Say this, I buy a new car for $20k, the government gets GST+PST from it. Now lets say I use this car for 5 years and sell it for 10k to someone over Kijij. No tax goes to the government. On the otherhand, if I go to a used car dealership, or an actual company, and I sell the car to them, and they sell the car to someone else, they are taxed on that, is that correct? So the Kijiji way the government taxes only once, which this way the government gets taxes twice. Am I understanding the situation correctly? It was just a quick thought that popped into my mind, would appreciate an answer, thanks ^^ | ||

There is probably a lower limit below which you don't have to, probably something that accumulates over the year, so you can't get sued because you sold 3 apples for a dollar to one guy you know, and didn't pay taxes for that. I'd guess that limit is below 10k, but i honestly don't know. Because otherwise what is the difference between a trader selling stuff to other people, and non-traders selling stuff to other people? | ||
