What if it wasn't black shoes? plaid shorts suck, they make your midsection & bottom far too busy. besides, abercrombie shorts stopped being cool like 6 years ago or do other people make them too now?

uh running/walking shoes are the only things other than flipflops, loafers, and boatshoes that work with shorts. unless you're going hiking, then boots do ok with shorts too.

How did you learn to be, I don't know, such a master of fashion lol T.T I have no idea how one actually goes about figuring this out

for me the hardest part is picking an aesthetic. but i guess that comes with time

I'm awful at picking out patterns for casual wear button downs and visualizing what will look good on me and with what pants etc. I tried browsing Brook's Brother's extra-slim fit shirts but the selection for my size is very limited (or at least, the ones on sale). Any other sites you guys would recommend? I never see anyone mention modern tailor on here or what little I have browsed StyleForums, is there a reason for that?
|
idk just keep it simple. subtle stripes in different shades of blue are always ez
hard to find slimmer shirts that you can try on. depends what kind of shirt you want. OCBD or something a little more... how do i describe broadcloth lol.
also i ordered an ASOS tee and it came in today. the fit is pretty good (XS is just a little roomier than everlane XS) but the armholes are fucking TINY

you know what's hard though dressing business casual without looking like I'm 30 yet simultaneously projecting the necessary image of maturity to clients
fuck summer too btw
|
Dang, what do you do for a living? Also are you actually 30, but not dressing to appear it while still presenting a mature aura; or are you younger than 30, but trying not to dress like you're 30 while presenting a mature aura? If that made any sense lol

Furniture Ties are actually a bit too formal, if anything it's more a 'casual business casual' type of thing. But to be frank there isn't really a set dress code. I just have to look presentable, which is hard because I look/am young for this occupation. A bit casual (ie, levi's and a polo like everyone else wears) and I look like a college student; full on wool trousers + shirt and I look too overdressed - out of place and out of my own age.
also I ain't at sd no more I kinda hated that place anyways
|
get some 19ozs lol.
how could you hate sd! :OOO. o well. there really isnt all that much to do anyway.
geller sale has no flight pants T_T. guess i'm waiting till fw stuff drops

Ah I see, something like a stockbroker? Wowow :O
Also lol Juliette, yeah I have some friends in La Jolla who say the same thing T_T
Well won't be able to get any "real" clothes still, so I'll just have to settle for reading up, chilling in this thread, and longingly thinking about nice clothes for the time being :[

if you have any questions and need any recs just post. i think as a beginner you should be looking at different things and seeing what you like. develop your personal style early and all. also try stuff out at the mall even if you don't buy anything ^^

MFA uniform it is then, better get onto the olive chino bandwagon
Seriously though I'm in the same position. Because it's summer and ridiculously hot everyone just comes to work in whatever the fuck they want and I'm never sure what to wear so I just play it safe and stick with the suit. There's a guy that wears superdry short sleeve shirts with dress pants and the only reason it doesn't look completely awful is because he's ripped as fuck.
