After spending 3-4 hours reading and rereading all of these responses I was unable to narrow it down to three. In fact, I wasn't even able to narrow it down to ten. So instead of giving out three copies based on responses, I'm simply going to give them all out at random (angry PMs may be directed to me!).
However, each of these keys should contain a giftable copy on Steam (not positive on this, but to my knowledge these are regular game keys). I strongly urge the winners to pick someone in this thread to gift a copy to. There are technically 20 copies being given away but I am unable to break them up myself so it would be on you guys to do so.
In addition, I will not be attempting non-random contests again in the near future as there are simply too many good answers to narrow down (which is why I haven't tried before now). I apologize for this and I will look for other ways to give out games in the future which don't require such headache inducing choices on my end.

Thanks to everyone that entered and again I apologize for being unable to narrow down the posts enough to select winners based on content.
Achron is the first and only game to feature single-player and multiplayer free-form time travel. It is the world's first meta-time strategy game, a real-time strategy game where players and units can jump to and play at different times simultaneously and independently.
I have quite a few copies of this to give away and I'm going to do things slightly differently than I usually do. There will be two contests utilizing this same thread; most copies will be given away at random per usual while three copies will be given away to the top three responses (judged by myself and potentially a few other people).
Winners will be chosen a day or two after the contest ends. This is due to a slight delay in the Steam version of the game because of the holidays.

Must have over 10 posts Must have an account older than one month Only one post allowed per person To enter, post in this thread with a response to the following question: If you could travel to any point in time when would it be and why (if you're aiming to win one of the judged copies I would recommend writing slightly more than a one liner unless you feel your post is overly witty and clever.
Winners will be chosen at random and announced on Tuesday, Sep 06 4:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) and will receive their retail key immediately after.
First, I'll check the winning lottery number then I'll travel back to yesterday to win said ticket. With that amount of cash I'll spend half of it trying recreate the time travel phenomena and when I do, I'd RULE THE WORLD /Evil laugh.
I would go back in time to the Indian revolution. Two of my great-grandfathers had huge roles in the uprising in Mumbai/Bombay, and I would kill to see what they actually did and what happened. Supposedly one of them was a close friend of Gandhi's and ended up founding what would become one of the largest private school systems in the country while the other was one of the most influential judges at the time. Just the opportunity to speak to them or even see what they did would be the fulfillment of a dream that I believe will never be realized.
I would go back in time, with my musical equipment, and play tons of songs from the present. I would be a virtuoso in the past. I would be... THEIR GOD. >:D
I would travel in time to right before I traveled back in time so I could travel back in time again. I would then repeat this process until I decide a better time.
I would travel back to the ancient world... probably around 100 years BCE, and hopefully tour the great wonder of the ancient world. I want to see the pyramids covered in white limestone and capped in gold, the colossus, the gardens of Babylon. I love ancient history, and getting to see these things when they were new (or still around in most cases!) would be wonderful
That's a really hard question to answer, but if I had to choose a specific time to travel to honestly, I would travel to when Humans are on full blown galactic travel, with huge space ships, crazy technology and medicine. I think it would be really fucking awesome to watch a solar flare in orbit around a sun, or witness two suns setting on a planet light years away from earth. It's really exciting and inspiring to think about what we will be in the future, the possibilities are literally limitless. I yearn for the day when I can say "Hot Coffee" and it materializes in front of my eyes, from a computer or full fledged holograms with which to interact. Not to mention knowing if we ever did find life elsewhere, are we friends or foes? Are we slaves to another race or the rulers of our own Galaxy, maybe beyond.
I really wish I wasn't born for another 800 years.
I would post an idea on this page to the following question, hoping to get first place, and every time I was denied because of my lack of creativity I would travel back in time and attempt again... Luckily that would be for infinity so I'm bound to perk some interest eventually. Herp derp : )
Or I would travel back and preform an abortion on either Rebecca Black or Justin Biebers mother...
Easy, I would travel back in time and obtain my copy of Starcraft the day it came out. At that moment I would always have advanced knowledge of the meta game but I would not interfere with the esports scene because I like how everything turned out in the end. I would simply practice my mechanics day and night and never emerge in the BW scene. Once I got too much attention, I would change account.
Then, I would obtain a copy of Starcraft II. I would also be quite ahead in the metagame, and that would be my time to shine. Aw yeah baby.
Unfortunately I can't go back in time and prepare for my programing career so I'm looking to play Achron instead ^^
1948 Arab-Israeli War. Nothing better than to shout "YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG" in the UN and Arab League's face. Ah prevention of epic historical failure.
If I could travel to any point in time, I would probably go back to 1998? I would tell my parents to invest in everything worthwhile, and prepare for the recession. Or 2008, and make sure I don't buy NX (in game currency for the game Maplestory), which is almost the worst thing I've ever decided to do in my life.
On the other hand, If I did travel through time, I would probably end up in the middle of the vast vacuum of space. The earth travels around the sun at like thousands of miles per hour, and the sun travels around the galaxy at an even faster speed, and the galaxy travels through the universe at an even faster speed. I'm not looking forward to dying FOREVER ALONE in the middle of space, unfortunately.
I would travel forward in time to after the winners of these prizes are announced so that I could copy one of the winning posts and then come back to post it before they did.
Securing myself a guaranteed copy of Achron. Score!
I would travel 1000 years into the future. What's going to be here? Will humanity have died out and the wilderness retaken the planet? Will our race have persevered and it's technology flourished, creating an advanced society? Will it be a post-apocalyptic wasteland where nothing lives? I'm willing to take those odds. Anyways, everything in the past has already been done, and you run the risk of creating time paradoxes and horrifically altering the future anyways. I don't want that kind of pressure, so I'll just roll the dice!
If I would travel back in time, I would travel back to the point where I took a picture of my poo and posted it on TL. I would say to my former self "NOOO, DON'T POST THAT PICTURE OF POOP!"
On September 02 2011 11:09 TheMango wrote: I would travel to a time where time travel was possible, then I could time travel anywhere I wanted after that.
That was my first thought...
I would travel to year 2000, in Korea. With my deep knowledge of BW, I would simply crush everyone while in 2011 I'm low C high on Iccup. I would use the Bisu build and 3-0 the Kong in finals. Then when I would travel back to 2011, the green eyed hero would be me instead of Grrr. (I do have green eyes), and there would be a Liquipedia page called "The endy build".
Otherwise, since I live in Shanghai, I would just go back to May 2011 and tell Kespa that there will be a fucking typhoon on the day they chose to organize the PL finals so they have to pick another date. And maybe in that alternative future, SKT wins :')
Smart answer would be to go back before we had the googles and the facebooks and the youtubes, and then just invent them all yourself. You'll be living in a time that you are familiar with and you'll have a lot of money.
I guess a fun answer would be to go back to the 70-80s though. Music was really good and people didn't give a fuck about anything. Before HIV was a problem. I want to experience this.
Personally I would probably travel to the very beginnings of life itself. I always feel like artists can never truly convey the realism of the alien worlds before our time.
I would travel back to medieval times with some now day tech......I would carry a couple of AK-47s and thousands of rounds of ammunition(to protect my new found civilization)........I would proceed to not only invent gun powder, but antibiotics, electrical power generators, and assembly-line production......after impressing the people enough with my "powers" I will develop a following of fanatical followers that end up making the graetest civilization known to man....yeah thats what id do!
I would travel to the year 2195 to acquire shoes that let you jump atleast 5 meters high. I then would travel to the year 2070 to buy sticky gloves so I stick to anything I touch. After that I would travel to the year 1340 and ride a horse I stole in a castle. I would take it with my and travel to the year 2319 and park it in my shape ship. I then would travel to the year 135.000.000 BC and jump as high as I could, place my hands on it's back and ride a god damn dinosaur. I would jump off, go back to 2319 to feed my horse a carrot, go back to 135.000.000 BC and ride some more god damn dinosaurs.
I would travel back to the time when Sappho was born at around 630 BCE, and I'd spend my days not only prevent or help her with her exile, I'd help her further develop her poetry and give her incite to the future of poetry, and how large of an effect she's had. I'd also attempt to recover the books she wrote that were lost, because her poetry was so beautiful and witty.
We know this much Death is an evil; We have the gods' word for it; they too would die if death were a good thing
Tonght I've watched the moon and then the Pleiades go down
I would travel to a time when human augmentation is possible in the same capability as shown in Deus Ex, and humans are literally as one with technology.
I would time travel forward until the point where humans develop a way to live forever. Then I'd take whatever it is I need to live forever, go back to whatever point in time full virtual reality video games start to be made, and I'd play the shit out of those for thousands of years, dominating everyone like a baws
Probably to kill one or all of Stalin, Mao, or Hitler, or Pol Pot. Man so many people we'd have been better off without, hopefully their deaths wouldn't cause any sort of Red Alert-esque people just filling their spots.
I would travel to the year you were born, and swap you with another baby. Would this game then cease to exist, and therefore myself cease to exist in that time? Would I go back to my own time or would I just disappear? So many questions need to be answered now.
If you could travel to any point in time when would it be and why.
I would travel to the past and give a note to my mentor that reveals exactly how he will die and how he can prevent it. (By wearing a bulletproof vest to stop the Libyans from pumping him full of lead.)
First, I go back and time and pick the winning lottery numbers. Then, I go to the future and steal the money that I would have had. Now I have double the amount :3

I would travel back in time and spoil teamliquid that the 2011 Jin Air OSL is Jangbang's OSL. The finals between Jangbi and Fantasy were epic, Fantasy just stayed 30 min after having no bases mining and no army, just building barracks and floating them over the map, it was the ultimate gg timing. Why you ask? Every Jung fan would have his soul crushed as I somehow bring the video and posted the gg timing part in Fantasy's gg timing thread because Moktira obviously posted the VOD in the VOD thread. Talking about that, I think Moktira uses time travel D:
edit: I won't win this contest, just travelled back in time to edit this message.
This is actually a question that is quite interesting; never had someone ask me a question like this before. I think the first question that has to be asked would be if you want to travel back in time, to find what was, or to travel the future, to find what will be.
To me, the past can partially be found by the use of what was recorded in time. Though it may be only glimpses into the past and what may have occurred, we have no knowledge of what will occur. I would travel 1000 years in the future to see how man has progressed. Did we succeed in leaving this solar system? Are man recognizable to be man anymore? (i.e. androids) Are man even still alive. I am curious, and would love to know what will be.
I would time-travel to whenever it would be more prestigious to be a professional gamer than to be a professional athlete... Don't know when, but it's happening
This is a tough question, and it would have to include the knowledge I currently have and the ability to affect the time in which I travel to. Since this is Achron (been following this game for a long time, fuck yeah), I'll assume I will have both. But it still leaves me with two points in time. Both, I would like to enact change to see the interesting circumstances which occur as a result. Again, since this is Achron, as long as I manage my chrono right, I should be able to observe one, remove the change, and enact the other to see which I find more interesting.
Point 1 would be about 1840 AD, Location: Republic of Texas. I would advocate remaining a Country as well as getting Llamar elected for western expansion to the Pacific Ocean. With good relations with USA, as well as Britian and France, I believe things would have been incredibly interesting. Most notably, the Civil War of the United States. Southern States may have asked to be annexed by The Republic of Texas instead of declaring themselves independant. The United States may have allowed this peacefully or a war may have started between the United States and the Republic of Texas, depenending if Texas accepted the states' annexion.
Point 2 would be around 1500 AD, Location: Inca Empire. Purpose? 'Modernizing' them for preparation of Spanish arrival, as well as preventing the civil war that helped the Spanish conquer them. I believe it would be interesting to see how a "New World Country" would be when exposed to the "Old World". Especially if they were on the 'same level' as the Old World. Would Spain have formed peaceful relations/trade, for gold/silver? Or would they still attempt to conquer and dominate? How would things evolve to today?
Of the two, my final choice would be Point 1, as I would have much more chrono to go into the future and find green ladies for fun rather than observation

Without a shred of doubt, I would travel to the year 0. I need to see Christianity sans 2000 year old fog, for what it was before blind faith.
I would write down the numbers for a lotto ticket that can be bought for $1 and will only win $100. Then, I would go 100 weeks into the past and give the "winning numbers" to my least favorite person in the world claiming that in the future we are best friends without telling him when the winning numbers would be drawn.
I would travel to the first day of high school for me. I would tell myself to try harder, don't settle for average or slightly above average. I would remind myself that time is short, and I can do anything I want. Hopefully, this would be enough to convince myself to work harder and not take things for granted. Cherish ones around me while I still have time, make my father proud.
Id go back to when I created my account on TL, make a different username, and eventually enter this contest under a different account, double the chance.
I'd like to travel into the time where the big bang probably happened. I would gather data and bring it back to present time to give science a little miracle.
I would go back in time to before September 11th occurred, and try to prevent it from happening. I know the time, planes, location, and individuals, so prevention is probably possible in some manner or other. Maybe it's just delaying the inevitable, but might as well try.
Problem with one person going back in time, who has 0 social status or credibility, is that there isn't much that you can change on a grand scale. Only the smaller things like Columbine, etc.. can really be prevented by one person. Who cares if you know the future if no one else is willing to act on it.
Or if it's possible to bring things back with you, maybe just a wealth of information to the right people of the era to speed things up. (E.g., fastrack medicine to prevent needless death from disease; fastrack technology to get the standard of living up; fastrack democratic ideals and civil rights; etc...).
Who would want to time travel? The consequences of going backwards to the past can be irreversible, and cause a ripple effect to the future. You might change ONE thing and you might not be born which would lead you to not going back in time in the first place. And according to the OP you won't have a way to go back to the future once in the past, causing your reason to go back counterproductive/utterly useless.
As for traveling to the future, I'm still against it. Sure it would be cool to see spaceships like in Halo engage in epic battles on TV (or the future equivalent) but really, how fun would that be? I'm sure most of you guys/gals are young and still have a few more decades left. How would you spend your time in the future? Would any female want an "old" person from the past? How out-of-date will your knowledge be? Where are your family/friends? In my opinion, I would rather live in the present where I know who people are and influence the future (maybe get a footnote in a history book or two). Lastly, you don't know when the world ends (if at all) so if you go too far then you will die of either loneliness or lack of oxygen.
I gave the question quite a lot of thought--there's so many cool and amazing things in history that would be amazing to experience (or re-experience.) However, after debating between a few things, I've decided that I would go into the past in an effort to meet whom I believe to be the most inspirational person to ever live: "Scatman" John Paul Larkin. I reckon we could have some really cool conversations =]
id travel back in time to when the dinosaurs lived. id try to assimilate a few and have a dinosaur "farm", with just me and the dinosaurs living together. i especially like the aerodactyls, so maybe i can become best friends with one and we can fly around the earth together and just look at all the amazing things.

You sir are a genius...and you stole my idea...so that means you already have time travel available and you went back in time as I was typing my post and you took it before I could hit Post. -_- I bow to you.
I would go back in time to exactly the time that I am making this post, and tell the past me that the only way to win this competition is to make a post about making a post about going back in time to tell myself to write a post.
Oh, and I'd also tell myself the winner of the next North American Starleague. Just so that I can gain some prizes by making a thread here on TL betting on who will win the next Starleague.
I would travel to the year 5000. It's sufficiently far in the future to see really awesome technology but not so far that, hopefully, humanity wasn't been completely wiped out.
I'd travel back in time to 1998, and start playing starcraft from release. Seriously, this time around. Not just hopping around, doing BGH's and fastest...
If I could go back in time I would go to the day Hitler was standing outside of school with his bag, then I would grab his hand and bring him forward in time to an undisclosed location eliminating him from history. What could possibly go wrong.
I would travel back to an ancient time where there were no rules or laws and live life as it is meant to. maybe western colonies around the 1700's or ancient greece in 600 BC
If I could travel to any point in time I would go to when windows was first selling its stocks for little to no price and buy MILLIONS of shares so that I could just buy the game instead of trying to win it as a prize....but a prize will be just as good
Fundamental rules make it impossible to travel back in time, as things can not be unmade. If moving backwards through time was possible, a person could prevent themselves being born rendering an impossible situation. Therefore, one can only travel forward in time. And if I could travel forwards in time, I would not change a thing, since I am already traveling with time.
To be honest, I would travel back to the very beginnings of Habitable Earth. Think of how much different things must have been back then?! I don't think we as humans even have any idea what it could have been like.
I'd like to travel forward in time to witness the true golden age of man. When we don't fear such petty things as atmospheric storms, and big asteroids. Basically I'd like to travel forwards in time to when Mankind is a Stage 3 species on Michio Kaku's scale.
i'd make a list of all the broodwar and classic builds being timed out so far , practice ALL of those AND mechanics for a year and then go back to starcraft release and fuck up everyones shit for a decade as the bonjwa of bonjwas... everything they come up with will get crushed because i'd be YEARS further along in the metagame after my decade long reign of terror i'd retire right about when flash becomes ridiculous sit back in my kickass villa laugh and have a good time
If I were to travel to any given time it would have to be sometime in the future. wouldn't it be awesome to see how Earth looks in 900 years? :D and besides I dont want to risk the whole "change something in the past and you might not even get born" thing
This is a pretty tough question actually, there are a number of answers to give. I think what I would choose is to go back before September 11th 2001 to try to stop the September 11 attacks (if only by sending in anonymous calls before the planes take off to get security to check them). Perhaps I would go back shortly before World War 2 and warn as many Jews as I could in Germany before the Holocaust occurred to save lives, or maybe to try to warn the naval base at Pearl Harbor, or warn Poland before the Blitzkrieg.
If I had the power to travel through time, I would try to save lives.
I would travel back in time and steal the first PC computer. Then knock out Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, the Woz and anyone else around at the time and put them in a room and make them all come to terms so we don't have this ridiculous PC vs Mac divide. ITS THE SAME DAMN HARDWARE PEOPLE!! Why do you care so much what stupid software it's running?!?!
Seriously, I have so much rage when people argue about computers. It would solve so many problems. Honestly this would remove about 80-90% of the smugness and 40% of the hipsterism in the world today. It would also make many many forums a safer place.
I'd travel backward, for sure. Because if you travel backward almost any amount of time, there's a way to turn that into infinite amounts of money. And money is awesome. Also, I'd be able to fix things that were fucked up beforehand, both to be nice to myself and world, and to simply be a badass hero. I'd probably go back like 7 years, so I could accomplish all of that as well as say goodbye to my best friend before he went away. I'd assume the identity of my old self at 17 years of age. =D
I would go back in time and tell myself to play Brood War for real and not spend all my time playing Marine D or Sunken D. I would have loved to be more involved with the game at the beginning of the esports scene.
i would travel a week before michael jackson's death. I would prevent the king of pop's death of overdosed medication and watch his new songs and tour.
If I could travel back in time I would travel to march of 1998 to the release of SC. Now I never played SC or SCBW competitively I only played it for fun custom games with friends. If I could go back in time I would love to to try out my shots at being a professional SCBW player.
I would practice achron day in and day out. Then travel forward in time when military strategy revolves around this very technology. Then I would become the best Stratego in the nation of my choosing and using my skills that I practised in achron, I would take over the world. Then using all of the chrono resource available, i would send a message back through time and tell soo to 3 hatch hydra stats so SKT could win the PL final. Also, i would have destroyed the typhoon with the new technology so Shanghai SPL Finals fiasco didnt have to happen and i would have been able to watch.
I'd go back to the mesozoic era, mid-Jurrasic probably, with a video camera, a couple of really durable time capsules, and a shitload of memory cards. I'd film enough footage for 100 episodes of Walking With Dinosaurs, then put the memory cards in the capsules and spread them all over the world. Then when i was growning up, I'd have been able to see what dinosaurs actually looked like instead of computer generated images. (fuck casualty ^^; )
Also I'd write my name on dinosaur bones, just to screw with the paleontologists.
Travel all the way back to 1992. That was the year I was born and I've always been curious what its like to be me. Not in the sense where I AM myself, but rather seeing myself in a different perspective and view.
Only because I'm such a weird kid and see where it all started.
If I could travel back in time (while being the same age and having the same knowledge as I do now), I would go back to 1991 and apply for ANY position in Silicon & Synapse (aka Blizzard Entertainment), even janitor, just to hang out with awesome people all day long as well as play MTG and all their developed games with them.
Well assuming I can travel more than once (as if you could only travel once you would be stuck in the time you traveled to anyways), I would do that following:
Travel forward in time to Jan.1 of every year for the next 100-300 years to see the progression of mankind. I think seeing how we change and advance in the future is probably more interesting than actually experiencing the change. Eventually I would obtain some sort of universal translator, so that when I go back in time, I could actually communicate with people (I lol at everyone traveling back in time without realizing they won't be able to communicate with anyone and they would be alienated). I would also try and find some sort of "Eternal Youth" drug or machine. Not to make me immortal, just add another 100 or so good years to my lifespan.
After getting the translator I would go back in time to 0BC, and try and see just what happened to "Jesus Christ". After that I would to ancient Greece, to see the beginnings of what most of modern society is based on. Travel forward a bit to Rome, to see what that was like. The finally to a time in medieval Europe, and either use my knowledge of technology and what naught to become a king (or god). Or maybe by then I would have a change in heart and just want to live my life on a farm, let's face it, most of us secretly wish for such a simple life.
Can one really choose one so simply? There are simply too many, avoidable, disasters in history. December 9, 1907 - The Monongah Mining Disaster. June 3, 1998 - Eschede train crash. September 11, 2001 - World Trade Center Collapse. July 22, 2011 - Massacre on Utøya. Only a few which sits on the top of my mind at this moment. There are more disasters than there are minutes, and most of them because of one human error. But if you really think about it, should man really dabble with what is undoubtedly part of the human evolution? What drives us forward as a species? No. The answer probably lies somewhere in the region of greediness for me as well. Back in time, to beat the best players in the world with tactics in games not yet utilized, and become a Legend.
I hear my grandfather was pretty good at the violin and the accordian. I never really knew him at all and when I did, he was too old to really play instruments anymore. If I could go back in time, I would go to when he was in his prime so I could listen to him and meet him properly.
Go back to maybe 10 years before Shakespeare was born, write all of his plays before he gets a chance, and be known as the greatest writer in the English language.
I wouldn't go back in time to prevent some major event of (tragic) history from happening. Who would believe me anyway - I'd just be some weirdo rambling about the future and unforeseen consequences (also, I'd probably not speak the language as most people would do, I'd lack money etc.).
What I would do, however, would be the following:
There's only been a single case where I've seriously been sad that I've been born "too late" - I'm too young to ever have seen Queen with Freddie Mercury play live. Queen have been one of the most influential bands of my life music-wise, I've listened to a lot of CDs and records from my parents' collection and I've always loved their work. However, as I was only six years old when Freddie died, there was no chance to ever go to a Queen concert.
So I'd enter my time machine and set it to the 13th of July 1985 to be at Wembley Stadium for this:
Queen at Live Aid. The set only lasted about 20 minutes but it's simply incredible. Probably their best live performance ever.
(Ironically, that concert happens around one month after my birthday, but since I'm a child of former East Germany, I wouldn't have a chance to take a peek at my former self.)
For the slim chance that I wouldn't get enough of Queen there, I'd probably just stay, follow them around for their next big tour (It's a Kind of Magic) and then, a few years later, witness the fall of the Berlin Wall; another thing I'd have love to have experienced in person but couldn't due to my age.
I would wait for you to pick the winning response, then go back in time and steal that response for myself. Just kidding, I'd murder my past self and see what happens. Waiting for the random pick win.
If I know of the capacity of time travel and could sit on it, I'd spend the next 20-40 years accumulating facts and knowledge, acquire a multitude of skills and abilities, then travel back to tutor myself with all the basic facts about the future and place myself to reshape the world.
If I didn't have a choice on when, and had to leave now, I'd probably attempt the same on a much more limited scale, traveling back to when I was ten or so and setting up my friends and family nicely, perhaps aiding corporations or individuals I feel would help the world, i.e. world hunger, disease, technology/quality of living divide, so on.
I would travel back in time to when Jesus was around and then just constantly troll him by predicting what he was going to do next. I would then be the Jesus!
There are many things, that happened in the past that are mysterious and would be great to know, how it really happened, i.e. Was there really a Jesus? Did the pyramids have an "alternate" meaning (besides being a tomb)? Were the Americans really on the moon? ... But on the other side: Even if I would know the truth... who would believe me? There are too many crazy thoughts out there, I will just be another one of those! ... So, let's just travel back in time to exact this moment and tell myself what I should write to win this contest! So I get something real out of it!
I'd travel around a 1000 years into the future, i want to see what technology would be like then and how far we would have advanced if we were still around ofcourse.
I would go back in time to Gsl #1 with all the now known builds, and the Vods of their play I feel like I could destroy so many pros with my 90apm ... thats right over all of history: WW2 - no, JFK shooting - no, the building of the pyramids - no. I would throw my hat in the ring and try and win a gsl!
If I could go back to anytime in history.. I would probably go back to 2003 and relive 7th grade-present.
I would take school more seriously and actually do my homework. I would refrain from dumping my ex-girlfriend. I would take high school sports more seriously. I would play/watch more Brood War. I would take SC2 more seriously from Beta-now and either compete, or get on the casting before Husky/HD/TotalGarbage. Would marry the girl i dumped in the 9th grade over a bet. (someone told me i couldnt get a different girl... who i dated for 6 years after girl 1) Warn my parents about the recession, and get money out of stocks. Somehow prevent the death of my sister in-law's sister who died from choking to death. Go away for college, and refrain from going somewhere local. Bet every dime i had on the Giants to beat the Patriots head-up in the 2008 Super Bowl (would have gotten GREAT odds in a straight up bet, especially if I went to vegas and bet before the season started, for the giants to win the superbowl...wooooo)
O and i would get to relive some of my best firsts. Like romantic/sexual first. First time driving. First time living away from home. First days of school/sports. First love. First fight.
Would be fun.
But o well, things are the way they are for a reason i guess. Life goes on.
(I would LOVE to go back to a historically significant event/period -maybe stop Abe Lincolns assassination or something similar- but frankly I am scared of causing a rippling affect that would cause me to never be born. So I thought it would be a better idea to go back to a time after I was already in existance, so I couldn't screw things up too bad.)
I'd travel to the time of the first human beings and teach them some basic stuff that they'll spend years to invent (wheel, writing, agriculture, etc.). And, hopefully, I'd come back to a much advanced and civilized present.
There are so many past events that I would like to have witnessed real-time. I wouldn't time-travel to change things in the past. I guess I'd go back to hear J.S. Bach perform his own music live, to see a play by Shakespeare when he was there, and to have a discussing with the great Greek philosophers. I'm also quite curious how the pyramids were actually built, so I think I'd have a look at that as well!
I'd travel to the year where the bible was created and change everywhere where Jesus is referenced to my name, and write something vague about a second coming in the year 2011, then travel to the year where the Koran was created and change Allah to my name and also tell about a second coming, then when I travel back to this time I'll do it in a public place so everyone will wonder at the second coming of their savior then I've effectively created world peace as everyone will worship the same god; Me
I'd travel to meet my younger self and impart information that would make me rich and powerful.
But according to the Novikov self-consistency principle, it's impossible to alter the past as it would create paradoxes. If I later build a time machine and use it to meet my younger self, I would already remember my older self having visited me.
Being able to alter the past would mean having access to alternate timelines, and that is stepping into a godly dimension that invalidifies the values of man. I would then find I already exist in every possible conformation, and any attempt to change myself would be meaningless.
90% of the time, fiction screws up time travel. But I'd give the game a try anyway for entertainment.
why are people travelling backwards in time!?!? I would travel forward in time to Tuesday, Sep 06 9:00am PDT when i would open my PM box for the retail keys to this game.
I would travel back to the Day[9]'s King of the Beta tournament and win it knowing all I know now ! :D That would set my SC2 career straight up the sky
I would wait until Daylight Saving Time had just started in the spring, and then I would go back in time an hour so I could actually get some decent sleep.
I would like to travel back in time to my own birth. I would then stop my own birth from happening. Just to see what happens when you trigger a paradox. All in the name of science.
If I could travel to any point in time I would travel back to 1 second before i took a dump, so i can feel how good it feels instead of waiting for my next one.
I would time travel to the 1000's and "discover" America, the natives will call me a god and I will tell them all the horrible things that will happen in the future, I will then tell them to build some kind of spaceship (because why not?) to the moon where we will colonize the stars and then THE UNIVERSE!
I’d go back a few months ago, buy a ticket to wherever TLO was staying and tell him to rest his wrists. RSI is bad enough, but when you play for a living... >_<
I would go back to before MLG Columbus and become Idra's personal motivator so when he was ahead against MMA and was about to type GG he'd look up out of his booth and see my disappointing glare directly at him and he'd be scared to stay in the game and win.
I'd travel back to sixth grade and all the years I spent playing Diablo 2, I'd spend playing Brood War instead.
Aside from that, I'd do everything else pretty well the same. I like how my life turned out... I don't necessarily like some of the choices I made, but they made me who I am today.
If i could travel back in time first I would take out a massive bank loan before I time travel, go back 30 years or so, put in bank account, travel back into present time, take out the money in the bank account that will have made a lot of interest, payback my loan and I would be rich
Travel to the point where the human civilization is about to come to an end. I have always been curious if we will ever hit that point in the future: the Earth have limited resources, and we are rapidly consuming more and more of it every single day without much thought about an "infinite future". Will the human race be wiped out because of war? Because of a new ice age? Because we overheated the planet and destroyed the ecosystem? Because the sun is fated to expand? Or will we invoke the wrath of an alien civilization which comes down to our world(s) and conquer us?
How will the human race act at hours of desperation? Will there be programs for painless suicides? Will we degrade into chaotic animals, or finally put aside our differences and face the inevitable fate together? Will my arrival: a man from the distant past, be able to change the fate of humanity?
I would go in September 1972 to be able to see the Hockey series between Canada and Soviet Russia.
That was just the best hockey series you will ever have. My father always tell me that, when he was young, during the series, his school just stop everything and all the students/profs/etc. was going to the gym to watch the game.
The series was so intense, when to the last game and to be able to see the rivalry grow up would be epic !!
- I would like to go back far far away to the past to the moment where some suits sat in a nice office and all agreed that they would control the world with something called religion...
I would go back to the Mayan days and see if the Doomsday calender were just a unfinished calender rather than a timing to our deaths.
If I could I would go back to when I was a child but with my knowledge, mind and sense I have right now. Man, I could get away with so many things and have great results in school.
If I could travel in time I would observe the great things in history that have shaped the world as it is today. To see wether the truth have been told or if the winners of war and destruction have been writing down the way as they would want it to be. The discovery would probably be mindblowing but imagine if it would be possible to do this, perhaps history is the future?
I would go back to Pompeii to see if it really was The Doctor who caused it. If not, I'd save the people of the city by whatever means necessary so that I could see if there are any major changes today because of those several thousand people saved a long time ago.
I would first make a pact with my self to get a sexchange 10 years from now. Then I would travel 10,5 year forward in time, then have sex with my self and begin the creation of my personal Clone Army (with sticks).
But on a more serious note: Travel back in time and smack the guy who thought World of Warcraft was a good idea and would contribute to Warcraft Lore... FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU
I would travel to the point where the winner to the competition was announced, then back in time to post the winning entry. At least this way I am guaranteed to win.
I would look up the winning lotto numbers and travel back a few days, take a big loan and bet everything on that number and live the rest of my life in riches. It would be nice to travel far back, but since starcraft wasn't invented and the technology sucked AND you don't know if you can take yourself back to current time. I don't think that would be very fun. Also if I only travel back a few days. I will anyway not prevent myself from being born
I can't think of a "fun" reason to go back in time for , so if I would have the power to do so once , I would probably try to go back and stop some type of injustice which happened and no one did anything to stop or such :-)
i would go back in time to the music awards ceremony and interupt kanye west interupting taylor swift itd then become a movie, INTERUPTION, an interupt in an interupt.
I would travel to the time of the Romans and enroll in the gladiators arena. When asked what weapon i wanted before i died, I would ask only for a short dagger. Upon entering, i would size my opponent up, allow him to get close, then show him the light on my keychain. as he was bewitched by my small glowing orb containing all that ever was or will be, i would gut him with my dagger. My accomplishments would be LEGENDARY.
I'd travel back to either the Islamic era or the Classical Greek one, either of which would be fine in order to speak and learn about new cultures, discover new things in both history and mathematics, as well as just experience the lives of those people since they fascinate me, and I'm only 17 so life experience might be a little lacking from me anyway.
I would get the German movie, "Downfall", and take it back in time with me on my Ipad. There I would find Hitler when he was about 20, and show him the movie.
I have seen way too much science fiction to go and try to interfere with any major historic events. Actually, i would probably avoid them completely just to avoid to get emotionally involved especially since "major historic event" usually involves a lot of people dying, but changing them is still way to risky. So, after having decided that trying to change the past is probably not a smart idea, that leaves only either past tourism, or going to the future.
I am really torn between getting a sneak peak at the future, and seeing dinosaurs. Historical tourism probably just sets you up for a disappointment, because we see these historic persons as pretty superhuman, while they probably only are pretty stinky guys who made some good decisions.
I assume that i only get one visit somewhere. And while dinosaurs are neat, i would probably choose the future, just because i can still profit from having been to the future for the rest of my life (unless i notice that it sucks, which would be pretty bad, and launch me into the whole usual Terminator problem.) But if it sucks, that would still be pretty useful information to know. And if it doesn't, i get to steal futuretech and become filthy rich here. Not to mention that if the future is cooler i could stay there, while i probably would not want to stay somewhere full of dinosaurs. So my choice would be about 100 years in the future. I can not go into more detail regarding what i would do then, because it depends on what i happen to find.
I would go back in time 10 years and give advice to the 12-year old me. On how to focus on the important, how to better manage social situations and stand up for yourself, and to timetravel into a nicer place instead when that time comes. And some sports info to make good bets and win with.
I would go back in time to 1998 and move to South Korea. Imagine reliving the rise of the greatest eSports scene in the world. Imagine being able to attend every single one of those amazing games and finals, in person. Imagine watching Boxer bunker rush Yellow thrice, imagine watching Saviour vs Nada OSL finals, Imagine watching Bisu crush Saviour 3-0 in the MSL finals. Watching those amazing games in person, watching eSports on stages as big as the largest sports events, that would be amazing.
Alternatively, I would go back to the 1700s just for one reason: I would be able to attend the premieres of the works of Mozart, with the man himself attending. That would be amazing.
Or, I would go back and shoot Mao right before he took the initiative for The Great Leap Forward, also known as the worst governmental decision ever made, causing hunger and cannibalism on a scale unheard of for the last century.
I would travel back in time to cure Mozart. He died at only 35, halfway through writing his Requiem, in my opinion, the greatest musical work of all time. Though his work was later finished by his prodigé Sussmeyer, we will never truly know how Mozart would have completed this most hauntingly gorgeous work.
I would go back in time to time to a ancient greek times and take part in battle standing side by side with 300 Spartans and die proudly and know i will be remembered for the rest of time.
But what would really happen it's that i would chicken out and come back to my daily job :D
i would make a list of tragedies of the last years and after travelling back in time i try to prevend as many of them as i can. also i would make a list of lottery numbers.
i would travel to the future and slap myself for not posting/applying, and that future slap is ringing so hard it echoed through the past to the current present time, where i am nursing my cheek and posting!
I wouldnt even consider going back in time, because fixing something or changing it could result in worse things. I would probably go to 1st July 2012, because there will probably already be Diablo III and I would have 2 months free of playing it, haha!
I would travel forward 10 years and see the major stock moves and unexpected happenings, then use that knowledge in the present to build my fortune. I think after reading 40k novels since I was 12 I certainly would go into the future 100 years at a time till I discovered if there really were gods and other races etc out there.
I'd travel to 1895, to meet H.G Wells when he just finished writing "The Time Machine" and to give him an aneuvrism. A close second would be coming back to the time Stephen Hawking asked "if time travel existed, where are the time travelers?", just in front of him. There would be the benefit of knowing what happened in the next years (as it's quite recent compared to 1895 :p) but 1895 has the benefit of having no computer to speak of yet and I could live and study long enough to work on the first turing machines
I think I would go to the initial alpha testing period for the game so I could get involved when Achron was just a baby. This way, I could know how the game plays and all the anagrams used in the videos so I would actually understand the game I will be playing in the future (which, of course, I would have gone forward to view because I can travel through time)
Take a copy of FFXIII and go back to when they started developing it and smack them across the face with that copy. Then go on a GTA style rampage (Tank cheats included) and then poof back to today to see that I've changed the world line and now Akihabara is messed up world peace has been attained...
I would wait until the winner is announced, copy his post in this thread and then travel back in time to posttime -5min and win the competition and then I would still lose against me of the past who entered the competition 5min earlier!
Oh well, i would take some really good notes of events like lottery numbers, stockmarket development and some other good stuff for getting easy money because of the knowledge and travel a few years back in time, ....and THEN i would take over the world (in a totally "normal" and non-perverse way of course without the killing millions and stuff)
I would travel to a time closer to the end of the Roman Empire and try to prevent all the technology and knowledge from being lost. Imagine how advanced we could be if we didn't lose their knowledge (which put us into the Dark Ages)! Another time I would go to is back when I was in high school to tell myself to do my homework and not play MMO's all day :D
I would travel back to 1999, when I started playing StarCraft. So that I would take playing SC:BW more seriously and thus would've been in the GSL playing StarCraft 2 once SC2 came out.
Hmm, i naturally should travel to dos omething significant in time. However i am just tooo curious to actually and if my time machine can fly, honestly i would try to travel into the past. I was always fascinated by Dinosaurs, so i would try to travel to a time where there we're a lot of awesome dinosaurs, around 80 million years before our time. The one restriction i have to make is that i would only travel there, if the time machine lets me fly. Otherwise i would travel into the 19th century and become a scientist. Not only would i become the most famous person of all time, also i would contribute to the advancement of humanity(electricity, biological principles like bacteria and infections etc.)
I would travel to Sep 06 6:00pm CEST (GMT+02:00). Then I would look which comments won. After im back in the past im gonna post that exact comment before the other person wrote it.
I would probably go forward a few hundred years. If we haven't killed ourselves off by then it'd be awesome to find out how we avoided it and technology would likely be so incredible i'd go crazy with excitement. If we have killed ourselves off, or at least most of us off, then i'd spend the rest of my life trying to fix everything.
I would travel back to the Wed, June 4 1997. I would then play the winning Lotto 649 numbers on June 4th, June 7, June 11, June 14, and June 18. With five consecutive lottery wins, my name would make headlines. I would then use the proceeds from the lottery to short oil stock right before the 1997 Asian financial crisis. Mid-july, I would cash out of my position up a cool $50 million.
With this cash in hand, I would then purchase 25% of Activison's outstanding shares. (15,613,802 at $13.88/share) Using my notoriety and influence in Activision, I would correct everything the company did wrong in publishing NetStorm: Islands At War. I would deliver the current user-improved patches to Titanic Entertainment. I would move the release date so that it didn't coincide with Age of Empires. I would keep the multiplayer servers up and running so the game could thrive.
Using "future" BW videos and articles as an example, I would show everyone how profitable a successful RTS could be. I would acquire Blizzard years before reality and create the masterpiece titles long before their time.
I would be able to play NetStorm and Diablo 3 today.
That one time when I got mugged by a bunch of assholes and got my ass kicked. Well I would take that time travel opportunity to travel back in time and space to that night and help myself out in the fight so we're two against them. We'd still probably get our ass kicked so we'd lick our wounds, then pump iron and get buffed. And wait until I get that opportunity to time travel again. Now we both go back, but this time there's four of 'me' with two of us buffed. Now we are speaking business, kick the muggers ass, go for a celebration beer. The four of us buy a foosball table and play hard and get pro! I love foosball. Also no more foreveralone.jpg
I would go 1 year BC with a good Special effects crew, pretend I was god and make some reasonable changes to bible, and rewrite the 10 mandaments with "the 8 I'd really rather you didn'ts"
1. I'd Really Rather You Didn't Act Like A Sanctimonious Holier-Than-Thou Ass When Describing My Noodly Goodness. If Some People Don't Believe In Me, That's Okay. Really, I'm Not That Vain. Besides, This Isn't About Them So Don't Change The Subject.
2.I 'd Really Rather You Didn't Use My Existence As A Means To Oppress, Subjigate, Punish, Eviscerate, And/Or, You Know, Be Mean To Others. I Dont Require Sacrifices, And Purity Is For Drinking Water, Not People.
3. I'd Really Rather You Didn't Judge People For The Way They Look, Or How They Dress, Or The Way They Talk, Or, Well, Just Play Nice, Okay? Oh, And Get This Through You Thick Heads: Woman=Person, Man=Person. Samey-Samey. One is Not Better Than The Other, Unless We're Talking About Fashion And I'm Sorry, But I Gave That To Women And Some Guys Who Know The Difference Between Teal And Fuchsia.
4. I'd Really Rather You Didn't Indulge In Conduct That Offends Yourself, Or Your Willing, Consenting Partner Of Legal Age AND Mental Maturity. As For Anyone Who Might Object, I Think The Expression Is Go F*** Yourself, Unless They Find That Offensive In Which Case They Can Turn Off The TV For Once And Go For A Walk For A Change.
5. I'd Really Rather You Didn't Build MultiMillion-Dollar Churches/Temples/Mosques/ Shrines To My Noodly Goodness When The Money Could Be Better Spent (Take Your Pick): A. Ending Poverty B. Curing Diseases C. Living In Peace, Loving With Passion, And Lowering The Cost Of Cable. I Might Be A Complex Carbohydrate Omniscient Being, But I Enjoy The Simple Things In Life. I Ought To Know. I AM The Creator.
6. I'd Really Rather You Didn't Go around Telling People I Talk To you. You're Not That Interesting. Get Over Yourself. And I Told You To Love Your Fellow Man, Can't You Take A Hint?
7. I'd Really Rather You Didn't Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You If You Are Into, Um, Stuff That Uses Alot Of Leather/Lubrication/Las Vegas. If The Other Person Is Into It However (Pursuant To #4), Then Have At It, Take Pictures, And For The Love Of Mike, Wear A CONDOM! Honestly It's A Piece Of Rubber, If I Didn't Want It To Feel Good When You Did It I Would Have Added Spikes, Or Something.
8. I'd Really Rather You Didn't Challenge The Bigoted, Misogynist, Hateful Ideas Of Others On An Empty Stomach. Eat, Then Go After The B*******.
First things first, Go back to when they defined the electron as negative and kick those people in the shin. The trouble they have caused countless generations of engineers is worth building a time machine, just to go back and kick them in the shin.
If I can travel to any point in time and life, I would actually travel into back 20 years, on the 90s when we had good music, cartoons, economy, and good standard of life and start my life anew with the intensive knowledge of how the world will be 20 years after.
I'll use that knowledge to have many things to my advantage such as improving my own standard of living, becoming a progamer as I already know the modernized builds ahead of time, become a big shot celebrity of all sorts as I'll have the knowledge to be ahead of everyone and have that much higher chance than everyone else, and lastly, I will help and improve my "self" that exist in the current time to live his life in the best way possible with no regrets (as I have many regrets). Once all that is accomplish, I'll then tell the world and the government to prevent this stupid depression/recession economy in the first place.
If I'm lucky I could travel around Europe and listen to the likes of Vivaldi, Bach, Handel and Haydn. And if I manage to survive another 30 odd years I'll also find Mozart, and another 20 to 30 years from then, Beethoven, Weber, Wagner, Strauss, Mendelssohn, Chopin, Liszt, Schubert, Schumann and Verdi. It was an amazing time for music.
That's if I don't die by those ridiculous diseases, get hit by a bucket of shit thrown out a window, or run over by a really bad carriage driver. It'd still be worth it though.
I don't want to immortalize myself by time travelling and doing something epic because it's a cheap way to do it. I'd want to do it because I was being myself through my own strengths and actions. Anyone with a time machine could save Lincoln and make a name for themselves or do something similar.
If I could travel anywhere in time, I would go back in time to find my grandfather before he gave birth to my mom to see if the grandfather paradox exists.
If I could travel through time I would like to be part of a crusade. I'm very interested in politics and I would love to see how faith drove people 900-800 years ago! Seeing with my own eyes how a civilization can differ so much from ours but yet still be quite similar, I'd love to! And else, I'd like to go to the Golden Ages, having a high role in the EIC (VOC, in Dutch). These HUGE companies that pretty much ruled the world are sooo interesting. I would also love to be a part of that.
I would travel back in time and live in africa side by side with my dad because i think he is a spectacular human being and he deserve so much more than what he had back then and even what he has right now. he might be considered rich by african standards but most of that money he spends to get his siblings through school aswell as my half sister. i love my dad thats why i should win :3 that sounded wrong though
I would travel far, far back in time. I'd do something that Rousseau would have me do. This is mostly taken from his writing on the origin on inequality.
I would go back in time, far into the depths of prehistory, to the basest root of our civilization. I will find the first man who, having enclosed a piece of ground, bethought himself of saying "This is mine", and found people simple enough to believe him, the real founder of civil society. I would save mankind from countless crimes, wars and murders, countless horrors and misfortunes by pulling up the stacks, or filling up the ditch, and crying to these early humans, "Beware of listening to this impostor; you are undone if you once forget that the fruits of the earth belong to us all, and the earth itself to nobody."
If I could go back in time I would go back to the point where my little brother was playing with the dogs while I was working in the house. That day he came inside to eat but forgot to bring the dogs, therefore they were outside and unleashed. Hours later when it started raining I asked him how the dogs were. That was when his eyes grew big and realized that he had forgotten to bring them in.
I searched outside in the rain on foot around the entire neighborhood for 3 hours. The dogs were never found. One of the saddest moments in my life.
Am I stuck wherever I time travel to? I'd very much like to raise a baby dinosaur pet, one of the smaller herbivores so that even if the plan backfires it lives it's life harmlessly in the woods, not preying upon neighborhood folk.
If I could travel through time, I'd head on back to Israel in 18 A.D., bring Jesus to our modern age, and see if he could post on any given internet forum regularly without calling someone a retard or similar every once in a while.
I would travel back in time to the 70's. I mean who doesn't love the 70's? I would probably be a hippy while taking advantage of my future knowledge to earn money.
I'd like to travel back to the 1700's and talk with Euler about all the advances in modern mathematics. I'm sure he'd have some interesting things to say after getting over the initial shock I'd probably need a babel fish though
i will have a book containing basics of all scientific fields like chemistry, physics, anatomy, math and whatnot, including language, philosophy, psychology, religion, etc. and teach the people. i'll also take with me some modern weapons and almost infinite ammo.
with mutual communication, respect and understanding, civilizations will progress with the goal of prosperity and advancement in technology. without the need of war and conflicting opinions enough to create war.
however, i'd probably do this by making it seems like i'm god so that my ideas will be spread without question. then i'll die, or die trying.
Right now if i could Travel anywhere, it would probably be in about 8 months from now. Maybe a bit less but right at the climax of my senior year. All the dances activities and I'll be making plans to move out getting a car and rooming with a buddy of mine back in the city i loved. This is where I'd like to go right now and live my life then. But for now, I must wait ;_;
I'd probably travel back somewhere between 429–347 B.C.E. to ancient Greece (this around the time of Plato and Socrates, I think), and find one of the universities so that I could preach all of the modern day knowledge we now know to be true. I'd write books like Plato did, only mine would be much more renown for obvious reasons. Imagine being more well known throughout all of history than Plato, Socrates, Einstein, you name it. Shit that would be awesome.
Hey, you didn't say I couldn't go back in time more than once. ;D
I'd go back in time, and meet each past generation of my family, just to see first hand where I came from, how the did and what they became.
I'd probably have a look around places that I see often or remember well, where my first house was, how my school used to look.
I'd also do something fucking cool, like meet my girlfriend as a kid, and give her something, so that in the future, she's mindfucked when it turns out to be me. Unless some butterfly effect crap ruins it. I'd probably have to test it.
Oh and I'd win a season of the liquibets by going back in time, then I'd have everyones respect as a total baller ESPORTS watcher.
I would travel to the medieval ages because I am very fascinated by that time period. I think the government, Laws, torture, and the weapons were all fascinating, also bringing my modern day knowledge to the middle ages would be pretty cool, and make me famous! :D
Also, it would be amazing to witness some of the old fashion ways of living, good or bad it would be very interesting. I have studied the middle ages for a while, and if I had any opportunity to go to that time period I would not hesitate.
Some of my favourite personalities are from the medieval ages, and witnessing what they do in the battles, ruling they're empires and there average day life would be a dream of mine, and meeting them would be even better! It would probably be similar to a little girl meeting Justin Beiber, haha.
Finally, I could help save people from the many diseases, there for allowing our time period to be more advanced.
If I would win this game it would be amazing and I would probably play it as much as I do sc2 (8 hours a day on weekends/summer. That is a reason why you should pick me!
I would travel when starcraft 1 just got out, and after that practice a lot with all my knowledge and maybe try to take out korea as main country of e-sports and bring it to europe. Also i would enjoy the progamer life
I would travel to china during the time period of the Three Kingdoms. I would have loved to see what actually went on in those that are now mythical battles, witness the birth of grand strategy and be part of one of the greatest strategic periods of all time. To see a world competently different and essentially unimaginable from our standpoint today.
I would Travel to 1920 and Have a very long and series of Dialogues with HP lovecraft. I love his way of thinking and the stories he created. I would tell him about the future and try to imagine all the wonder and horror that came from his stories and see the places as they stood in the 20s that inspired him.
I would travel to the future when you present the winner of this giveaway. I would memorize the winner's reply. Comeback to the present and post the winner's reply before the actual winner posts his witty reply, granting me the game.
I would travel back to a time when beauty enveloped the earth. A time when machines had not fogged the skyline; ravaged the wild, green, lush forests; or littered the clean soil with waste. I want to be able to gaze into the night sky and see the endlessness of space, the milky clustering of stars streaming light across the void. I want to fill my lungs with air that no one has ever breathed: pure, pristine air that flows through my lungs as naturally as blood flows through my veins. I want to walk the shores of an undiscovered beach, my footprints washed away in the seamless sand, hearing nothing but the push and pull of the ocean and smelling nothing but the salt of the sea. I want to explore the unknown, see the unseen, and live the unlived. I want to never feel the stress of time gripping my chest or the pressure of societal obligations. And when I realize that I must return home, to my time, I want to dream of the impossible, an escape from the inevitable, a time when beauty enveloped the earth.
Go into the future where timetravel was available form then become an assasin and kill every bad music artist in the world that had ever existed. I would begin from year 2006 i think... So this day somebody like [insert bad artist name here] would not exist and killer would remain unknown. Finally doing something big for humanity, aww yeah Also I would become Armin van Buuren's best firend so I could be on every one of his concert Meet few of my favorite drawers and.. uhmmm holy... so many thing that i could have done :O
I would go forward in time when advanced technology like teleportation and cell regeneration is possible, and bring the technology back in time so that we would be ahead in technology by hundreds of years. I would also find my tombstone after all the years and find out if i still have any relatives alive. (Assuming all my family thought i was dead when i travelled in time.)
i'm pretty sure i wouldn't travel myself, i'd send an assassin to 1984 to kill George Lucas before things get out of control, wouldn't make me famous or anything but it's the right thing to do, and that's good enough.
I think I would love to travel back to when my Grandparents were born (1930s ish) just to see what they went through, then what my parents went through and how my life is so much easier and different than theirs was.
I would travel as far back in time as possible to figure out how everything REALLY started. Too bad I wouldn't be able to tell everyone else, but at least my own curiosity is fulfilled.
I would go back in time.... before September 11th... make sure I'm on the first plane and stop the terrorists from killing innocent people... thus stopping the war in Afghanistan... Iraq... etc etc...
I haven't figured out how to deal with the second plane I guess could just call a bomb threat on both of them... or just alert the government to their presence....
I would go back to 60s and join the hippy movement. I would go to goa and live in harmony with the land and enjoy the blisses of life such as friendship, love and all kinds of art.
I would go back to before the invention of the power drill, when the land my house is built on was still forest, and finally get some good sleep without that daily 7am wake up call.
Assuming that timeline is a straight line and not a thing of wibbly-wobbly itzy-bitzy stuff(Dr. Who), I would travel either at the expected death of the sun(5/7 bln. years) just to witness such grandiose event. On the other hand, I will go some 500-800 years in the future to see if we have become an interplanetary civilization or are still shackled in the grip of our own ignorance!
I would go back to when I was in elementary school. (grade 1) Waking up early on every saturday morning and watching cartoons. and shouting and going "I am the HEE MANN !" running around the house.
I would go back to before A Dance With Dragons was released. I would quickly then spoil anything important about it over the internet, effectively becoming more hated than Bobby Kotick.
I would go back and kill Hitler, and put as many spelling erros in his autobiography so the book gets rejected as a literary work. ( Assuming I spawn in his bedroom, otherwise i'm fucked)
I would either be a draftee around 1968 and enter the Vietnam war in the height of the combat operations, or be one of the last people evacuated from Saigon on April 27, 1975. Another one would be a prisoner at Auschwitz II-Birkenau (extermination camp) or Auschwitz III-Monowitz (work camp).
For some reason part of me would like to experience what any of the men in those situations experienced.
I would travel to the future, in hope that there's a time machine, and then bring back all the medicine which would cure aids, malaria, tuberculosis etc.
I would go to the future and play Starcraft, in real life... I would control the Zerg overmind and wreak havoc to the Terran and Protoss race with infestors!
First I would purchase a fluffy cat to stroke. Then I would travel back in time to ensure that games workshop puts the warhammer name onto craft titles just to keep everyones favorite franchise from ever happening. Then I would stroke the cat. During and after all that hard workI would proceed to invest into google and enjoy my time listening to the hits of the 90s, see kurts funeral for himself, and punch john romero in the face until Daikatana is made properly. And if there is still time I would make a movement for Clinton to become King of America just so SNL would continue to have good material. *Cue evil laughter*
Well if I could come back in time I would go 100 years into the future and memorize history. I would then come back and take over the world because I can tell the future.
I would take a video camera, go back to the industrial age then record them and say I was stealing their souls. I would them enslave them and wear a funny hat while ruling them under an iron fist.
If I could travel to any point in time, I'll go 40 years in the future, where I'm gonna find the old-myself, he'll teach me everything about my life, and how I can prevent failures and stuff. Then I'll come back with the insane knowledge of knowing everything that's gonna happen to me and in history.
I would time travel back to November 5th 1955 and help Marty McFly get back to 1985. The resulting movie would have a plot similar to the first half of Pride and Prejudice with the second half of The Dark Knight, then the second half of Pride and Prejudice, and finally the entirety of Demolition Man.
In the spirit of the game, i would wait for the winning answer, then i would go back in time and use the winning answer in my post. Other people would also think of this and change their answer to the winning answer, so wait until everybody has used up their chronoenergy and post a different kick ass reason why i should win this, and because there are hundreds of similir post and my post would be the only different kick ass post i would win this easily. KACHINGGGG!

Would you let Taco Bell be the classiest restaurant on earth? Would you?
I would travel to the deep distant futue where scientific discoveries have made the world a much better place. From there I will take power and use science to rule my minions of the future until I am eventually overthrown.
I would go to the year 1 BCE and kill Jesus, if he were there (which he's not loool) and become the new Messiah and eventually RULE THE WORLD!
It's a great question to ponder.. go back and find out how it really happened? Or go foward and find out what does happen... I think I'd go foward.. I want to see some star trek shit.
Maybe this instead... lol

I assume this includes returning to the present again. I would travel to 2012 and note every major game outcome, return home and become a professional gambler.
If i could travel anywhere in time i would travel to the 50s or 60s, So that i could witness the rise of all of the great musicians that ruled during that era.
Black sabbath. Metallica, Pearl jam, neil young to name a few.
I feel that i am totally growing up in the wrong time if you look at it as music-wise.
Well, i could of course travel to the future in hopes of there beeing an advanced human society, but really there is absolutely no certainty that it would be there. And since you didnt say weither or not there is a way back i might then be stuck in a (possibly devastated) deserted world, as the only human beeing alive. Although that does bear a certain appeal, i have already experienced life in areas completely devoid of human population, and its nothing that i would want for the rest of my life.
So what is left is travel to the past, where i really just have to pick a destination. No matter where i go, alterations to the present are certain to occur, even if i would try to limit them. Looking at history and how many major historic events had the tiniest coincidence as a catalyst, makes me certain of that. Unless of course i would just do one of those "get the lottery numbers"- thing which wouldn't have too big of an influence on the present, but that really feels kinda unworthy of such a magnificent chance.
Because of that iam just going to go for all out influence right away. I would take as many history and science books as i can carry (i could go with a laptop/electronic device and some solar panels/a dynamo as power supply, but then once a component fails i would be unable to repair it, so its books) and travel to the very beginnigs of human civilisation, specificly to the first more or less major settlements. (But where no organised religions yet existed) There i would immedeately stand out because of my height (people were smaller back then) which would give me the first bit of attention i need. Then i would start looking for open minded people and start teaching them about the laws of nature (as a physicist i'd be able to do a lot of that even wihtout those books) and generally natural sciences. But with everything i teach them i would also teach them about what that knowledge has brought on before in history so they can at least try to avoid doing the same mistakes. (This is what i need those history books for) Of course i would not immedeately tell them "Im from the future" but rather, that iam a scholar from far away (which really is kinda true, just more in a sense of temporal rather than areal distance). The truth would eventually come up after a few decades i suppose. After my natural lifespan, by this i might have stared a truely enlightened civilisation based on education rather than conquest and supression, which would still be easily able to defend itself thanks to its way higher level of development. Untill after a few hundred generations the entirety of humans has become enlightened that is. Also this new civilisation would have a purpose (do better than those before you) without the need for a deity to give them one and when in doubt they could always take a look at those (hopefully copied since they would obviously fall apart after a few hundred years) old history books i brought along, to see how a decision might play out.
This to me was the start of my love of all things music and to be able to be right in the heart of this underground movement would have been amazing. you had bands like Talking heads, blondie, and patti smith. tearing the scene apart and it would have been something special to be there. I have been to cbgbs many times seen some great acts there, hell I even played there once. but nothing compared to what could have been. music just isnt the same anymore as it was back then.
Dont get me wrong there are still people making good music, but not GREAT music. todays music and maybe im getting old lacks a lot of passion (much like tasteless ) to me anyways. its hard finding new albums latley that really speak to you and are not just bubblegum pop/metal/rock. I was born in the wrong time for music.
I'll go back to the time when I was in highschool. When I see my "younger" self I'll say to him: "No matter what happens don't ever date her!! She's a psycho and will hunt you forever!!".
I would go back to 2004, lose weight like a madman, and try to get that girl I was madly in love with all during my high school education, but couldn't open up due to embarrasment of myself and being shy. I would give up anything I have right now for this to come true, but sadly, laws of physics are set in stone and don't change.
I have two destinations for where I'd travel, both in the future:
1: A time where humans have discovered a way to modify their body to such an extent that they can live for all intents and purposes forever. An age where augmentations to the body are possible to upgrade certain features of yourself by downloading software into a biochip implant. That way there is almost no limit to what you can do, or pass your time doing. You would simply never be bored.
2: A time where humans have learned the secret of travelling to other solar systems or galaxies in the universe. And at the same token, relocate humanity and truly spread among the stars. Very possibly meeting other races with knowledge far beyond anything we ever invented, and even those races that have been visiting earth for thousands of years, but not making contact because they deemed our race too primitive.
Go back to 312 A.C in the Battle of Milvian Bridge and make Constantine to reconsider transform Rome into the Christianity, and save millions of lives in all of those wars claiming that his religions was the real and unique.
I hope that my idea was legible, because i'm still practicing my english
I would never travel very far into the past. All the terrible events has had to a timeline where I exist, altering too much could change that. With that said I'd go back about 10 years and teach myself the refined SC builds progamers use today as well as the true meaning of macro. I would then proceed to make it to the OSL finals and lose three times in a row to bunker rushes.
I would travel back to the time that I bought World of Warcraft. And not buy it. That game took 4 years of my life. I was addicted to it sh hard that I wouldn't leave my room for days. I managed to play 365 days of play time in 3 years of real time. (Actual play time... not i played 365 days for an hour i played 365 days like full 24 hour days). I wouldn't quit I wanted to be the best. Every expansion I would stay awake for days on end to get realm first... sadly I did that.... I would always grind out anything I wanted in the game and get it. It was disgusting what lengths I went to. I stopped talking to most of my friends unless they played the game..... My High School nickname was "The WoW Kid". And people did call me that........ Even teachers.....
This game ruined my life. I have trouble talking to anyone. Ever since I quit I desire to play it more even though I don't want to. It is truly like a drug. One day my sister was in her woman's study class and this conversation happened:
Girl: "Yeah... my brother never leaves his room ever." Sister: "Oh is your brother a world of warcraft player too?" Girl: "No. He is a Heroine addict." Sister: "Oh...."
So if I could go back in time and do something it would be explaining myself to stay the fuck away from all MMOs.....
I think I would travel back in time just a few hundred years. I would do so in order to bring the knowledge of science and technology I have to people in the past. By doing so -- the present would become much more technologically advanced and perhaps we would have all sorts of intriguing technology in the present. In addition to this it would allow us to be more scientifically advanced in the present. I have an interest in this a physics student. Namely, perhaps it would allow me to find out the answers to the great number of questions that seem so unsolvable today. And then I could live in my own time, with the people here and have the advantages of this knowledge and technology. Additionally, perhaps this would allow for the avoidance of technology related disasters as well. Granted -- this is all without regard for the massive amounts of change that would occur in the world as a result of my actions. Certainly there would be so much change that the 'present' would in fact be unrecognizable. But thinking about this aspect of time travel sort of ruins the fun and forces me to think about it way too deeply.
So to sum it up, I would use it to advance the technological and intellectual standpoint of the 'present'. For the benefit of myself and everyone else (hopefully).
Without doubt 1944 June 10-15 Battle of Carentan Second World War.
Not as a civilian, as a soldier of Easy Company of the US Army 101st Airborne division. OFc this would include the rest of the WW till Berlin. I'm not a german hater or something and i absolutely respect german soldiers who took part in Second World War but that Easy Company is one of the best in the history of Army. Would like to feel how it is to have around 20 people covering my back as some brothers, going trough all the pain together and fighting for freedom!
If I could time travel I would go back to before the fall of rome, and tell them that they're about to be rofl stomped and give them guns, then humanity would be like 700 years in the future when I returned and I would be playing retro games like Starcraft 15 and living on mars.....
On September 02 2011 10:58 wiggium wrote: Just before WW2, to kill Hitler!!
And ruin all those future WW2 games? No way Jose. If I could travel to any point in time, I'd travel back before mans existence and fight dinosaurs with my elitist tactics that I've acquired throughout years and years of intense gaming.
I would go back to early 15th century (1440 would be good, so that I'm in time for 1442 july 3rd!). Then I would jump on a boat, go to Mauritius island.
I would then use my knowledge of solar eclipses to scare the shit out of people by predicting one (this one looks nice, July 3rd 1442, 7 minutes long, and goes over the Indian Ocean http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/5MCSEmap/-1499--1400/-1442-07-03.gif ), and become a respected and feared leader (exactly like in Tintin et le temple du soleil).
And THEN, I would take a bunch of dodo birds, and name them holy animals. Hopefully, this would last long enough to make them survive until today*. Awesome dodo birds would still be alive! YES!
* when I found out dodo birds were extinct, I was about 6 years old. I was sad for several weeks, and kept asking my parents how I could ever bring them back. Damn, thinking about it still makes me sad :'(
i put so much effort into my answer ... Really wanted to try this out, if one of the guys having gotten a key (and if that thing with the second key works out) could find it in himself to give me his friend-key i would really appreciate it.

Thats a silly reaction. Its not the game's fault; Serejai is the one who presented the contest and the prize. If you lose a raffle to get a <Car Brand #2>, you don't swear off driving a <Car Brand #2> ever again.
Sad to see the selection switched to pure random; I have to admit I'm a bit bummed out over that after putting at least some effort and personal passion into my entry. Then again it's perfectly reasonable considering the flood of entries and the overall quality of many (if not all) contributions; sound decision, and I'd probably have done the same after ~340 responses.
So - thanks once again for organizing such a cool contest, Serejai, and congrats to the winners.
If one of the winners (or anyone else with an Achron key to spare) reads this: I'd love to give this game a try, I really would. Except for my gratitude, which I'd offer in vast amounts, I believe I have a gift copy of Half Life 2 on my Steam account as well which I'd happily trade (in case anyone's interested).

Losing a raffle is definitely not what happened here. He switched it from being a competition to complete random because he couldn't live up to the task of judging it as he presented. I am not upset because I didn't win, and I wouldn't have been upset if I wasn't picked. He removed the competition after many people put a lot of effort into their responses.
Also, the only way I can combat unfair, unprofessional events like this is have it reflect in their sales. Not buying their game is the best I can do. He is a representative of this company and this game. If a company produces products using child labor, do you dislike those products? No, I still like the products. They may be good. But I don't buy those products because it encourages such behavior to continue.

Yeah, the issue was that there were simply too many good comments to narrow it down. I spent about four hours on it and the best I was able to do was about 18 comments and I only had three keys to give out.
This was my first attempt giving out keys based on actual content and it didn't work. I suppose that type of thing works better for an art contest or something, but it's really rough with a written entry contest (and probably why big name gaming websites stick to the "post in this thread" or "signup here" methods when they hold contests).
Had I picked winners people would still complain because it's all subjective and they would think their answers were better than what I picked. It's pretty much a lose/lose either way so I won't be attempting a content-based contest again unless I can figure out a non-subjective way to do so which doesn't block out people as well (for example art contests would be easier to judge, but also would exclude like 99% of TL).

Just noticed your post even though it's been a bit since you posted it. I might be wrong here, but as far as I know, Serejai is not an official representative of Hazardous Software. Even if he were employed, in no way did this giveaway imply that it was an official event with rules set in stone; just a casual sharing with his fellow community members here on TL. I don't really understand why you're being this negative and blowing it completely out of proportion.
As an example what a positive attitude can yield despite being disappointed over the initial results (as I had been as well): After asking nicely if one of the winners would be kind enough to share his gift copy with me in my previous post, I did in fact receive one. A huge thanks once again; you know who you are (not sure if you'd want your name mentioned or not, so I'll go with privacy for the moment).
Just got a code in a PM (Thanks again Serejai :D) If there is a gift copy I can send out, it will be sent. Any chance of a spoiler tag in the OP with some names of people still wanting a copy?
