Guys, personal stuff in PMs, none of these are answers to stupid questions. If a cop pulled a gun on you and: 1. you're innocent 2. you have a reasonable fear of death 3. you've complied with everything the cop has said 4. the cop is yelling at you and waving the gun around would you be able to disarm the cop and claim self-defense?

@dark
You can always claim self defense so long as you have proof, and the cop can always claim resisting arrest.
The actual point of contention is if there is evidence the cop used excessive force, if he did then self defense will win out. If he did not use excessive force then resisting arrest wins out.
But, more realistically, it really depends on who the person defending themselves is, who the cop is, and who the jurors are.
A big black guy doing that to a white cop will be shot on sight. A small white woman doing that to a big black cop will be more likely to be considered self defense. Etc...
This is because, unlike civilian interactions, there are laws protecting the police in order to give them more power. A random person waving their gun at you is 100% self defense. A police office is more Gray, as you'd need to show that the officer was acting outside of what is expected of an officer.

They don't seem to shoot random white people though. Especially unarmed ones. Whatever could be the reason for that?

I'm sure American cops do. They randomly shoot everything else. Dogs, cars, inanimate objects. Sometimes they even hit what they are aiming at. Judging that American police seem to have special rights combined with lower expected standards than the average person, my guess is that after this hypothetical disarming of the cop you'll immediately get hunted down and shot by other police, so you wouldn't be able to claim anything as you'll be dead.
____
Also at theiving magpie: women are people. They are all individual persons with different preferences. The actual question is actually quite complicated and cultural. Who is it ok for? The looker? The looked? Those who are in a relationship with either? What are the rules of society? How does it change in context to context? From street to workplace to nightclub. Both the question and the way of your answering the question in the way you did, you've lumped women into one homogenous group as if women aren't individual persons in some wierd context devoid of reality. And that deserves to be made fun of. Anyways, that's probably the most I will say on the topic because it's steering dangerously close to something unpalatable.

Is that really what you think cops do? That there cops randomly shooting at cats and dogs and missing most of the time?
American cops are given authority during criminal situations, during emergencies, and during pre-defined circumstances where authority is required (such as altercations, times of danger, etc...)
Defining those circumstances and then determining whether or not a cop has acted out of turn from those circumstances is what is harder to define--and the issue is that jurors often give cops more benefits of a doubt than they do normal citizens. Of course, cops aren't often judged by a pane of purely black jurors.
What lump did I throw women in?
The lump where you can look or not look at them at it doesn't really matter as each of them will react differently depending on the situation lump?
The lump where unless there's a special reason for them to think someone looking at them is important that they don't simply lump up the people who stare at them that say into the people that stare at them lump?
Is the lump I'm putting women in the lump where somehow you. Have special staring powers and how dare I question your prowess at staring at women because you're different and a nice guy and women should see that lump?
Which lump is it mouscat?
It's been several pages now and the topic has been changed. If you want to bring up that somehow you staring at women is special then go ahead, but I think it's better we drop it before you dig yourself a bigger hole.

That you somehow think you "won" this exchange makes this so much funnier.

I already know what the demographics of this site leans towards when it comes to women's rights, so when it comes to this topic impressing video gamers is not really that important to me. What's truth is true despite what folks like you want it to be.

What I want to do is a diagram or a family tree, but ideally I'd like it if every time you move to the next branch of the diagram, the chosen element becomes the focus.
So you're at the beginning of your tree, you have like 6 choices. You can click on any of the 6 and you have a new "beginning" for your tree, with any number of choices going from there.
Basically it's the same as the pathing of folders for Windows, but I'd like to have a single file instead of a bunch of folders. Needs to have high capacity too because I'm going to have a lot of branches in it.
Anyone knows what I could do that with? I don't think I can do that with SmartDraw cause I don't think you can focus on a specific choice or "folder". I'm unsure what it is you want to use it for, but Prezi does pretty much that if you want it for presentations. Thanks, I played around with it but from what I could tell you only have one set of branches for your tree on this (unless I suck at software comprehension which is definitely possible), and that's not enough for my tree. I've been looking more and I think one solution is to create a bunch of folders on Windows and then use Snap2html to get a single file, not sure that works the way I think it does but I'll try that. So basically, you want to do a choose your own adventure book or something along those lines? Depending on how pretty you want it to look vs how much effort you want to put into it, you could try doing it with multiple HTML pages and links between them. That was a school project for 7th graders in a school i did a teaching practicum in.
This works well, much better than I thought it would. Thanks.
Is there some sort of cap to this? I have about 800 htmls linked so far and I'm not close to half, will it start lagging at some point or some shit like this?

Are they simply local html files that you open in your web browser? Or are you hosting them on a server? If hosting, it's mostly about concurrent accesses. But if it's just you, then you don't have to worry about that either. If you're generating thousands of separate htmls, it's going to be an absolute nightmare to maintain (it would probably be a lot more efficient to maintain in a database and simply generate the htmls from there, but you're already halfway, so nvm). But as long as it's a fire-and-forget project and you never have to change your structure, it'll be fine.

I already know what the demographics of this site leans towards when it comes to women's rights, so when it comes to this topic impressing video gamers is not really that important to me. TM firmly believes he is the only non sexist, non racist in the west. Disagree with any point he makes you are a racist or sexist yourself. This is because of two reasons he can't even fathom himself being wrong and he truly believes he is the only one smart enough to avoid societies pollution. And he lives and dies by that he "knows the demographics" of this site and there by decides all people responding are young white sexist racists. But again he somehow breaks the mold of this demographic. But just him. You really go to ask, if we are all such assholes why are you here? He then backs this up with such "facts" most people would call logical fallacies. His main goto's are. Psychologists fallacy + Show Spoiler + an observer presupposes the objectivity of his own perspective when analyzing a behavioral event. Strawman and the his go to when things start to get real tough Poisoning the well + Show Spoiler + a subtype of ad hominem presenting adverse information about a target person with the intention of discrediting everything that the target person says.
As someone who lives in the west, I greatly disagree with the idea that I am not influenced by western culture. For the most part, those who think themselves innocent of wrongdoing very rarely are innocent of it.
But please, tell me, what fallacy did I perform by saying I don't need posters on a videogame thread to agree with me on civil rights for me to care about said civil rights?
Calm down, call your friends and have them read your TL posts as you say you love doing, have your wife stroke your ego as they do, and just chill out. No need to be caustic.
