? this is maybe the second or third time i've seen you said this.
here's my take on it - humility for the sake of humility is really fucking pretentious, and don't get me wrong, i'm not saying it's something you show. from what i've seen, i think you're a good guy, but it's a pet peeve of mine in real life when people brush off achievements or praise with things like 'no, i suck' when they clearly think they're the shit, or when there are others around that are far worse off than they are.
i'd much rather everyone be realistic about their own abilities without being too cocky. hell, i'd much rather have arrogant people who really can back up their shit than tons of simpering assholes that don't know how to take a compliment. there are too many christian asians (using this as an example because i used to be close friends with a lot of them years ago, before they joined the religious crowd and changed; also because i know you're in this group [not necessarily in a bad way]) at my school who have these dual backgrounds, both of which stress being reserved but in the end only make their people fake and disgusting.
what really sickens me is when people completely demean themselves before 'God' (i use this loosely, and the apostrophes are not meant to offend), and trivialize themselves until nothing really rests on them anymore. where is the individuality, confidence, and pride in being human? is it impossible to worship and be faithful to your lord while knowing and acknowledging honestly where you stand in the world?
just look at your last sentence. you were graciously accepted? no! you proved your merit through excellent posts and effort, and it was clear that tlnet would greatly benefit and be honored to have your help and contributions. the way you insist on phrasing it seems like it was a miracle that through hard work, you rose in the world (or at least e-world).
ugh flew off topic and just kept on going. summary: i agree with you that a little modesty is important, even refreshing, but i can't understand why it's repeatedly one of your top values. again, this post isn't a flame =) just curious
Uhh... thanks? Hahahahaha. I see what you are saying and respect your opinion. But being Christian has nothing to do with me valuing humility. I have always admired those who displayed great humility Christian or not.
As for being humble for the sake of saying LOOK I AM SO HUMBLE, I think that's just messed up and I hadn't thought about that until you mentioned it.

His argument was that it's a low brow attempt at humour. It is, and that's not really to be argued imo. There are plenty of reasons it is wrong though.
My argument was there are some jokes that also touch on peoples nerves. Paying them proper respect. We don't need to become a world of sissies being 100% politically correct and avoiding discussions or talks from fear of hurting people. But neither do we need to be completely insensitive and distant to the very real world around us.
Now conform you emo/goth/non-conformist mother fucker.

Making fun of death in a highly publicized event that may eventually get back to his family. He has children. That's not cool.
Make fun of death, sure. Death smiles on us all, the only thing you can do is smile back. Yeah yeah. But going for a cheap shot for publicity/to make your point when you can do it in a far better way?

continue to rationalize how a child brutally starving to death is funny because it's 1/2 way around the world and not in your neighborhood.
Why do we laugh about a guy falling off his bike into a puddle of mud?
Why do we laugh at some gardener who is cutting a branch and knocks his teeth off ? (rofl !)
Its human nature, a long time ago i read a quote about it but i cant remember who wrote but it something like "why do you we find joy in other's grief?, probably because laughter makes the pain go away".
almost anything jokes about something brutal, racism jokes, about nazism and jews extermination, about arab women and so on, so who draws the line of whats distasteful or not, always someone will get offended by a joke, jews, polish, victim's relatives etc etc etc.

im not talking about that particular case since it was a media stunt, but i bet if you went to your local school halloween dressed like that there would be a lot of pissed retards.
I mean I agree that tact is something alot of people could use.. but tact is about compromising, it's about respect for the people around you.
This has nothing to do with whether or not the picture is/was funny. The picture was funny to me. I can explain the humor in it if you want.
When people take an idea, a concept, and make it personal.. that is their shortcoming. When someone posts a joke and people are unable to see the humor, that is also their shortcoming.

The picture is incredibly depressing and tragic. The child's position is unfair, unjust, and almost disturbing.
The heading of "pwned" is therefore ridiculous.. it's entirely unnecessary(which in itself can be funny). It makes me compare the starving child/vulture scenario to various other scenarios in which someone could get "pwned". This is also funny.
I think the type of humor in it could be compared to a cartoon of a scrawny guy fighting mike tyson in a boxing ring... except also, the scrawny guy doesn't have any arms. haha just thinking about that is funny, actually

Why don't you explain in precise detail exactly what is funny about that picture.
Here it is again if you need some reference.
Please use your superior brain to explain to a moron like me what the humor is in this situation and subsequent photograph.
its the same as the little girl being punched and the same example Travis said... an armless skinny crippled guy boxing with tyson lol.
Its the same as a buy falling off his bike and smacking his face on the ground...
If someone tells you the story, the guy broke all his frontal teeth spending a shit load of money repairing his teeth and his broken nose plus for the rest of his life he will have trouble because of that stupid mistake.
yet you see a guy trying to make a stupid trick on a bike and landing on his face... its funny.
You are not laughing about a child about to die, you dont laugh about the suffering of a guy when he knocks his teeth out.

Hear hear... But man iono admins are only humans they love their ass being licked too. It's understandible so don't be too righteously harsh on them.
What's with all this emphasis on acting proper and tactful? What's so important about it? Many of us take it for granted that people should act tactful and get emotional when someone doesn't. For instance, when someone writes a mildly confusing sentence with some misspellings and grammar errors, but you still understand the message - you then write something like "learn proper english". WTF? The point of language is to communicate ideas. And you're actually irritated by those who don't rigidly follow the language? What does it matter?
Humor should have no boundaries. There are so many morbid jokes out there that many people find hilarious but you want to make exceptions for this and this case, like they are something special (compared to the other jokes).
I didn't see the vulture/child picture with PWNED written on it, but Baal posted an example of a picture that wouldn't be funny without PWNED written (a grown man punching a young innocent girl). So the word PWNED does add another level to the humor. It's a mix of the nerdy PWNED humor and dark humor. This reminds of the "not" joke - just by adding the word "not" something can become funny.
Listen to comedians like Jim Norton and Lisa Limpanelli to gain a better understanding of dark humor. Or watch the documentary The Aristocrats, about the famous aristocrats joke and various comedians perspectives on it.

I would say it's because joking about sensitive matters makes other people uncomfortable or unhappy. They feel empathy (and sympathy) for the objects of whomever's ridicule, and so they find the jokes to be offensive. Or maybe they're directly offended (that's why people don't like racist jokes). I would say that if you do find such things funny, just keep it to yourself.
1. People who reply to a thread without actually making an attempt at reading the majority of the discussion. We all do it from time to time, but some people read the first post, disregard the next 5 pages, and make some lame reply simply because they like seeing themselves talk. Meanwhile the discussion has complete changed course.
2. This has been established, but the brown-nosers.
3. I don't think this is so much about TL.net, but more a common internet thing - people who post because they just love talking about themselves. Someone will post a thread asking for help with his sick mom and some guy will be like "I have a mom. She is the greatest mom. Look at me, having a mom."

I don't think the point is about that particular picture; it's more about the people who think they have an absolute knowledge about where the line between funny an cruel is. This is no absolute, and you're not necessarily right just because you are more "sympathetic" with human grieve.

A think that annoys me is people that use lol for no apparent reason. Often in the end of sentences that are mostly observational. "haha" works better becouse it can be spoken but lol cant (not counting children that still go aorund saying it) since you would be busy laughting instead of saying it. I have posted about this before and I guess I'm alone in thinking this but still. Using lol in the right context is still funny like when you parody east users ect.

Does this exist?
One of the most mentioned things in this thread is that posters with big post counts are arrogant, etc.
But i have never seen this. Honestly. Is this really that rampant?
If i am going to think i'm better than the rest of tl.net, it will have nothing to do with my post count.
Can anyone point me to an example of this? I have seriously never seen this. The only similiar situation is when a new poster posts something and some asshat says he shouldn't post a new thread until he has >100 posts. wtf? My first 100 posts on this website were better than many of my posts in the 1000 ~ 2000 range. Why would it be different for anyone else? The shit that spews from longtime posters mouth is more annoying than new posters - their excuse is that they're new! What about exalted! What about baal! Where the hell is the ban stick?
A CERTAIN GUY WHO REALLY PISSES ME OFF AND GOES "X17" bullshit on me. Fucking annoying little prick, I hope you die with your hands tied behind your back while forty gay black men with 10 inch dicks penetrate your fucking puny anus and emasculate you right in front of your loved ones and watch your family burned alive by the might of god. ANd then when you finally die, I hope satan sodomizes you with sulfur and foot long acid-tainted razors that causes your flesh to burn x1000 on contact. The only image in your head would be filled with the image of your own burning corpse crying and begging for mercy as damned souls of former gay black rapists go rampant all over you. And for all eterntiy, I wish you nothing but suffering in every sense and more. Every conceivible memory you may try to concur, will be replaced by an even more disgusting and putrid taint of homosexuality.
But, I'll forgive you since I raped you that pvp -_-; (NOT GIVING OUT NAMES +_+)
I don't think that the OP should reply to a flamer of his post with a flame of his or her own. Even if the reason is justifiable, one shouldn't fight fire with fire.
Also, i HATE it when you're about to sneeze...THEN IT DOESNT COME!! God, I swear, it's like being rejected sex...

the reason the quality is better is because people complain about bad stuff. otherwise nothing gets done about the bad stuff, hence the shittyness of the other forums.
People who disagree just for the sake of disagreeing.
Also those who judge your intelligence/maturity by your post count. I absolutely hate that. If someone makes a stupid post why should they be less harshly punished for having a higher post count?

I'll be honest with you...I did not detect the sarcasm o_o. Second time I'm feeling stupid today-
My biggest peeve on any forum is people who are superior in one way (for example, if you're a good starcraft player, or an admin or mod), thinking they're automatically superior in another way (like they think they know more about politics).

APM threads - Srsly how many apm threads does there need to be? I wish I had a tall can for everytime someone asks for advice about how they can learn to spam their hotkeys more.
Girl Problems - Ok let's put aside the fact that asking how to attract girls on a video gaming forum is probably barking up the wrong tree, you're asking for advice from someone who has never met the girl you're asking about.
People who sign at the bottom of their thread - to me this is as bad as putting your E-Mail address in your AIM profile. Or that massive xbox logo that takes up 50% of the controller's real estate. Just stop.

I agree completely with the apm one, but i think the girl threads are funny. another pet peeve of mine is when someone in a girl thread says what you just said: that the person shouldn't ask here cuz everyone at tl.net are nerds and have never had sex and will never have sex and that we sit in front of our computer 24/7. it gets old, and its not funny. its mentioned in just about every girl thread though

Agreed so much about the signing name thing. Every time I see it, it pisses me off.
Strategy forum posts. I see 2 guys in the 60s and 1 guy in the 30s. The titles are all equally retarded. "Fast expo pvp", "PvT noob questions T_T" fucking face is just retarded and "question about vultures/..."
The titles say it all. Fast expo pvp, ROFL who in the world would do that. PvT noob questions (recomended threads probably has pages and pages about that, like bigballs pvt guidelines or countless other threads hint hint). And who could possibly have a question about vultures, if you search you will probably uncover about 50 posts about them, a couple 4 vulture drop ones, and one or two debating the use of patrol or attack to micro them. There is also a thread that I remember which has a video of a guy showing how to kill a group of toss units with mines (its on his little ums map, but still cool).
On the other hand we have a valid question "How to turn Pvt micro-based" which is a valid question which is thought provoking and should cause people to really have a discussion before it gets hijacked and turns into a flame war.
And ofcourse there is an "ATTENTION: PvZ POSTS" where uhjoo deciced to man it up and end the bullshit. Some of us knew we were going to far, some didnt, but he did the right thing and ended them all.
In my opinion a good strategy thread would be something about a matchup specific to a map, where did I go wrong, or how it is so sexy, and with replay(s) attached.
-Oshi ^^
edit: now I go and see that it is a old bumped thread. No disrispect intended for Taiche.
Now theres going to be a post with: people who dont read a threads entirety before flaming about it.
Now as I explore more I see that its vultures/queens in tvz. Well this brings back memories of threads of both in the past, and a game I saw on Longinus with Xellos vs Yellow JR (i think). In it Xellos does 1 proxy factory at the center and sends out a bunch of vultures into Yellow JR's main to kill drones, at the same time he takes his nat. Yellow JR tries to regain the advantage by using Queens, but he doesnt use them like Eriador (this comes from reputation) does.

There is a major lack of indenting on this forum! Nobody ever indents! Even in the news posts and articles, people don't indent! They just put an extra line in-between paragraphs. Indenting is an absolute must for anything of length and I'm surprised it's been ignored for so long.
PS: I'll add an indent before someone makes a joke, but fyi I don't believe my few sentences are worthy of an indentation. I'm talking more about when there are multiple paragraphs.

Nobody indents on the internet.
No, but many of the TL.net pet peeves already posted can be generalized as well. There's no reason to single mine out. Keep trying.
Brood I applaud you and your patience. Baal and Travis don't get it because the picture is impersonal and completely fictious to them. If that shit was something they had seen or had personally happen to them or someone they love they would not find it funny. Sad when people give tribute to "shock humor" past the age of 12.
Moltke's post is gold.
Africanboy/Dragon_lil or w/e and the huge parade of love for supposedly young broken english asian poster(s) in those two. I don't understand it and it annoys me.
People who say "not real" or "fake" to a vid posted. Fucking "O RLY?" Does it matter? If it really does EXPLAIN yourself. Just making a post like that is inadequate and annoying.
Those are about the only things I have any right to say are annoying. I know I can/am annoying to many. I have taken a step back and reevaluated my persona on this site. uNc made me realize that my attitude on this forum often reflects how I feel that day/week/month. Lately with school and such I have been in a prickish mood. I will stop venting here Back to being a semi-funny seudo constructive bw related poster who likes to debate <3
Whenever I press tab it just highlights the Post button. I usually put 3 spaces inbetween paragraphs as an indent but when I post it, the spaces get deleted. Dunno why.
One thing I hate the most is people who rag on people just to earn points among the forum "elite", people who'd adopt an opinion I'm not sure they even had before so they can all pilory someone else to earn points. Examples are people who tell people to use the search function irregardless of the merit of the thread or recently, the vast amounts of people who "suddenly" have a strong opinion about PvZ whining. These posters very often have very exaggerated fury to show the depth of their zeal. j0ehoe, I'm talking to you.

The spaces are still there in your posts after you post them. It's just that HTML browers display only one space character at max if there are many space characters put together. Same with tab character. Webmaster can fix it (by converting all space charaters to sth like " ") but meanwhile you can use charater like _ or . to make spaces (and change their color to white)

No, you don't get it.
The monday after my grandfather(he was also my neighbor, we were close) passed away from cancer I made a joke about him to my close friend. This joke was something Im sure you would find terrible inappropriate, and probably take offense to. Yet my friend and I found it hilarious. I love my grandfather very much. I am not a callous and insensitive person. In fact, I am the opposite.
The film(and character) Borat is based on "shock humor", as you call it. That film seemed to do pretty well. I guess we aren't the only people who enjoy this kind of humor.
I consider my ability to see an object or situation from multiple perspectives a good thing. I don't understand why I shouldn't.
i guess my pet peeve is the closed forum. maybe i just have weird taste, but i find most of those topics a lot more desirable than the ones that are left open. like i said, it must be my taste, but i would probably close a lot of opposite ones lol!

This might seem unrelated and random, but my roomates and I recently threw a festivus party at the end of the semester.
We did everything as closely as we could, we had a pole, two of my roomates wrestled for the feats of strength, and we all roasted each other in the airing of grievences.
When we did the airing of grievences it ended up being the funnest part of the night. We started off joking, and the insults slowly became more and more personal until people were full out yelling at each other.
This thread reminds me of that. Hopefully it keeps going in that direction...for my entertainment of course.
Teroru, stop being mad that I smashed you hard when I still played SC. You must have a pretty sweet life if I am the main cause of your displeasure on TL. Too funny gay man.

yea, i really did that for forum points -_-. maybe its because the multiple threads were beating a dead horse? its fucking annoying, every toss uses it as an excuse
There were plenty of people who able to intelligently articulate their distaste for these topics without the obnoxiousness and retardedness of your posts. You complain about P players beating a dead horse, yet you are the one with the most repetitive complaints, even often in threads that are barely related to PvZ imba discussions. Unlike the intelligent explaining or analyzing which most other forum goers provide to show PvZ is not imba, your posts are restricted to "OMFG whiny P users omg crutch STFU STFU". And you accuse us of beating a dead horse?
Even your post and your sig shows the general lack of maturity and depth in your contributions. You generalize to saying that ALL Protosses whine, and that ALL Protosses use it as an excuse, and ALL Protosses should STFU. Thats a great attitude to take when your position is that Protoss users are overreacting whiners.

yea. it was really awesome looking at several strategy forum posts in one way or another whining about the mu. my 'bitching' as you put it finally got the admins to realize that the crap was polluting our forums. if 'pvz is imbal' isnt a tired and lame arguement, there would be a need for ujoo to post what he did.

actually PvZ imbal or bal is something intelligent to discuss about, if you stop discussing about attitudes and personal insults and just stick to the topic. i think the way you discuss makes you immature, not the topic you discuss about.
itelligent discussion would be figuring out a counter to whatever you percieve as imbal. creating a thread complaining about it does nothing. but it doesnt matter because its now one less shitty topic we get to discuss

Did you have the means to save your grandfather? Did you watch him die, take a picture and walk away? Did your joke include a picture of your grandfather and also include a completely innapropriate comment? I too have joked about physical misfortune. To what Baal is getting at, it could seem that a person falling off a bicycle is similar in humor to that picture. The difference is that that man will get up, embarrassed and move along. He isn't one of millions starving in his own homeland rotting away. You and baal can argue all you want. It is funny to make light of things. I think this is where the word "tact" comes into play. Borat did well. Awesome. You must be completely right than. Since a movie with said themes did well your humor must be just and morally sound. First of all, half your posts are about PvZ imbalance, which would make a gigantic proportion of posts that are "not worthwhile". And as for being selective about when to be mature or contribute something worthwhile, all I can say is that you obviously are universally instead of selectively retarded.
Secondly, I have no problem with Uhjoo's thread or people who complain about PvZ whining in general. After I started the thread about sunkens in PvZ, I regretted it after more PvZ threads started to spawn. I can accept intelligent criticism and debate, which is obviously something you dont' comprehend. In fact, with your faggish and stupid remarks, you are just as guilty as anyone of lowering the tone of discussion whenever PvZ is mentioned. If certain Protoss players are getting whiny and bitchy, it has at least partly to do with overthetop, exaggerated, and unconstructive remarks from people like you. In a topic that is considered overdebated and "beating a dead horse", posts like yours are the most obnoxious, repetitive, and annoying. In criticising a certain behavior, you exemplify its worst qualities.
Lastly, I don't see the comparision between your sig and mine. Mine isn't even my own; its a quote that I included for its humor and hilarity. Back to the topic of pet peeves: - Emotional opportunist: Those who sees that a thread is going one way and decides to add on to the direction of the tide so as to appear to be on the strong side without a personal conviction on the subject matter in the first place. But deep within they know they are just trying to get into somebody's good books, especially when it involves an admin. (Yes it has been somewhat mentioned but this is the title I personally attribute to these people.)
- Polls that are senseless nor interesting nor of any entertainment/informative values.
- People that has to be right all the time: Even when there is clearly nothing to be right about and you probably would never find them apologizing anytime in the forum.
not wanting to be an "emotional opportunist", but aphelion's post was even more insightful than inc's, in some way. i wish i was able to express my thoughts in the english language as precise and eloquate as a native speaker with some brain obviously can >_<

Never said you were "wrong" said the more tactful and appropriate response would be "respect" or "sympathy."
Travis for a seemingly intelligent well rounded guy you sure have some young logic or at least a unrefined moral construct. Earlier you sited "Borat" as justification for shock humor and now you are indicating that because you are thoughtful and nice it is morally sound and ok to find it funny when african children starve to death.
When I saw the picture initially my response was mostly sadness and disgust. But then I saw it was clearly a joke and laughed.
I wasn't citing borat as justification for shock humor. I was citing it to make a point; people do find shock humor funny.
And that is not what I am indicating, though it is close. What I am saying is that because I am thoughtful and nice it is morally sound and ok for me to find a joke funny, even if it involves african children who have starved to death.

(however, if you'd like to play a game, i'd be up for that. From all accounts i've heard on Starcraft, you suck complete ass - and been known to talk shit about me. hilarious.)
You're the most arrogant person on these forums. I just don't like arrogance. I know you're ego is much too large to be deflated, but i think it worthwhile to attempt to at every chance i get.

yea. it was really awesome looking at several strategy forum posts in one way or another whining about the mu. my 'bitching' as you put it finally got the admins to realize that the crap was polluting our forums. if 'pvz is imbal' isnt a tired and lame arguement, there would be a need for ujoo to post what he did.

It offends no one except for people who are so sensitive about their favorite race in a game that they can't let it go. Yours is an overgeneralized and unwarranted personal attack on a third of the posters on this forum. There is no similarity whatsoever.
YES I HAVE 500 POSTS ON PVZ IMBAL. sorry, i stopped reading after that idiotic statement. =[
Aphelion isn't far off. You try to define yourself on these forums as the Official Anti-PvZ Imbalance Whiner Representative (your profile, sig, every single one of your posts, etc.), yet no one cares. Every time anyone tries to discuss any aspect of PvZ, I can count on you to jump in uninvited, trotting out the same old arguments on how the matchup is perfectly balanced, as everyone skips over your post.
What I find most hilarious about you is not the way you strut around despite being here only for 3 months; or how you whine more than anyone else on PvZ; your lack of contribution to anything except PvZ; or how you have a thousand posts yet remain firmly planted in Drone status; or how you like to repeatedly characterize ALL P users as of a certain mentality, and ALL Z users as a (presumably) superior mentality.
It's really how no one really gives a shit anymore when you open your mouth. You contribute nothing to these forums except your bitching. You simply can't constructively post even on PvZ. You lack Testie's skill to ground your posts in; you lack other members' experience and respect on the forums; you even lack basic grasp of the English language and/or intelligent eloquence in rhetoric to make anyone read it.
I mean, look at this:
im here today to talk to you about the worst plague since homework threads to infest the tl.net forums: pvz imbalance threads.
this claim has become the answer to a protoss user's inability to win pvz. its not their skill, its the imbalance. their personal crutch. its absolutely *impossible* to win pvz. (sarcasm detectors on) this is depsite a zvp record in osl that is so far 51:47. its so bad that they need to have 5 active threads polluting the strategy section.
im asking for the admins to do the same as they do with the homework threads. get rid of this crap. close the threads and consolodate them into one. i thought the strategy forum was for strategies...not whining?
zvt is a bitch for zergs, but we dont have a ton of threads whinning about it. we adapt. we use all units, unlike toss, who neglect their da's. toss has a higher win % (similar to zvp) in pvt, but terrans arent screaming imbal. wtf?
plz admins, remove the crap thats ruining the strategy forums so we can discuss strats, not mythical imbalances. or at least keep all the crap in one thread.
It's amusing how you simultaneously offering your views on the debate while declaring "i thought the strategy forum was for strategies...not whining?"; how you talk about "worst plague since homework threads" so arrogantly; how you cannot use even the most basic of punctuation, grammar, and spelling; your juvenile psychological generalizations on P users and Z users (ooh, tell me Dr. Freud, does my playing Protoss automatically make me whinier than Zerg players?); etc.
travis nobody denied shock humor as funny? I myself said I enjoy it as well.
I am done debating, you seem to really want to justify a joke, no matter what it is about can be funny despite moral constructs and "tactfullness" which despite mentioning it in your first post on this subject, have chosen to ignore apparently. You would be the first to look at a picture and go, "oh my god, that is disguisting and sad" then go "Oh wait its a joke, HAHA!" Not saying your unique, just saying I have yet to meet many people who go through that emotional evolution post puberty.
Let me make a few final points. Yes I know shock humor is not confined only to you. Yes I know the importance of making light of situations. No, pictures of children crawling for life and dying with a vulture behind it are not funny. Especially when the man who took it was so deeply moved by it he ended his own life. I am sure other factors played in but when he sites specifically that picture in his suicide note I think it is safe to say it was a tremendous factor. No, I don't care to change your opinion on this because I am not so disillusioned to think you or baal are capable of hearing out other people and reflecting on it personally (at least not in this case).

zvt is a bitch for zergs, but we dont have a ton of threads whinning about it. we adapt. we use all units, unlike toss, who neglect their da's. toss has a higher win % (similar to zvp) in pvt, but terrans arent screaming imbal. wtf?
plz admins, remove the crap thats ruining the strategy forums so we can discuss strats, not mythical imbalances. or at least keep all the crap in one thread.
Freud, does my playing Protoss automatically make me whinier than Zerg players?); etc.
god
yawn. ever think that its a forum and i could really care less about spelling/grammar/punctuation? i think ill make a thread just so you and aphellion can just flame me, mmmkay?
Go ahead and make that thread. About time you contributed something useful to TL.
Incidentally, a person that takes care of spelling, grammar, and punctuation so that others can read his post easily is accorded a certain level of well-earned respect. Someone too lazy/inconsiderate to do that is correspondingly thought less of.
Alternatively, in your language:
btw ppl dat spell n use grammer n punctaution rite look smart. ppl dat dun care n r lazy fucks look dum. duh -.-;;
If you think he displays less intelligence because he doesn't use perfect punctuation, that's your perrogative. Don't speak for the rest of tl.net.
His posts, on the whole, are easy enough to read and understand. Many people just don't care about spending time on perfect punctuation and grammar. I care, it's important to me to be as articulate as i can. But i don't go off assuming others are inferior or less intelligent because they don't do the same.
You make it sound like a crime for someone not to go out of their way to make sure they have perfect English. Get off your pedestal.

Yah I'll agree with most of these points. I can connect my views to what is said here.
EDIT: Jeez 18 pages... did not notice it was so big wtf was I in a coma? ((
what i find the most hilarious is that j0ehoe is not even good and tries to tell protoss players to shut up when 73 % of the protosses on this forum could beat him
another pet peeve: threads that go over 6 pages (they always turn into flame wars)

On December 21 2006 06:47 Aphelion02 wrote: There were plenty of people who able to intelligently articulate their distaste for these topics without the obnoxiousness and retardedness of your posts.
Thats a great attitude to take when your position is that Protoss users are overreacting whiners.
yea. it was really awesome looking at several strategy forum posts in one way or another whining about the mu. my 'bitching' as you put it finally got the admins to realize that the crap was polluting our forums. if 'pvz is imbal' isnt a tired and lame arguement, there would be a need for ujoo to post what he did.
and id just like to know, do you consider your sig to somehow be mature? yes, lets start using sigs and my general disdain for people who whine about mus as the barometer for my maturity. posts where there is smething acutally intelligent to discuss—not pvz imbal threads—i post something worthwhile.

GI was saying that proper punctuation and grammar usually make people think more highly of you. Whether proper punctuation is truly indicative of intelligence or not, that is true that people generally make such an assocation.
In j0ehoe's case, that is a moot point, as the bad form of his expression matches the crassness of the content. Its not so much us putting ourselves on a pedestal as him digging a hole for himself.
as to all those people complaining about unproper grammar/spelling/punctuation: i hope that refers only to native speakers, i try my very best but at times i fail horribly xD
and j0ehoe: i tried, really hard, not to judge you by what others told about you, but by that time, and remember i've only been active for 3 days now, you already pissed me off beyond the point of no return. i was banned from a local forum here because of the exact attitude you seem to have here, should consider that before posting crap again. if people tell you the only contributing thing you could do at this point would be opening a "j0ehoe-flame-thread" then thats no good news.
