Axelrod's argument was that it wasn't worth the fight, they didn't have the political capital, and fell back on typical pragmatism. Of course, Obama takes in quite a few dollars from Wall Street as well. But really, what's the point in having this agency if you are going to have the fox guard the henhouse? Just like every other issue, no attempt at leadership is being made to bring the case to the public. I'll agree with the point that he's not acting like a leader, to the Democrats mainly. Every time they go to the table, he picks the middle, Republicans pick the right, and Democrats pick their nose.

The downside is Romney's introduction of Romneycare while governor of Massachusetts. He chose not to distance himself from that decision. I am very opposed to the institution of required purchase of health insurance for the individual. Well, at least he has successfully run a business and, at least, pledges to repeal/defund Obamacare (Affordable Health Care Act). This is my third time voting in a Presidential election, and I consider this one even more important than last two, given the path the country has been heading in the last 4 years.

The patriot act how bout the 2012 defense-authorization bill Oh god GW is listening to your phone call. The Bush tax cuts were across the board btw that's why Obama won't ax it because he'd be raising taxes on the middle class and small businesses as well. So what's your plan with NK? We'll be fighting China in a heart beat. What does ww2 have to do with Bush? Bush had the option of stopping a country developing nuclear weapons vs one doing nothing. Herp derp the patriotic only allows wire taps. I guess the rest of it Is just fairy tales. The DA act would have passed with or without Obama. Herp derp again of course Obama went for the bush tax cuts during an election year. Political suicide would have been better I guess. That way we could Romney and his puppet masters. Do you reall think china would attack us? Really? Doubtful send every drone we have at north Korea and watch china sit there because they don't want a war. North Korea has continued to violate sanctions and the bombing on south Korea was an act of war. Yet we allow that too happen. All while threatening Iran who has done nothing with no proof of doing anything kind of like Iraq. We will continue too sit on NK until they become an actual threat to our soil and it will be to late. All while destroying the middle east.

Personally I hope Romney wins but i don't think it's going to be a close race either way. I think everyone is going to be surprised how exactly the same both Obama and Romney are, moderates. Add to the fact that the polarization of the two political parties the next four years will pretty much be the same as this past four years have been.

Probably still better to vote for the sane guy (Obama), but I'd be more interested in a thread about reforming the american political system (public funding of parties, 2 party system etc.) but that would imply the possibility of meaningful anti money reforms passing in the US. So yeah- mostly disillusionment here.

Also, a (hopefully) inspirational post I wrote about voting for a third party, in the "Why do people in the US vote" thread.

I voted for him in 2008 and I've been disappointed countless times, with the way he just caves into their every demand, just throws away his own policies to compromise with the Republicans in some insane hope that they will return a favor. The one thing I think Bush did right that Obama could have learned a lot from is Bush never gave a fuck what his approval rating was he pushed his agenda and he made it go through no matter of how fucked up, unconstitutional or even down right illegal it was he still did it. You would give up the rule of law to further your political agenda?
