Although this thread does not function under the same strict guidelines as the USPMT, it is still a general practice on TL to provide a source with an explanation on why it is relevant and what purpose it adds to the discussion. Failure to do so will result in a mod action.

250kg, 500kg even 1tone bomb yeah. Or artillery ordnance. But this is 5,5tone bomb it is not normal by any standard. Thats why we can say when exactly was it droped and what was the target.

ANKARA (Reuters) - Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday it was unacceptable for nuclear-armed states to forbid Ankara from obtaining its own nuclear weapons, but did not say whether Turkey had plans to obtain them.

“Some countries have missiles with nuclear warheads, not one or two. But (they tell us) we can’t have them. This, I cannot accept,” he told his ruling AK Party members in the eastern city of Sivas.

Well, that is a signature move of the worst dictators imo. I wonder if some of them understands how expensive and dangerous this could be, and what the consequences are.

On the other hand Australia is far away from dictators. You guys are lucky living on a remote island at this point :D

A nuke is the only way to ensure no direct foreign intervention will happen. Which is why all the dictators that fear being removed want one.
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

It's also a status symbol. Showing the world you have nuclear weapons is like showing the world your nation is strong, which is what dictators relying on nationalist sentiments like to do. I doubt Erdogan is afraid of a direct foreign intervention, Turkey is not North Korea or Iran.

Austrian parliamental election result:

The 5 parties making it into parliament and their leader:
ÖVP - conservatives, Sebastian Kurz
SPÖ - social-democrats, Joy Pamela Rendi-Wagner
FPÖ - nationalists, Norbert Hofer
GRÜNE - greens, Werner Kogler
NEOS - liberals, Beate Meinl-Reisinger

FPÖ lost a little more than expected, ÖVP/Greens slightly overperformed, but pretty much the expected results.

I don't care what he wanted, the polls said 32.2-35.8% and 30.9-37.1 in the last 2 weeks. It seems to be 37.1%.

I'm honestly surprised FPÖ managed to get that many votes after that Russian scandal.

That's the power of creating your own alternative media, and just calling everything that disagrees with you "Lügenpresse", "Lying news" (A nice term from Nazi times, btw). If you get people into that bubble, it is really hard for them to leave again. Which is why authoritarians like doing that so much.

They polled even higher (20%) but were hit with another scandal about their former chairman Strache last week.
In general the Ibiza scandal was hardly a motive in this election according to polling. ÖVP gained some voters from the FPÖ, Greens from the SPÖ. Greens/SPÖ are very dissatisfied with the last Kurz government, ÖVP/FPÖ are very satisfied.
The ÖVP-FPÖ coalition lost 4% of voters in total, mostly people who used to vote FPÖ but didn't vote at all this time.

I was able to see these "alternative media" show/topics on one of German channel stating about genocide of russian speaking people in eastern Ukraine. Which isn't even close to reality O.o I also member Sarah Wagengkhen (or something like that) spreading the same bshit.

We're living in a weird period where people gonna claim anything just to gain a personal profit (influence, financial etc).

That is a common problem, the same goes with media in the US, Russia, here in Ukraine to some degree. Opinion manipulation is a very dangerous threat...

Makes me glad that people still watch and read the BBC for news in the UK. Though sometimes the impartiality rules seem a bit stringent at times, which lend legitmacy to circumstances that shouldn't have any legitimacy. More recently a complaint was upheld for a journalist implying that Trump said something racist. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-49825570

To be fair there's a mild storm brewing because of this incident, against the complaints body of the BBC.
Rightly so if the guardians reporting about the original content of the complaint is even close to correct.

BBC Nature related channels are incredible, only thanks to Sir David Attenborough, if the rest of BBC channels are half as good as Nature one...that would be great for all viewers

You can just look at what happened to Greek bond yield.

Rest edited out cause the implications are terrifying and I like to keep my fear to myself.

Seeing as it was the Banks that got saved by the bailouts for Greece in the first place, i don't see what exactly the issue is?

Holding the debt of another country at negative returns is not the same thing as bailing someone out on credit and then paying the bail.

Guess you are lucky that PiS has its own majority.
