not offended! nonono. thats false. and its perfectly good to come in without knowing how to dress. its just that we dont have much to go on when you ask such a broad question.
questions are never a bad thing - its just that its very difficult to answer the two you gave because its out of the blue. its like asking whether i should buy a box fan or one of those smaller rotating fans out of the blue. what's the context? do you live in a dorm room, apartment with little space. how are the windows where you live, and how expensive of a fan can you afford.
likewise, asking "what about brown leather shoes" without saying what you plan to wear with them is a little confusing and hard to answer. especially since brown leather shoes can be either very ugly or very beautiful, since it only refers to the material.

Nobody's offended by your question, just people find it inane People come here all the time asking "sup guys what goes with blue jeans man I'm real stumped" ????
Look at outfits from the average designer/retailer you think that look good, and start off by copying it. If you're still interested in clothing and copying doesn't give you the gratification you want, start researching & envisioning clothes that look good together and listen to the feedback you get. This shit is like cooking; there's recipes for success, but when you don't like a particular aspect of a meal, just tweak it to your satisfaction. You'd never go into a gourmet cooking thread/conversation and be all "yo guys the fuck goes with MEDIUM RARE steak I'm in dire straits right now like damnnn potatoes r boring but does rice go well with that ish pls dont hurt me for asking" like damn son that shit goes with everything just don't put ketchup on your steak or smth

I think what looks good with blue jeans depends on many factors. Of course, one factor is where you are located. Here in the US even the different states will kind of "dictate" what looks good. In some areas you can look great wearing a designer shirt with Jeans. In other areas, you will want a Country Western Shirt and Cowboy boats. And it depends on where you are going: whether a night out with guys or a night with your girlfriend.

the wild west of tl.net, where everyone would dress in aeropostale and running shoes if they could get away with it

I think that guy's a bot. His syntax and content are pretty generic. Look at his other posts.
Is there anything at a japanese mujii thats pretty good that i should have picked up?
|
If wearing an ocbd or shirt of similar style, should I be tucking it in for just casual wear, say, around school? Or is it untucked with jeans, tucked with chinos? Or is it more situational?
Also I'm looking for some shoes that would go with both jeans and chinos, but I don't really know where to look for them. Obviously I can shop online, but having never bought shoes besides sneakers I would like to try them on first but it isn't necessary. What style/color/material should I look for? Would like to keep it <$100 if possible.
I haven't bought any chinos yet but I'll probably just get 2-3, but for colors I was thinking a khaki, a gray, and maybe some brighter color? Not sure.

Check out the organic canvas tote. I haven't handled much of their clothes but they seem decent for the price although cut for an asian build

shoe trees if you need any, most of their generic houseware stuff is pretty good too. it's basically japanese ikea minus the flatpack
I need/want a sweater. Kinda undecided between this acne and this apc. Not sure about the stripes though. btw oki-ni has a massive sale on at the moment in case you haven't seen, CPs recs for £105, etc.

First time poster in here, but I need your guys' help.
I love pandas, and my girlfriend recently sent me this picture she found.
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/qSJ5llV.jpg)
I love the picture, but I've realized I REALLY like the outfit, but have no idea how to put it together for myself.
Could I get some help finding the corresponding pieces without breaking the bank?
|
It's a light grey peak lapel jacket, looks like some sort of shirt jacket, and a thicker cotton (ocbd?) shirt layered aggressively
Also that reminds me of mensweardog
Many stores carry all those pieces except the middle layer. What is "breaking the bank" and can you give some measurements so we can offer commentary on where you should pick them up?

I want a toj mdr so bad. The money exists but an $800 semi-impulse purchase just isn't a smart move for me right now. Wish they'd still be around a year from now.
Oh and:

imo keep the ocbd untucked unless you're wearing it non-casually, like with a bizcaz outfit.
Uhh imo a boot would be preferable specifically for wearing with jeans/chinos especially if you're just dipping outside of sneakers. For around $100 I'd look at the chippewa apache
http://www.amazon.com/Chippewa-20065-Handcrafted-Lace-Up-Chocolate/dp/B0036VN8PO/ref=sr_1_4?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1373853877&sr=1-4&keywords=chippewa boot
or a chukka boot, a lot of people recommend clark desert boots which if you wait for it on amazon or something will typically go under $100.

I don't think I could pull off boots in Florida very well for at least another couple months, or am I wrong to think that?
|
ocbd/chinos might be a little hot in florida. consider a linen blend for both
also tucking depends on the situation and what you think looks good
sneakers can actually work depending on the chino style. if its more formal it wont work but some casual chinos will still look okay. other than your standard oxford shoes or whatever penny loafers might be a good option for the heat. get no show socks.
khaki/grey/navy are safe bets.

nah you're on point, it's probably steaming down there. Also Juliette's right that you could totally wear sneakers both with chinos and jeans if they aren't dress chinos and the rest of the look is pretty casual. It really just depends on the individual sneaker.
Leaning on juliette's suggestion, maybe a pair of brown suede bucks? It's hard to know without knowing your style.camp mocs are probably something I'd prefer with chinos but they can work with jeans and they fit your other requirements of being good in hot weather, you can go sockless/no show socks (actually you probably should), and depending on where you are in Fl if you never know when you'll get caught in the rain it's not a big deal if they get wet.
|
yeah, it really does depend on your own style. what do YOU think looks good? browse some WAYRN threads (reddit might be pretty good for this aesthetic, ive seen it a lot on dappered too but they dont always look very good), figure something out for yourself. we can help with suggestions, recommendations, etc, but how about you post some pictures of how you normally dress/want to dress?
|
What's WAYRN? What are you wearing right now?
I'll post pics if you want, but it's nothing imaginative. I mostly just wear jeans/shorts + tee atm, which is why I'm looking to expand my wardrobe. I'm not exactly sure what style I'm going for, just that I want to look like I know what I'm doing when I dress myself in the morning.
There's a big outlet mall 30 minutes from where I live, I'll probably head over there and browse to see what there is that I like.
List of shops: + Show Spoiler +Adidas Aeropostale American Eagle Outfitters Ann Taylor Factory Store Banana Republic Factory Store BCBG Max Azria Brooks Brothers Factory Store Calvin Klein Charlotte Russe Chico's Columbia Sportswear Converse DKNY Dressbarn Dressbarn Woman Ecko Unltd G.H. Brook's Brothers, J Crew, Banana Republic, Gap, Levi's, and maybe Izod? are on the list of places I want to go to first. I much prefer shopping in person vs online so I can try things on. If anything I'll just take pictures in the dressing room for feedback.
|
yeah.
post pictures of what you want to look like
what outlet is that?
try polo RL. they have some decent stuff, and its a step up from gap. brooks outlet tends to not carry extra slim fit stuff so be wary. but worth a check.
quality wise, brooks > polo > j crew > br > gap i would say. should be similar pricepoint wise too. remember that outlet stuff is sometimes made for outlets and are inferior in quality. also lacoste does actually make decent polos (albeit a little overpriced - you pay for the damn crocodile) if you're into those.

Didn't like any of the shirts I found, but I did find some pants:
+ Show Spoiler +
I got those and a khaki color for $45 total. It's not a perfect fit, but good for the money and better than the Bonobos that I previously ordered and returned, though I definitely noticed the difference in quality.
Also I tried on some shoes, and I liked some Sperry's that I found, but din't get them since it would have exceeded my budget for the day (was mainly just going to check things out). I think I like shoe #2 better, could go either way though.
Shoe #1
Shoe #2
Now it's time to shop for a few shirts.

big in the thigh but you can get that taken in
the boat shoe looks better than the mocs but lots of people here dont like boat shoes so no comment lol.
