looking at those logs and the fact that the convictions are carried out in conjunction with police who catch the criminal as they are in or leaving the "fake" minor's house, i'd say its pretty clear that these people at least had the intent. these people have chatted in chatrooms specifically with minors, understood that they are minors (look at the chat logs), set up meeting places, and actually showed up at those places. how can you say that that is not intent (which is what these people are getting convicted of, thats why some of them are getting fines and < 1 year jailtime rather than the full molestation penalties). a lot of them get convicted with child porn charges too. i don't see how its any more likely that they "wrongfully convict" an innocent as any other criminal investigation. I remember in HS, I despised those who had sex with older people. Like the ones who got with college students. Besides thinking it was very uncool, I thought it'd be nice if no one older touched my generation, my generation would have no STDs, and I'd never have to worry about herpes (since I'm only interested in ~my generation). | ||

PJ claims that their agents just go into a chatroom and wait for the predators to message them. We have an official "rules of engagement" that we instruct to a contributor when they're brought aboard to help out with the site. One of those rules is that unless asked to in the chat, always let the male PM you. That way they can't cry that the "kid" messaged them in IM first, they have to take the first step. Typically, and I stress typically one of our operatives will be chatting on the main screen, or announce their presence (A/S/L) in the rooms . . . sadly, and typically, they almost always receive interest. Often, just entering a chat room is enough to get 3-10 instant messages at once without having to say anything. We are philosophically against anyone or any organization that contacts people first as underage personas. There is no reason to do that when online predators are so numerous and motivated to contact what they think is a 10-15 year old male or female first. We want threats and we are happy to wait as long as it takes to find them. if you read the FAQ on the site it gives a lot more details about how they go about it with all the phone, chat etc evidence. | ||

Do you think they are just chillin in those rooms for shits and giggles? People they convict show the intent of engaging in sex with kids. If some dumbass really does't want to have sex but still has those conversations and wants to meet up, I wouldnt see them as innocent. They clearly have some screws loose and is generally a waste to society. I would convict one of those any day to put away 10 pedos who intend to sex kids. | ||

again, a lot of times they are busting these guys for child porn and intent, which are legit charges and confirmed by voice and other methods. they ARE NOT charging or convicting random people who a) do not initiate and b) simply just talk about it, because i can just go into a chat room and set up someone i hate by giving all their info that way. it's basically impossible to be mischarged, they'd have to give their location and phone #, have their ip and phone #s traced and confirmed, talk to the PJ agent on the phone AND say all the sexual stuff. by that time they're good to be convicted on intent anyway. and of course if they have child porn or get caught at a meet its 100% easy guilty. | ||
