Am sure he is good guy and maybe just felt a little embarrassed by the whole situation or whatever, but he has debt to this community now and he should of shown a little more love imo.

To get the help that they should be giving you anyway so you don't have to feel bad mooching off friends and random people on the internet. What kind of question is this? As for the person who said that he needed money and not a place to stay, what did he need money for? Wasn't it pretty much for food? Getting the embassy to assist you in getting into a shelter would have eliminated the need for this. Sure, it would have been a lot less interesting as a story, but it would have also made a whole lot more sense than looking for random jobs online and burdening people with your situation (basically the girl he was staying with and whoever else was supporting him while he was meeting people for free meals and drinks). I'm not sure why you would see this story as inspirational at all. Maybe it was inspirational while he was backpacking across the world, but I don't see anything inspirational about his decisions from the moment he was robbed. If anything, they were irresponsible and short-sighted.

He needed money not just for food, but to change his flight because the ticket was for a plane in the UK at Feb 1st and he couldn't afford to stay at that girls house until then. Changing your flight location and time isn't necessarily cheap either. I would rather him be sincere than be a dishonest person.

If he told the embassy that he didn't have a place to stay, it wouldn't have necessarily been dishonest since he only had a place to stay due to someone's good graces. It's not like he had a hotel he was paying for or an apartment he was renting. He was essentially homeless.

Just because someone is willing to take you in doesn't necessarily mean that you should take the offer, especially when there are alternatives. They may not complain about it because they feel sympathy for you, but still you should take into consideration that you're burdening them with your problems as well and try to find a better way to deal with it. She was very supportive and helped me out alot.We still keep in touch and are very close. I dont feel i made any poor or short sighted decisions. For everyone who added me on Facebook. If you go to my photo albums and look under random you will see the lovely girl i stayed with " Sylvia" and other pictures from around Europe that i had a on disposable camera. I never went inactive. I got right back in to BW after few a few months back. I hung out on the site quite a bit. i still kept in contact with old bw friends. Im really proud to see my old friend " Lzgamer" still very active and doing well!! I will never forget what the Tl.net community and its operators did for me.. Now that I look back i can say that it was a Great Adventure and an awesome learning experiance!

Glad you made it home. Perhaps one day I can hear the story in person since you're back home.

Wgtour/Pgtour really improved the foreign bw scene. I played sc2 single player. Played a few games on bnet but never got into it. I got over whelmed with school and work.

These are the things we should be reading about in the newspapers instead of what Paris Hilton's shit smelled like and the new haircut of Justin Beiber. I'm glad everything turned out well, I was recently in the same position (well almost) I got stuck on Fuerteventura for a couple of weeks. Lucky for me my parents could help me:p
