Great Lakes Brewing Co. in Cleveland is my favorite brewery I think, mainly cause it's the closest one to me that I find really good. When it's fresh, their Eliot Ness is amazing, but I've found it pretty variable if it's not super fresh. I haven't had many non-American beers, particularly ones that aren't the standard imported brands. Wine, I enjoy it a lot (mainly red) but don't know much about it. Also it makes me sleepy/knocks me out pretty good. Other drinks, I don't have very often, I usually enjoy anything competently made though, and they are usually accompanied with a party atmosphere/mindset for me.

Back in the day I could drink a shitload of beer liquor whatever and not get sick.(and i mean ALOT) and now almost everytime I drink i get sick(really really sick even when i drink enough for a decent buzz/slightly drunk) has anyone else had this happen to them? What do you mean by sick? If you mean hangovers, then yeah.. I recall especially when I was like 18 and did a school trip to Hungary for a week. We all drunk about 3-4 bottles of wine during the day, and then we had 3-4 drinks during the evening and drank beer as water. I didn't even get a hangover, but just felt like an elephant being peppered with tranq darts haha. I wouldn't be able to cope with half of that now.. If you mean that you throw up.. Well personally I've gone the opposite road. When I was like 14-16 something I almost always drank too much, but after that you know your limits. I still never really get a hang over, no matter how much I drink, its kinda weird lol. but no i used to be able to drink as much as i try to now without getting sick(as in puking blah blah) back when i was like 16-17, and now I cant drink anywhere near that without puking my insides out. its really weird, then again I don't have a good feel on my limits since i rarely drink anymore. that could have something to do with it I never get hangovers, but while I drink I have something I'm calling the "throw-up-limit". If I drink and pass the throw-up-limit I can drink an "unlimited" amount and not get sick. But there's always that time were I get really nauseous. This is weird, but it's how I've coped for years and years. When I reach the limit I always discretely bring a strong drink with me to the bathroom and drink it as fast as possible, either it makes me throw up once and I pass the limit, or I just keep it in and also pass the limit. The nauseousness never returns, I have no idea why that is. It happens everytime except if I also drank the day before. Then the limit doesn't exist since my body thinks I've already passed it. I've been this way since I was 18, I'm 28 now and through periods of rarely drinking and drinking way too often this pattern has stayed the same. Nowadays I drink more often than ever. I also have a theory that the throw-up-limit thingie is what prevents me from getting hangovers no matter how much I drink. I mean, I believe it's connected somehow. My drinks are Jägermeister and/or Vodka. Always.

The only thing available that is 95% alcohol in Sweden is a liquid called t-sprit that's only used for fuel and cleaning basically. And here I thought Americans were conservative when it came to alcohol lmao. It's highly recommended to not drink Everclear straight because it's so close to pure alcohol. As it goes down your throat the alcohol absorbs all the moisture, damaging the tissues. One shot of Everclear is basically equivalent to 2 1/2 shots of vodka.

![]() If I go for beers, my favorite easily available and cheap "everyday beer" is this. Unfortunately I drink much of them over the summer, not so much in the winter: ![]() Flensburger is pretty good, easy to get and pretty cheap. Can be recommended all around If I want a nice wheatbeer I usually go for this: ![]() Weihenstephaner is all around pretty awesome, especially the wheat beers. If I want beer as fresh as possible I visit a little Beergarden with its own brewery in my area. You can get very nice beer and food of good quality, of course you can also bring your own food and just go for beers. Sometimes you also get seasonal beers like Maibock or darker beers. All around pretty awesome I have to say. If you ever happen to be in Germany in the Rhineland you should give these guys a shot: http://www.ottersheimer-baerenbraeu.de/de/pub/ Link is only in german, no english available, sorry ![]() I get very curious if I have the chance to taste a beer that I don't know yet, so some of the suggestions in this thread will definately be tested. I also drink white wine either pure or in all kind of mixes. Hard stuff I usually prefer some rum or vodka. Rum usually with cola and vodka with lemon or as white russian. High quality only pure.

In western Germany you can still find in every bigger drinks market but I don't know many who drink it. I thave no idea how it is outside of Germany and Denmark, but I guess it's not too common.

Personally I'm a fan of just about everything. Beers when watching sports (I enjoy a good hef, or a good lager - steinlager pure from NZ is one of my fav's). Red wine to go with dinner and red meat. And hard liquor when I want to kick it up a notch, southern comfort being my drink of choice. As for a recipe, this is one that's popular in New Zealand and Australia, but noone knows about in the States. It is called a 'quickfuck', it's a shot consisting on melon liquer (often midori, but any will do), and baileys (I've had bad experiences subsituting in off brands here, but if you know a good one, thats fine. Now the shot is a layered shot, so you're pouring in the midori first, and then floating the baileys on top of it - this can be done straight up, using the back of a spoon, or pouring slowly down the side of the shot glass, if you're new to the technique, expect to fuck up a couple times. So in the end you're looking for clear separation between the baileys and the midori (because if they mix, it looks gross, and if they dont mix it's actually a really pretty shot). I'm neither a big fan of baileys, nor melon liquer, but this shot has been a hit with everyone i've made it for (especially the ladies), be aware though, since baileys sand melon liquer are around 20%, you'll need to have approx 2x as many of these as you would normal shots, if you're looking to get drunk. Other than that, it a great way to start the night.

If im really really drunk and then keep drinking alot in a short time, i can drink unlimited without feeling sick. Noticed for the first time when i was 18 and drank 1 bottle of vodka for a start, passed that point, drank on nonstop 4 hours after that. Next day at 8am i was in school again totally feelign alright.

Edit: Besides Anchor Steam. I fully intend on trying that since I can't believe I never got around to buying some, but was interested in other more traditional lagers.

These beers have mostly all been ales though, and I was wondering if anyone had any good lagers that I could find easily out in San Francisco? Despite how much crap I'll get for this, I actually do enjoy Pabst and was curious what a "good" lager should taste like. Edit: Besides Anchor Steam. Pabst is reputably a decent lager, although I haven't tried it myself. You would probably enjoy the Munich Helles Lager style. I did a quick Google and maybe talking to the guys at City Beer Store would be worth it if you live close to there. I'm sure they could point you in the right direction.

So cheap yet fantastic wine overall, definitely a great value. Went down great with the beef. It wasn't raw steak and had a hefty amount of seasoning, but it was still very nice overall.

If I have to carry on a conversation, or theres a ton of people in the room, I cant smell or taste shit; I might as well have poured a cheap blend. And I know im not an alcoholic, because I havent been intoxicated in months. So yeah, I say we throw that rule out.
