Chinese GM Hou Yifan beats Anna Ushenina with Black pieces in 3rd game of Woman's World Championship match. The defending champion picked up the wrong pawn after which she quickly lost the exchange and then, a pawn. Chinese GM smoothly gave up her material advantage for great activity after which White soon had to resign, having played the game only for 24 moves.

Hou Yifan wins her third game with Black against Anna Ushenina and is one step from regaining the title of Woman World Champion! To do so, the Chinese prodigy only has to draw two (or win one) out of four remaining games in a 10-game match.

Top seed Magnus Carlsen has won the Sinquefield Cup played in Saint Louis, USA. Norwegian GM scored 4.5 points out of 6 and is looking strong just before his upcoming World Championship match against Viswanathan Anand.

GM Alexander Ipatov, rated 2601, is leading in World Junior Chess Championship, held in Kocaeli, Turkey. After three rounds, he and three other players have managed to maintain 100% performance.

Wow, really amazing OP. Nicely done!

I think you should replace Silman's book with How to Reassess Your Chess. That's really his most widely regarded work.

Hou Yifan wins fourth game against Anna Ushenina in 40 moves and seals the crown of Woman World Champion after a surprisingly one-sided match. Congratulations to Chinese GM, who regained the title she lost in 2012! And she is only nineteen years old...

Hello everyone. I'm looking to play a few games with someone who's a good bit better than me who would be willing to analyze/talk about games afterwards. If you'd rather not help me analyze, I'm still down for games!

I'm Capuano on chess.com. My 30 min Live Chess rating on chess.com is ~850 elo, so ignore the ~1300 rating for online chess as it's not very accurate at all.

With a rating like 850 you are still in the process of learning the basics, meaning there are countless programs or sites out there that can help you improve.

I suggest the Chessmaster program. You can buy it or pirate it if you don't have the money There are hours of lessons you can do that will really improve your game, that's how I improved as a beginner at least. It starts with very basic lessons and moves up into intermediate and advanced.

If you would still like some personal help, I've PM'ed you my chess.com name, although I won't be on for probably a few days.
I did it for myself.

Borislav Ivanov announces his retirement from chess. This 2324-rated FM was widely considered a cheater, as he has won a good number of games against strong Grandmasters where nearly all of his moves matched the first suggestion of chess prgram Houdini. During the tournament at Blagoevgrad, Ivanov was submitted to a pre-game control along with his opponent. He refused to put down his socks and shoes (which his adversary already did) and was expelled from the tournament. Full story.

GM Fabiano Caruana has won the Paris FIDE Grand Prix with 7/11 score and 2840 performance. The Italian player tied for first with Israeli GM Boris Gelfand, but managed to win a head-to-head game, pulling himself in a lead by the virtue of tiebreak points. Also, thanks to this outcome, Azeri GM Shakhriyar Mamedyarov has already secured a spot in the very next candidate tournament.

Peter Svidler has won the Russian Championship Superfinal, capturing the national title for the 7th time in his career. During the tournament, the GM from St. Petersburg tied for first with Ian Nepomniachtchi, whom he managed to beat in a two-game tiebreaker with blitz time controls.

Valentina Gunina has won the Woman Section of the Superfinal. She only had to make a draw with Alexandra Kosteniuk and did so by giving a perpetual check in a postion where she had winning advantage anyway. This is Gunina's 2nd domestic title, after a success in 2011 Superfinal.

Is the TL group on Chess.com still active? We had a little 9 people in house tournament last year and that was fun (and humbling).

Had a lot of memorable games. Should get back to that. Let's revive that.

Played a game where my opponent copied all my moves yesterday, was pretty annoying but I won eventually even though I made some dumb moves.
Only been playing chess for a month or two and had never seen this happen before, is there an easy way to win vs. copiers?

$1 million open tournament, but entry fee is $1,000-$2,000. I wonder if they'll actually get the minimum amount of players required.

You will normally win as you are always a move ahead and, theoretically, should be more familiar with the implications, strengths and weaknesses of the opening you play.
