hm uninspiring there are already a bunch of streetwear/menswear hybrid designers out there like ann, jil, raf, alexander wang, ervell, helmut, etc each with their own interpretations and styles. unfortunately, wooyoungmi doesn't really bring much to the table imo.
|
i didnt wanna say boring lol.
theres stuff thats kinda ok like this but for the most part none of it interests me really. what do you define as streetwear?
|
anything that ain't mfa
really though, anything that isn't menswear is obviously meant to be worn on the street.
|
lol mfa
actually going through some threads on there surprised me. not as bad as i thought it was gonna be
oh you meant like, literally streetwear and not supreme/stussy/whatever streetwear gotcha

lol. You're not going to have much fun if that's the attitude you have going into it. People that club in Gangnam live for dress code and kill it. Just go over to H&M and buy some cheeky blazer & shoes for cheap and be done with it.

What blue is the tie? Blue tie with light blue shirt sounds like a bit much. But on the other hand it's a club not a funeral lol
|
navy on a pastel blue shirt is pretty standard.
also quesadilla (hi btw you havent posted in a while :p) has a point. if youre clubbing you might end up trashing that shit so just buy something cheap and go get drunk
also i just ate a quesadilla this is awks

haha i found something really cute on mr. porter actually (like 'hehe that's interesting cute'), random whimsical liberties like this are fun occasionally. yeah i'm not going to take my visit there seriously anymore, just find random shit for the funz

i might just nix the blazer, so much work to shop in korea, idk there's a zara in hongdae so that might be something to look at, not a fan of h&m in general, qc is bleh. i need shoes tho so that might be something to look at
also rofl i was more annoyed with myself that i packed so light, i wouldn't even have the tie if i hadn't found something random in florence (yay study abroad summer)

youre partying though, i dont think you need good quality, just get in the door and go have fun :p.
for $350 you can probs find better pants tbh. i mean i guess if you really like the cut, but they're trousers so.
packing light is better! minimalism and shit. and it gives you an excuse to buy stuff
why dont you get suit separates from uniqlo?

Hello, started reading this thread yesterday I have a question about watches. I saw that you guys are recommending to wear a nice watch. Now what is considered nice watch these days ? I am a student, and i have http://www.chronograph.com/store/catalog/products/SNDC89P-L.jpg that i got from my parents when i passed anatomy few years back xD (i changed wrist band(is that what it's called ?) for a black alligator calf without stitching).
A months or so ago i saw 2 casio watches i really like, something like this: http://www.klalshopping.com/image/cache/data/Puree Market/Casio Watches/images242_1-500x500.jpg
I have small hands and really narrow wrists, so anything big and bulky is a big NO for me.
What is something i should be looking into ? As for price range, it's not really a big deal...but i would like to go as cheap as possible of course xD 500e should be as far as i would go (even that is a lot ).
Thank you!
P.S. Is there some rule about wearing leather/metal watches with different clothing ? I am usually in a shirt/jeans when i'm out or at uni.

it's k i'll get really cheap random korean shit and look fobby woop woop

So, depends how much you want to spend in reality. 500 euros is a lot to drop on a watch when you are a student, but not a lot to drop in general. A lot of the very nice watch brands start at 10-35k USD as a minimum, those can go up to the hundreds of thousands or even a million dollars (USD). I would personally suggest to you instead of spending that 500, buy one that is cheaper. The 500 watches aren't going to be that much nicer than those that are around 200. It isn't until you get much more expensive that the watches begin to enter a new echelon; all of those watches are machine made, mass produced, and not a work of art (up to your opinion on this one). It's honestly not worth the 500, pick one that you enjoy that is maybe half that. That is just my opinion though.
When it comes to big and bulky, don't get a diving watch if you don't want big and bulky, all the chrono-graphs are going to be larger. I would suggest Seiko, (or even a replica rolex if you don't care that it's a replica) in general for 500 though if you want to spend the full 500.
I would suggest these two watches for you Tissot watch #1 Bulova watch #2 This one is only if you want to spend a lot of that 500 and want a more flashy, less useful watch. buy it for looks, not for life
Note: I understand that you are talking euros and I'm talking USD, and there is a monetary difference between the two, but that honestly doesn't have that much of an effect here.

watch thread
depends on the look you're going for. minimal? diver's? chrono? watches are a little removed from men's fashion because they have their own little world, compared to other accessories.
go look at different watches, find a watch forum. it's hard to recommend you something to start with because you kinda... have to have a collection or something.
quality is in the movement (of the watch - as in what makes it move). you actually have to learn a bit about the differnet kinds, but in general there's quartz and mechanical. mechanical watches use automatic winding (aka movement) and don't need batteries. quartz watches do.
at sub 100, you can look at Timex (i recommend the weekender watch), Nixon, and g shock. i guess Casio too.
at sub 300, you can try Orient (I have one), ive heard good things about Bulova, and some Seiko (seiko 5 line !!!!) models.
Anything above that and you better make sure it's mechanical, otherwise you're paying for an overpriced chinese made toy watch lol.
Sure the design factors in (fucking marc jacobs, and especially burberry with their fossil produced watches), but i mean you may as well pay for quality.
as for straps, theres metal/leather/NATO (nylon, usually replacable). pick which is your style. i can recommend some good places to get NATO straps but the other two you might want to find a jeweler around you? leather/metal tend to be more formal but you can pull it off with just shirts or w/e.
in reply to docvoc:
"Good" within the realm of watches and horology doesn't start till the above rolex line (10k or so). but for a casual person looking for an everyday watch you don't have to consider that. the only thing i'd really look at is basic design and a mechanical movement to make sure it lasts you a while.
It's true that there's the weird pricepoint between, say, 400-1k where nothing is really THAT much better and you may as well settle for a 400ish though, at least based on my research.
Tissot is a pretty good brand too. there's a lot of watch makers and i only listed ones i've looked into a good amount. Tag Heuer is also usually pretty reliable for sub 1k
don't get a movado. most of their stuff is quartz and overpriced. but if you must get it at discount pls, and you may as well go for a mechanical. they have a diffusion called ESQ that's pretty solid too, but you can get all of those at like 90% off.

I wrote about that in the tl+ thread ill repost it tomorrow
Basically
There are shirts worth $150 Kanye's name makes things sell
The whole collab had a ridic high price point considering its APC but the sweater thing looked really good lol
I dunno if you're questioning it or making fun of it or...?

Thanks for answers! I agree that watches in general are quite tricky. I am probably never ever going to own a watch in a 10-35k range. Unless you are a collector i would consider them a show off and definitely wouldn't wear one comfortably
From the suggested ones i really like Tissot, and seiko/casio as well. And a few years back i spent a month reading some watch forum. I remember that seiko and casio were recommended as great watches for a price you pay...which is 50-200e. (on a side-note , they hated rolex and swatch with fiery passion xD)

idk why people are making a big deal out of this. sure, it's uninspired minimalism at worst, but kanye clearly wasn't going for that with this line. if anything, it was borderline celebrity endorsement. what's important to note, though, is that there was a market for this product. does it matter that it was uninspired if it sold out within two weeks? no, it doesn't. by all measures, it was a success, and if you're actually making fun of the model then you, sir, are very silly.
|
well at apc pricepoint their plain tees are what, around 90-100 a pop? so with the kanye collab it's a ~50% markup which isn't too bad considering celebrity branded endorsements are traditionally way more expensive. I didn't like the entire collection, it looked like a minimalist version of the early-mid 2000s. and yeezy hasn't worn anything apc since college dropout so it's kinda strange he chose them to do the collab (or was it apc that chose yeezy :oooooo), reminds me of a cleaner ghetto style people wore in high school.
also, if we have argue with you to buy a tshirt over 30$, then it's better left unsaid. you simply won't appreciate the differences to justify the price in your mind, and the entire discussion would be circular and moot.
