So? It doesn't mean that the law isn't pointless and hypocritical. Would you ban any of the drugs I listed? Because every single one of them is more addictive and dangerous than weed.
Again, this may seem very harsh, but the case of your friend is anecdotal evidence and says nothing about weed itself. If you give aspirin to a person who has blood clotting problems, he could die. If you smoke weed and have a predisposition towards psychic illnesses, you could end up in the looney bin (or worse). All the MORE reason it should be legalized and controlled.
And the comparison of weed to crack is stupid on so many levels I don't even know where to begin explaining it.

They are both illegal. There is the comparison. I may have not made sense but my qualms are not about the effects of drugs. Seriously...? Threads like you mention probably wouldn't be allowed because it's in horrible taste, while using drugs is not seen in such a light by the majority of people. In fact, a number of countries have decriminalized or even straight legalized the usage of pot and some other drugs. On the other hand, talking about committing illegal activities does not immediately make you guilty of committing said activities. Authorities can certainly start to investigate you because of you saying stuff like that, but you can't use any of these posts as confessions.

The fact that your friend wasn't smart enough to smoke weed and stay on track doesn't give you the right to attack drug users. I've been smoking weed since I was 15 and I'm starting university in Math and Physics and I'm loving it. My life isn't perfect but it would no different if I didn't smoke weed. It helps me relax and have fun, so I don't see what's the problem. You shouldn't generalize based on one experience you had in your life.
In fact, you shouldn't judge people no matter, especially on the internet because you have no idea what their life is like man. It's like if I went on a anti-drug forum and said: Hey I know this guy who got a doctorate and smokes weed. WEED MUST BE GOOD. That's how you sound.

I thought that the whole affair with your friend happened was because of a psychoactive reaction or something (although I have to admit it did sound pretty far-fetched).
But anyway, bro, you're directing your frustration at the wrong thing.
Your friend is the exact example of why weed SHOULDN'T BE ILLEGAL IN THE FIRST PLACE. The blame is on the hypocritical laws (which have their roots in racism and economic profit, of course) and the failed war on drugs because of which any government simply can't outright say "look guys we screwed up, weed is actually harmless, we've been spending billions of your tax dollars over the last century basically fucking around".
Your friend is a perfect example of the failed system which has over the years caused SO MUCH MORE HARM than all the drugs (ESPECIALLY WEED) it's trying to come hard on combined.
