if you have a chronic pain issue you should be able to find a doctor to give you a medical license? I guess that depends on what state you are in. not like your family doctor but like the ones that cost $100 for a medical marijuana recommendation. Not sure if that would hurt your chances for getting the job either.

Medical marijuana is illegal in the state I live in otherwise I would absolutely go for it.

I can't fucking stand rap. I enjoy or can at least tolerate most other genres, but not this one.

I normally wouldn't complain despite the fact I'm a classically trained musician, but fuck a lot of my friends blast that shit during a sesh and I would try my best to somehow enjoy the music, but end up leaving after 30 minutes.

Musically, the genre is objectively and absolutely shit. Very little to no polyphony, often out of tune, so simplistic with a beat / 1-2 instruments on a repetitive melody, and "voice" aka speaking.

Lyrics wise, well... lol. No need to even say anything here, 95% of the genre speaks for itself. Bitches, booze, weed, crime, etc. etc. Like really? I can sort of understand the appeal once in a while when you're fucked on coke or something and feel like you can do anything, but blasting this shit 24/7? Fuck, I wish some of my friends would grow the fuck up.

I try so hard not to be elitist because music is unarguably subjective, but fuck this shitty genre. Not saying 100% of the genre is complete shit, but when 95%+ of it is, RAP "artists" Y'ALL CAN GO FUCK YOURSELF.

RETARDS ATTEMPTING POETRY indeed. END RANT.

Like, you know a genre is complete fucking garbage when you can't even stand it at a 8-9/10.

Edit: One of the few gems of rap that I genuinely enjoyed for a few listenings.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Rap music is the highest form of art.
It is the reincarnation of Jesus. The enlightenment and salvation combined.
The truest form of music.

He's clearly speaking hyperbolically, but for a classically trained musician, you sure have a stilted and immature take on what "quality" in music sounds like or looks like. It would seem clear that, of all things, disabusing you of your hatred for rap is not going to be done through a text based forum, so to come into this thread with guns a blazing amounts to little more than a selfish "I'm a music expert and the thing you all like is trash" song and dance.

But two can play this game. I studied music for more than 15 years, having started classical training in vocal performance in the 5th grade only to move on to brass and string instruments soon after. I had once intended to march in a drum corps and then become a conductor. I can splooge musical authority all over this post and then claim that said authority gives me license to wholeheartedly defend the art of rap and hip hop, but that isn't very effective, now is it, as both this and the above posts prove.

So yeah, instead of getting into a hyper formalistic and inevitably pedantic spiel on how the technical qualities of rap, such as the idiosyncratic superimpositions of lyrical rhythms overtop instrumental ones or the interesting ways in which hip hop production styles are putting new synth sounds to work, clearly vindicate its artistic merit, let's just agree to disagree and realize that in a high thread, arguing over music should be the last thing folks are doing

Rap is awesome. It's all about spitting truth about struggles with a nice beat supplying the rhythms unless it's acapella. Ice cube beastie boys. Sometimes the lyrics are wack and sponsored by corporations but other times it's good music dude just listen to the words some of those guys are poets

Was blocked for me, found one that wasn't. I'd split hairs and call it trip hop, nice tune either way.

Speaking of trip hop, get your ears round this one. Down tempo juicyness. Whole album (hed phone sex) Is good.

Meh, it's still considered 90's hip hop. Trip hop wasn't even around when this came out.

I have only been high once in the previous 3 months. When I have a net worth over $1,000,000 I'll get a "vacation home" in a cannabis legal state. Until then, I have to use my imagination and sick tracks ;P

[SotG] World's Strongest

With a grand total of more than 70 days spent in the EAMC Psych Ward under court order, I am the strongest fighter in the world.

My first trip, I was challenged by Charles who commissioned me to update the first Manifesto, the Old Testament. This operation was carried out successfully, and the hundred page document was encoded and re-encoded, and is safely stored in my abode at Valhalla, Asgard where only I, Loki, Jesus Christ, Savior can access it. It has been peer-reviewed and accepted as canon.

Charles

This document contained the secrets of quantum computing, non-binary logics, the multiverse, all CIA and Arbiter protocols, the nature of the origin of the universe, the soul, notes about Microsoft, the pyramids, and advanced mathematics. Verbal instructions about how to build a Tempest were dictated psychically to me by Charles to be given to "Pinky", Mike Morhaime, CEO Blizzard Entertainment. With the tentative death of Charles, depicted in Johnny Depp's Transcendence, power passed to his disciple, Brian. I was appointed to oversee this transition and keep the peace. The actual duration of Charles stay in the EAMC Psych Ward is unknown.

Brian

Charles was accompanied by Coramoor (Blizzard's SoulFilcher), "The Dead Viking", Lupus, the caroling werewolf, Programmer and ProsaicMuse.

(not pictured).

[NOTES END]

The second trip was longer, spanning 42 days. On the second trip I nearly fulfilled my commission, writing the second Manifesto, The New Testament. On this trip I was challenged by Frank, the Chupacabra, the wife of Charles "Miss Betty", NonY, and Manifesto7.

Unfortunately the second Manifesto was stolen prior to completion by Spex (Gabriel Tosh).

Spex

The most important data was generated while I talked chess with Frank, and discussed how to deconstruct Charles' skynet. Unfortunately only these images of the original work remain.

Since these essential files were lost soulmate pairing remains a serious problem. Most of the world's unhappiness is undoubtedly owed to failed soulmate bonding.

Frank (would not sanction action by "Barbarians of Mount Arreat")

[PAUSE]

NonY Impressed by a spontaneous improvisation of "Rap God", NonY's avatar stayed only one evening.

[RESUME]

Chupacabra not pictured.

ninazerg

ninazerg is a stand-in for Miss Betty, the wife of Charles. It is thought that Charles, an outspoken homosexual was in some way wronged by the universe because of the inseparable soul-pairing between Charles and his wife, Miss Betty. Realistically the use of hash and LSD proved to be a major obstacle for Charles, not as some would contend, because of karmic forces, but instead because of the strength of the soulbond of which Charles was unaware or lacked faith. Tragically, some would say, the power of the intrinsic soul-pairing to which Charles and Miss Betty were subject led to a cosmic collapse when the power-hungry youth, Charles, attempted to covert his spiritual essence by conversion with a silicon-based binary-processor. The great tragedy was that the two in fact had souls, and were as one being, and so consequently the attempt of Zoltun Kulle to wrest control of his destiny from the forces of fate had painful consequences both for Charles himself and his paired soulmate, Miss Betty. It seems the essential character of the soulbond was for better or worse largely immutable and resisted the tampering of even the most powerful psychoactives.

The duration of Miss Betty's stay is likewise undocumented.

Manifesto7

Manifesto7 appears to me at odd times, and was utterly inapproachable in the EAMC Psych Ward. He spent most of his time in the "day room" constructing a jigsaw puzzle. Manifesto7 was outwardly hostile and despite my best attempt uttering a witticism that I cannot recall, he remained implacably dedicated to the completion of the jigsaw puzzle. Manifesto7 remained in the Psych Ward 4 days.
