Although this thread does not function under the same strict guidelines as the USPMT, it is still a general practice on TL to provide a source with an explanation on why it is relevant and what purpose it adds to the discussion. Failure to do so will result in a mod action.

I don't know what this is all about. Turkey never had democracy. The 'no' outcome from this was never an option, it was never close and votes would always be rigged and there is not much anyone could do about it. "If voting changed anything we wouldn't be allowed to vote"

Only thing i know is things can't really get worse than what it was in 1980 when people rolled my grandpas car to take cover from drivebys so thats always good.

OCSE not happy with the referendum.

In general, the referendum did not live up to Council of Europe standards. The legal framework was inadequate for the holding of a genuinely democratic process

We observed the misuse of state resources, as well as the obstruction of 'no' campaign events. The campaign rhetoric was tarnished by some senior officials equating 'no' supporters with terrorist sympathizers

Usual leftist stuff against Le Pen. At the Zenith, these animals threw MOLOTOVS at Gollard.

It's not only "leftists" who object Le Pen but everyone with an atom of decency, from the far left to the right.

Who is Gollard and what are you talking about by the way? Are you talking about Sputnik, Russia Today and fdesouche (our Breitbart with a but less of intellectual integrity) claiming that Gilbert Collard was thrown cocktail Molotovs without any proof, any police official backing their claim? Cause they are the only three medias that relayed the "information".

Before treating people of "animals", check your fucking sources.

The news is reported on every italian newspaper and press agency. I misspelled the name, sorry for that.

For the rest, you are right - they're terrorist animals.

So what's the deal with May wanting to vote in June already? Does she think she can get more power based on the assumption that every Brexiteer has to vote for her, or what is her plan behind this?

Conservatives are polling very well with Corbyn being such a weak candidate. They're the only serious party at the moment. She probably just wants to increase her majority to decrease the risk of rebel conservatives voting against her. There's a UK thread though so it's better to ask your question there.

At current polling levels she wipes out the opposition and gets +100 seats.

Take a look in the british politics thread:

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/general/419575-uk-politics-mega-thread?page=315

Apparently she is expected to win a lot of seats for her party this way because the opposition is splintered and the UK has a shitty FPTP system.

Enough?

There is virtually no left wing terrorism in France, so calm down. We haven't had a left terrorist attack of any significance for decades.

It does look like an antifa idiot did throw a Molotov even though I wait for the police to confirm and they haven't. Didn't make any damage.

Now if you want to insult half the country based on fantasies, feel free. Antifas are not the left, and they are not even terrorists.

A few years ago a far right idiot called Maxime Brunerie "tried" to assassinate Chirac with a hunting rifle, a much more serious case. I guess that makes all FN sympathizers terrorist animals, right? In fact even judges decided he was just a moron and not big of a threat and gave him a very light sentence.

Fact is, there is virtually no far right terrorism in France either, and just like this Molotov, it was one of those rare, isolated cases.

So tone the fuck down.

Seems that the old trick of calling your opponents terrorists still does wonders. Erdogan employed it during his whole recent campaign. Just wait for an idiot to break the front window of a shop and TADAAAA, everyone who disagrees with you is an ennemy of the state (and an animal).

Calling militant activists from both ends animals is kind of understandable. Is there a word in English that describes a radically leftist person? I hate it when someone talks about the leftists and I can't tell if he's talking about everyone with left wing views or just about antifa and violent blm supporters.

A question for French people (although other people can comment on how their media reported on that), related to fake news.

Last year there was a major anti-PiS protest in Poland (Warsaw), allegedly attended by over 240k people (as claimed by deputy mayor of Warsaw). This later on turned out to be a blatant lie. According to the police, the demonstration numbered roughly 45k (as reported by TVN, a mainstream TV network sympathizing with the opposition); according to TVP (public TV network, favoring PiS) roughly the same number of people attended the march. Gazeta.pl (news website associated with Gazeta Wyborcza, one of the most popular dailies in Poland, siding with PO, Nowoczesna and KOD) counted the people attending almost one by one and arrived at a number in the 55-65k range.

+ Show Spoiler +
My own estimates, based on the footage provided by Gazeta.pl are between 45k and 65k. You can watch the video (with a time stamp) yourself:

http://pikio.pl/najlepsze-nagranie-video/

I know that mainstream media in France usually reported the 240k number:

http://www.france24.com/fr/20160507-pologne-manifestation-record-varsovie-preserver-place-europe
http://www.liberation.fr/planete/2016/05/07/a-varsovie-une-manifestation-record-contre-le-gouvernement-polonais_1451144
http://www.lemonde.fr/europe/article/2016/05/07/en-pologne-manifestation-monstre-en-faveur-de-l-europe_4915408_3214.html

Did they ever bother to rectify this false information?

No, ist not. Its dehumanising, thats basically what Hitler did before starting the Holocaust. Its basically how the rulebook for "how to start a genocide/cleansing" starts.

I doubt SoSexy wants or meant that but seeing/generalising your opposition into (worthless) animals is a really bad sign.

80 years ago it took a fire in the Reichstag for the fascists to come to power, nowadays people are so poor they'll settle for a molotov.

Some folks think that referring to other humans as vermin is not a problem. Given the fact that this tactic of dehumanization has been utilized by some of the worst people in history, I think that attitude needs revisiting.

I think the problem is this fundamental perception that the FN and others are not 'really' fascists, that this time it's really different. I mean, for fuck's sake, you think Hitler was campaigning on a platform of gassing all the Jews in 1930? No, obviously not, he was using his chosen scapegoat as a means to portray himself as a lone savior for Germany's social woes.
