Find someone to cover for you, and tell them you need to miss the shift for personal reasons, but you've got it covered. They don't really care if "you" are there (except when you have specific responsibilities or are dramatically more efficient than alternatives) they just need a body, and it's a pain in the ass to find a body for something like black friday.
If you find someone else they probably won't be very curious why, but if you make them find a replacement for you, they are going to say/do just about anything to keep you on (because that seems easier than finding a replacement/working short staffed).
Worst case, I'd just call in and describe your explosive diarrhea in detail until they want to just hangup.
If you can't tell them your missing work to see a family member that "has little time left" and leave it at that, then they are going to be pissed at you no matter what you tell them (my bosses would have been, even if it was my mom's funeral). Unless you can say a family pet you loved died and they are pet-lovers or something.

Cant you just tell it's a family member that has little time left right away? You don't have to specify it's your cousin.

Sometimes you just have to come clean with it and it isn't like you have to explain everything in great detail. I found out recently my father has colon cancer, emailed my boss I wasn't coming in the day after I found out. I told him because there wasn't as much need for obfuscation, but most bosses are fine when you indicate that a family member may not have long left.

In my experience they almost insist you head out ASAP and are supper supportive throughout.

I was reading an article and came across something I was curious about. Are preachers allowed to go into stores and start preaching/delivering sermons? I'm just curious what the law says since I'm in class that talked about what your allowed to do on college campuses.

Just randomly making stuff up here, I'm sure there are others that know more.
- the shop is private property, so owner can do a bit as they want - don't think you are allowed to refuse to serve customers based on religion, or that kind of things. - if a customer disturbs business though, you can kick then out I'd guess?
So I guess it's a matter of making a case that the preacher scares away or disturbs other customers?

If i had a store, i'd always keep some satanic props handy to deal with such cases.

Why stop at props? Bring out a lamb and slaughter it in front of the preacher draining the blood on his face screaming "for bealzabub!

Long story short: she hasnt disclosed any information about her family yet so that means Im not at liberty use that as a specific reason to take Thanksgiving off as well.
This is the ONLY time Ive ever wanted to take a day off (or even cut the day short) just so I can spend time with loved ones. I have an extremely good relationship with all my supervisors but I also want to approach this in the most professional manner when I ask about adjusting my schedule. And I also need to not disclose any information about my cousin's family because its extremely sensitive.
Any ideas fam? Sorry about horribly structured sentences, its hard to talk about this so Im just typing as I go.
How did this turn out?

Is there any state/city that has had professional sports team in at least 3 sports (Hockey, NFL, NBA, MLS, MLB etc...) without ever winning a national title?
Then is there a state where that extends to the collegiate level in the major 3 (Football, Basketball, Baseball)?

I don't think so. There's only something like twenty urban areas that have teams in at least three of the big six, and they've all won something at one point or another. Cleveland was on a 51 year drought before this year though.

Turns out im not the only employee with family problems. Hopefully I wont regret this decision, but Im looking forward now.

In the episode where Spongebob gets the shrink ray, he accidentally shrinks everybody in Bikini Bottom and they all get mad at him and start beating him up for being shrunk. To remedy this problem, he shrinks Bikini Bottom too, so that everybody is able to live as they did before, with everything at the same relative size. Assuming they had no outside contact and were isolationist, would they run into any problems, or was this an effective solution?

Anyone know the failure rate of dental offices, anecdotally a friend and I noticed all of the offices we were aware of as kids were still operating (though several moved to nicer buildings) and we wondered, "they must fail sometimes, but is it significantly less frequent than other businesses?"
I want to know, but I couldn't figure it out after cursory google searches. Help?
