I find it weird that people bitch about 4 dollars. Im using spotify but i just pay 99SEK(12/13 bucks or something) every month and get it unlimited and on my mobile phone too. Its very worth it.

Well i guarantee you 99% of the people who use it, use it because its free. As soon as thats taken away why not go to another site thats just as good? Last.FM is an option as well as spotify. I don't think anybody is really "bitching" about it more or less interested why Finland pays 4$ and Romania 2$.

I'm relieved that it's still free atm in the United States, by I feel bad for those in countries where they will start being charged. If you guys can afford the minimal fee per month, it would be nice if you could pay for it. If it went to $4 a month in the US I'd heavily consider paying for it as it's a great service and has been so useful for me so far.

Grooveshark is a great service, and its being free only enhanced its appeal. It's worth paying money for anyway, especially since you don't have access to Spotify and the like in Europe, but this is bound to have significant impact on consumer numbers. 4 dollars is not much in the grand scheme of things, but when translated into Romanian currency, it may deter customers from spending the extra sum on a luxury they could do without. There's always youtube.

I'm still not exactly sure what Grooveshark is even after wiki. So you can search, upload and stream your music? Kinda like Limewire 2.0 I guess? It sound like their financial problems could be a result of them being sued to hell.

Long as they give some $ to the artists whoose songs gets 'airtime' after paying for upkeep and salaries its all good.

If I have to choose, I'll pay 4$ to grooveshark over spotify(tried that crap since beta and it was alright, then the catalouge went to the town pub and lost a game of in the lake. Not to mention the whole facebook crap.)

You can use it like youtube for music, except it's easier and faster.

There's an extention for Grooveshark in chrome for Germany.
Also, the costs probably depend on the licencing cost that the licence/right institution demands from anyone who uses music, in this case Grooveshark. In Germany that would be GEMA (representing composers, authors and music publisher rights). I would guess that GEMA demands too much so that Grooveshark doesn't even bother opening for the German market.
I guess that Grooveshark can cover their licencing fees/operating costs in Finland with ~2$ per user, while it would require ~4$ to cover all fees occuring in romania per user.

WTF? you kidding me? it has been locked/blocked in germany since about 2 weeks.

i'm using a proxy to access grooveshark since then. but it's not free anymore. you don't even have an option to pay. it's just locked.

ps: when ACTA is passed, using grooveshark will maybe be an actual crime........... omfg........................... internet, why you not cool anymore?

I believe that the most targeted countries are probably those who have the larger user bases. As for my country, I do not think that many people even know about Grooveshark. So therefore I still have access to this great site. For me it is truly splendid that one can stream almost all kinds of music from the site for free. Very handy indeed.
