Damn you, public education. If only my teachers had been paid more money...

Social security isn't untouchable, and there's no 'debt' the government owes to boomers that have been paying all their lives (they've been paying way too little in the first place). While people might feel like they deserve it, that's not how the system works and eventual cutbacks on social security are simply unavoidable, even with tax increases. That's pretty much true for any developed nation in the world.
You made me sad ... for Americans. The Canadian Revenue Agency confirmed that the Canadian Pension Plan is secure for the next 75 years, even accounting for factors such as longer life expectancy, earlier retirement or another financial shock.

Any SS cut just seems like a way to pay for corporate tax cuts straight from working class pockets.

The defense budget is part of discretionary spending and unrelated to Social Security funding. It is a problem that the government borrowing against the SS Trust Fund despite the protestations of conservative libertarian Republicans like Al Gore, but nonetheless entitlements are on track to be funded through 2038 right now, and that number could easily be extended through simple measures such as raising the FICA cap.

Crazy.

Crazy. Yep it is confirmed to be him. I might actually force myself to wade through that mess of a website to see what transpires.

Okay I lied. I couldn't resist reading the rest. I'm still not going to answer point by point but this was just too juicy to pass up.

I'm going to guess marijuana legalization is going to come up like his last internet question event. Also some people will probably annoy him about his comments on video games :x

You're not going to answer point by point, just cherry-pick the one thing you think you can rebuke me on. How very xDaunt of you.
That was a speech. A speech from 2003 -- that is the most relevant thing you could find... It is not a piece of legislation. Obama did not propose any single-payer healthcare system, but he is guilty of politically pandering to the AFL-CIO.
But I'm sorry you decline to actually respond in full to my post. Considering the second youtube link you enticed me (and whomever else) into clicking for absolutely no reason but to gloat over your perceived internet "victory", I'm not inclined to think it's of any loss.
This is why you and the Tea Party suck. You give me a nearly ten-year old speech Obama gave to the AFL-CIO, and state it like its been his policy as acting President.
So dishonest and intellectually corrupt.

It was not a spelling error, just an extremely sensationalist word-choice. This bantering is unproductive, and I'll stop taking the bait now. You're a credit to your party.

Reddit just died, given the massive amount of traffic the site handles every day it seems the Obama AMA is (understandably) attracting a lot of attention very, very fast. I'm eager for it to come back to see the question and answers.

What, are we really going to pretend that Obama wouldn't have pushed for the inclusion of a public option and single payer system in Obamacare if he could have gotten the support for it from his own party?

No, I'm sure you'll make whatever assumptions you want from a 9-year old speech Obama gave to the AFL-CIO.
But, meanwhile, facts are facts. "Would've" or "Could've" is meaningless. Obama passed whatever legislation he passed, and despite any compromises he made in doing so, he is labelled not for what he did, but for something he said once in a singluar youtube clip.
edit: And for myself, I'd like single-payer. But the health-insurance middle-man industry is too ingrained into our economy. It'll require small steps to get there, if we ever do.

How about you consider that there are other people reading this board, and provide them with something more relevant than a nine-year-old youtube clip and a rap video?
You wanted to make a point that Obama was pushing for single-payer healthcare system as acting President. You have failed to make that point. It is no one else's fault but your own.
I insulted you, and probably should've refrained from doing so, despite any insults I perceive coming from you. But the fact is, you make accusations, you don't back them up, and then you top it off with taunts.

You genuinely don't know what you're talking about" attack. It was like I was having flashbacks to worker rushes on Steppes of War. I've been lost and confused ever since but I will try to regain my composure to try and give the reasonable defence of my ideas that such tough attacks as "Wow. You genuinely don't know what you're talking about." deserve.
Then maybe I can move on to answer the serious allegation that I "suck".

You are being extremely rude and are lowering the level of conversation in this thread. A lot of us want to have discussions but you are obstructing that. xDaunt supports many of the same things I'm sure you do, but he does it much more composed and politely than you do.
