To be frank, if i would be running the site with the same ideology TL has, i wouldn't care if you'd stop visiting. My opinion, obviously.

What is wrong with a gaming site expressing their views? They have the right to state their preferences and they are not forcing us to support them. If TL cares, it should be able to express itself.

I wouldn't know because all I know about bastard is that it means bastard. And when you call someone idiot you are discriminating against the mentally ill. nobody seriously uses the word bastard to describe "the offspring of an unwed couple" anymore. and hell, being the offspring of an unwed couple has no negative social connotation for people in western societies. Gay however, is used in two different ways. 1: to describe homosexuals/homosexuality. 2: to describe something as bad and unmanly. The second meaning is a meaning which only arose after the first meaning had been established. Thus, the descriminary nature of using gay in a derogatory manner is absolutely apparent and impossible to contest. I know that many who use gay in this fashion don't mean anything negative with it. If I read forum posts made by myself more than 6 or so years ago, I was absolutely guilty of it myself - although even then I would define myself as strongly and vocally pro-gay. But the negative connotation is still there, and it's apparent to people who actually are homosexual. And the gaming community is one that absolutely needs to be more conscious in this department; youth language is largely defined by gaming culture. (as it is one of the most ubiquitous cultures for western youth. ) Thus, the fact that gamers tend to equate strategies deemed "unmanly" (like cheesing in RTS, camping in FPS games) as "gay", contributes heavily to the fact that "gay" is also the most frequently used insult in schools. This again is especially troublesome, because when it's thrown around randomly in schools, the one social arena where you have the most closet homosexuals, these kids end up feeling like they need to hide their sexual orientation because otherwise they're gonna be hated by all their friends and classmates - why would these friends and classmates otherwise use gay as a generic insult? And then, there are statistics showing that homosexual teenagers are much, much, much more prone to suicide than any other societal group.. In actuality, that shows that through using gay in a derogatory manner online, one contributes to real life suicide. That is the power of words, even if people are not aware of it. Hell, especially because people aren't aware of it.

Wow. I am kind of speechless. Why should TL not show support for people who deserve to be supported? This is not a VOTE DEMOCRATS banner there, but a slightly changed logo to show some support for gay people. ~.~

It is absolutely going to stay pro-gay though, and this is out way of vocalizing this. The reason why gay pride is the first social issue that made us funk up our banner, is that gay pride is the single social issue with the least amount of internal disagreement. Gays not being treated equally, everywhere, isn't really an anachronism, because there's no historical period where this inequality feels "correct", but it is still one of the most important issues of our time and age, and the internet is crucial for the enlightenment of people through the world. TL has been a starcraft site. If the admins want to show their support for a gay agenda then meh, whatever, but extend to me the same privilege to be anti-gay-agenda.

The basis of treating everyone equally to me is to... just treat them equally. The need to go out and tell the world how much you're supporting everyone equally is on a much, much lower level than TL just doing it over all those years. We have enough of people proclaiming their politically correct views posting flags and colors on Facebook and Twitter. Being pro-anything means that you kick the very thing that should be the basis for equality in the balls. Equally. PS: Maybe I'm wrong here, but I never perceived TL to be "pro-gay". For me TL is anti-discriminatory. Anti-stupid. Without paying attention to the color of one's skin or one's sexual orientation - which is what makes this place great.
