Your friend is a perfect example of the failed system which has over the years caused SO MUCH MORE HARM than all the drugs (ESPECIALLY WEED) it's trying to come hard on combined. Exactly. Weed is not bad. Your friend didn't get fucked by weed, he got fucked by the people who decided that weed (completely harmless) should be illegal (for some reason I can't seem to comprehend. . . gateway drug?). I know I probably sound like a tinfoil hat conspiracy theory wierdo screaming 'FUCK THE SYSTEM!!!' but in this case I think that the system really got it wrong | ||

Criminalizing someone taking a "drug" that by statistic kills 30000 people a year and that's not even because you can OD on it or something but because it is linked to smoking so basically you don't die from marihuana but from the bad habit of smoking tobacco that you picked up along the way. Alcohol is legal and kills 100000 people per year as a direct result of consumption. | ||

But Amsterdam again this fall, yay! :D Last summer was so much fun, me and my g/f booked it like months in advance and those 5 days turned out to coincide with their celebration of the 2nd place in the World Football Championsip. The most epic trip, and 5 days, of my life, even though I don't like football and we mostly stayed away from all the fuzz :3 I'd recommend to any smoker (or any open-minded person in general) to visit Amsterdam in their lifetime if at all possible. The best part isn't all the weed (well, OK, it is), but also the fact that everyone is so amazingly tolerant there. You will never get harassed (unless you ask for it ofc, but that's everywhere) for being a tourist, a muslim, gay, black, white, purple, Christian, Hare Krishna or Scientologist as long as you're respectful of everyone else. Such a nice society and an INCREDIBLY nice mentality change from the Balkan shithole I'm used to live in. And it functions perfectly. I'm sorry for the blog-ish post but it's a high thread after all  | ||

The rules mostly are about that proximity that a coffeeshop should be from schools, and about banning people who are under the legal age of eightteen from the establishments. It would be reasonal to assume that Amsterdam will be a safehaven for cannabis culture for many years to come. | ||
