Speaking from experience as someone whos backpacked through europe on a low budget, it shouldnt be hard at all to find a job in a place like amsterdam. Everyone that I talked to there spoke very good english, and there are jobs to be had at places like hostels, restaurants, bars and what not, especially if you explain your situation to them. You should be able to get at least a room/food by working at a hostel until you can find a real paying job. In fact, theres a christian hostel I stayed at in the red light district that you could try... l think it was called 'The Shelter'. Besides that, there are a couple very large hostels (couple hundred beds) located in amsterdam that im sure would hire you. Anyways, good luck, hope you get to canada safely.

yo if ur 18 in canada, without diploma, it would be tough for u to find a good job... I'm in Montreal and I actually work part-time and my salary is 9$/h, i don't think itz possible to travel in Europe for longtime with the money i earned.

well, it depends on how long you want to travel in europe. I backpacked through europe for about 3 months, and I only saved up like 2k before hand. If you research and plan ahead of time, you can find deals. For example, I found an airplane ticket from New York to Venice, Italy for $80. I bought a tent and sleeping bag so I can camp at random places to save money. I worked at hostels I stayed at to save money. Buy your food at supermarkets and bakerys to save money. You might have to save up for a couple months, but I personally think thats well worth the time and effort if you're serious about backpacking through europe.

hey im up..
since its off season and in europe , there are no hostal job. and the bar/resturant jobs are limited. however im still trying.
meat set me up with a job working for the site , 10hours of work. i can distribute it daily.

i worked in australia for 3months in the cotton fields. before i came to europe. i went to australia with 2000. lasted me 3months. then found a job on a cotton farm with other back packers. we worked 16-20 hr days / 7 days a week for about 11 weeks. i made 12k. which paid for alot of activities in australia and my flight / expensives to europe. in the end i had about 3500 for europe.

tame thats ok. its the thought that counts :D
thanks to all who helped me get home and a big thanks to TL.net

some tricks.. pasta is ur new best friend. also rice. you find deals in the supermarket that no one else looks for . ie. chicken that expires the next day. = very very cheap. yet so good. lol. you never eat out. and usllay just buy ur own alcahol at the store. instead of buying from the bar.
more tricks for saving money

I wouldn't mind being "stuck" in amsterdam for a month.

Note that not only he's "stuck" in Amsterdam but that he's "stuck" in Amsterdam living with some nice girl at her house...
How can you be stressed out man?

That's a trick? I did that whole my life. Although I go to a bar with friends from time to time (and quite often during winter) as the drinks there have very comparable prices to these in the shops.

yeah , im a pretty solid guy , not fat. maybe alittle bit of excess around the weight. but nothen out of the norm. iv talked to a few more guys from the netherlands that are willing to help me out. going to help me find some work.
im working right now for liquid`meat. but the directories im trying to list the site in. most of them u have to pay or . make ur regisiter. he tells me to stay away from those sites. every other site is one of those sites. + its hard to im usen the girls notebook that im living with
but im determined. even when i work the 10hours as required and IFi get below expectations theres no way i can let meat pay me full amount.
